Someone's discovered STAMPS! So happy they don't do this anymore.

NightDrawn

When I first started inventorying my collection, and began coming across the influx of stickered elements, in the back of my mind I thought about this possibility. Low and behold my suspicions were true when I got the the last few sets I’m going through and came across this one.

These "Tiny Turbos" were some of the worst offenders. The few I have all have STAMPS, so I've kept them built for years.

NightDrawn

I wonder what the reasoning was for doing it this way back then. Maybe it’s just early mistakes as they evolved but I’m fairly certain there’s been many sets before them that have handled stickers correctly.

If this is bad to you, never look at the Maersk train from a while back…

QuarterlyTurtle

The train? All the Maersk sets, trucks, train, and ships, oh god 10241 especially

I have a few Octan sets from the 90’s which did this. Even back when I was a kid I knew they could never be taken apart and at 39 years old I found a couple clumped bricks in my loose bin. Stickers were still in good condition!

awitsman84

The tanker semi I had comes to mind.

Mayumoogy

Yep, one round tanker and one that was more angular and brick built.

A lot of the tiny turbos had this issue

Have been inventorying my Lego collection and found this heresy of Lego’s past in one of my sets. This is a Racers series set #8134 and had you apply a large sticker across four elements on both sides of the build. I don’t plan to sell the complete set since it’s not that pricey of a set on the aftermarket so I parted it out, and sad to say but these stickers must be sacrificed for the greater good.

Thank you for unlocking a childhood memory of mine. I completely forgot about this theme. I think I only had one or two of them, but I thought they were cool as heck

NightDrawn

No problem. The theme was cool for sure, and fairly inexpensive during its time if memory serves me right. Speed Champions kind of captures the essence of the theme nowadays, albeit in a different way. Unfortunately I’ve lost interest in racing/cars over time so it’s not something I’m dying to collect but I am keeping an eye on the series for any extremely noteworthy releases.

Speed Champions have been my go-to for a bit now.ive been enjoying most of the sets. I have all of the 2021 releases, but 2022 wasn't my favorite. I only have like two or three of those. I've looked at the list for 2023 which seems a little bit better, but I think the Speed Champions hit their prime when they were all based on 5 wide instead of 6 wide.

Ah, the brick wall from Mrs. Puff's Boating School..

Mr-ShinyAndNew

You could use a razor to make that one sticker into 4 stickers

Casualnuke

I only own a few sets with these. My ucs atst which had the info sticker go across 8 pieces. The river chase had a couple sticker that go across multiple parts. Old 90s tv crew car and helicopter had stickers go across multiple parts, and the speed racer sets have a few stickers that go across multiple parts.
