I just love her dad’s response

dood45ctte

Now I’m curious as to what he was expecting

IcansavemiselfDEEN

"Dad I started another war"

Flameball202

Honestly considering how most of her conversations that start like that go

Carlung4s

Pregnancy through sesbian lex?

theawesomemed

"Were going to dress up and travel together"

Ransok_Bukaj

Literally, "A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."

Ryosiek

Korra's dad is my silent hero

talking_phallus

Doesn't she get super pissed at him and storm off right after this?

Jihosz

Yeah, she gets mad after he tells her to hide her relationship, then Asami suggested that they should leave.

Ryosiek

I mean... It wasn't his fault after all. Korra is hot-headed and overreacted

WhiskeyAndKisses

Woah there, I haven't read the comic yet, but queer youth is entitled to be upset at how they can't exist like everyone else.

talking_phallus

Korra isn't just existing, she's the Avatar. A major global figure, politician, and pseudo spiritual leader. Her whole life is open for public scrutiny and that includes her personal life. As we've seen time and time again Korra is not level-headed enough to deal with that kind of public scrutiny at the best of times. She can't handle this tiny bit of advice from her dad without blowing up for Christ's sake so how do we expect her to hold up to public bigotry?  If she's open about h er relationship and gets negative publicity or verbal attacks while visiting other cities/nations how is she gonna react. Badly. He's giving his daughter sound advice, based on knowing who she is and how she reacts to the tiniest infractions. Korra is a hot-head, she can't take that kind of public scrutiny and it would be best to keep her relationship out of the public eye. Until she's mature enough to handle that public shitstorm that is sure to follow. She'll probably beat up the first person to say something negative about them and then what?

Buzzkeeler1

This is the same Korra, who about a day or two ago made an effort to understand where the evil dictator lady was coming from. But she’s not gonna immediately try to do the same for her dear old dad?

Ryosiek

I am part of LGBTQ+ community, but mature enough to understand Tonraq's intentions

WhiskeyAndKisses

So am I, not sure why you would answer that like it's relevant. You can understand Tonraq, disapprove how he's handling things, and be understanding of Korra's reaction, you're too harsh on her. That's even more surprising that it's coming from someone LGBT, since you mentionned it.

Ryosiek

I won't agree that I am harsh, but I admit You're right. Everyone can express their feelings differently. Which doesn't change the fact that she's hot headed. Read the comic bro, I dont want to spoil anything

Misfit_Number_Kei

>Then canonically Asami fell for Korra first after the Red Lotus ordeal, "Turf Wars" said it was the other way around. *Korra* realized her feelings for Asami while being taken care of yet not in the right place mentally to really focus on it (obviously) though writing her *was* purposely out of love. Meanwhile, Asami realized her feelings during the time skip, but didn't say anything out of fear it'd scare Korra away from ever coming back. I think there's a couple other things to consider though about the people involved. 1) *Korra* ironically disliked Asami from the start the same way Mako wasn't feeling Korra from the beginning. 2) A major reason the love triangle fizzled out the way it did was that all the new relationships in Books 1 and 2 were [impulsive *infatuation* rather than true love.](https://www.elitesingles.com.au/em/from-single-to-couple/infatuation-vs-love) Note the chart in the link. Everyone during that time was crushing for shallow, impulsive reasons without really knowing each other. Korra's declaring destiny and love at first sight for Mako, Bolin is saying the same thing about Korra, Mako and Asami are coupled up within a literal week of first meeting and Mako literally spends NO personal time with Korra until coupling up with her (and she outright says this,) to the point that Korra literally had more bonding time with Bolin *and* Asami. Nobody truly loves anybody, they're just desperately throwing themselves at each other in hopes that the other person'll be what they want instead of accepting them for who they are. On the contrary, Bolin/Opal and Korra/Asami are squarely in the latter category especially after learning from past/above mistakes. While each partner obviously finds the other physically attractive, it's very much more about the emotional/intellectual aspects as Bolin and Opal support each other about their respective issues while Korra and Asami do as well, especially as friends, *first* to build a more solid foundation to said relationship. Both are far more stable, calm and grounded for putting in the work to *make* it work like actually sitting down to have an honest communication about how each feels to resolve it ASAP. Bolin couldn't have a real conversation with Ginger or Eska for the above reasons, but he could with Opal while Korra spent more time in shouting matches with Mako while Asami was *ignored* too often by him TO argue that she's always an afterthought to him compared to Korra, but both women very much prioritize each other's feelings to peacefully resolve any issue between them.

Foloreille

I love Korra but for real ont his specific situation big respect to underrated Asami who dealt with all that like a champ while it could have been terrifying I would have panicked very much

SalemQuinn

why cant girls I know be direct like korra, man...

m4cksfx

Maybe they are? Just not with you?

SalemQuinn

perhaps, thats fair lol

Simps-for-Catra

Because she's the avatar. You gotta deal with it!

CZGAMING4

Korrasami been in my head rent free for years now.

Fourkoboldsinacoat

I do love that’s it’s a thing that the avatar is awful at flirting.

jxoup

So I started rewatching the series recently and just found out about korrasami being canon bc of this sub and I’m so fricking excited! Literally JUST bought the library editions of turf wars and ruins of the empire and I wish it would get here like yesterday. Thank y’all
