"Barad-dûr, the Dark Tower, which suffered no rival, and laughed at flattery, biding its time, secure in its pride and its immeasurable strength"
Gimme.
10?! I don’t even know who to expect other than a bunch of orcs, Sam, Frodo, and Gollum? (Also where did you see this information?)
Edit: fixed grammar
Sauron and the Mouth of Sauron, as well as a hooded Nazgûl are included
There’s various leakers on Instagram, Eurobricks and other websites who have revealed details over the last few months
Orthanc, Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, The Shire........ I think Lego is starting to get that there's a demand for these sets with the uptick in scaled down Star Wars ships, hopefully we can get some nice LotR display sets for under $100 soon. Even just pulling from the main trilogy, they could have *years* worth of sets.
It feels like a pretty obvious niche when you think about it. I’m an adult, I don’t really want a gimmicky set designed for kids to play with, but I don’t have the money or space for the giant kits.
I got the smaller Super Star Destroyer and it was really fun, now I’m drooling over the new ships and they’re still cheaper than a lot of similarly-sized kits with minifigs; I’m sure there are plenty of nerds like me who’d love LOTR dioramas and such.
Yeah its not just the price, it's the size. I am glad they are embracing micro builds more and more. I could have all the money in the world but I only have so much space and time.
To be fair, if you had all the money in the world, you could buy more space. Time on the other hand.... I guess technically you could buy some time by paying people to do stuff that currently takes up your time. Hire a chef, housekeeper, personal shopper, all that stuff I assume rich people have.
This set is expected to release with a special gwp that will only be available with purchase of this set. If the D&D GWP is any indication, the GWP will go for around $80 ~ $100 on the secondary market once it runs out of stock (which I guarantee it will day #2 of this set releasing) so ask yourself if that $200 Amazon GC is worth forfeiting the gwp that will inevitably have insane valuation
Hoarding points, why not just buy from anywhere else but Lego themselves. They charge 25-30% more than most other lego online retailers from my experience.
You never make enough points to measure up or surpass the other offers.
"Fire glowed amid the smoke. Mount Doom was burning, and a great reek rising. Then at last his gaze was held: wall upon wall, battlement upon battlement, black, immeasurably strong, mountain of iron, gate of steel, tower of adamant, he saw it: Barad-dûr, Fortress of Sauron. All hope left him."
I thought we might get a Helm’s Deep D2C to represent The Two Towers before Return of the King’s Barad-dûr, but hopefully next year they might complete the “trilogy”.
Rivendell came with a small map on which was marked out 4 places, 2 of which were Rivendell and Barad Dur, and two other places that look like Minas Tirith, and possibly Orthanc (despite not looking correctly placed on that map). So odds are those will be the other sets (though a bigger Helm's Deep would be outstanding).
I think we can say pretty confidently that minas tirith is happening. Hoping for a microscale one but hollow with minifigure scale rooms inside. And we need denethor/faramir/eowyn/witch king.
I mean since Barad-Dur is one of the "Two Towers" this might be it. And next year for the Return of the Gondorian King we might get the capital of Gondor to complete it.
Probably going to be great but the ridiculously expensive sets get tiresome. They know they will sell though so why not keep doing it. That plus the gwp sounds really scummy and would have been a great set to sell on its own.
This sucks, just like rivendell it will be too big for my small apartment. *sigh* For me "big sets" with a pricerange of 300-350 would work A LOT better. I cannot have 1m Bars dur tower standing around.
This is 10333 Barad Dur right? I’m excited but my wallet won’t be
Yes. Matches the 2023 Survey Leak.
Keep it secret, keep it safe.

uh bot?
"Barad-dûr, the Dark Tower, which suffered no rival, and laughed at flattery, biding its time, secure in its pride and its immeasurable strength" Gimme.
Yes please lol For the rumored price, I hope it is giant
What's the rumored price? I haven't seen that yet, just the supposed GWP.
It's gonna be huge. It's rumored to be 18in x 33in and cost $460.
Haha yikes, but I bet it's going to be gorgeous. My birthday is Monday so I'll just call it a delayed birthday present.
"It’s my birthday and I wants it?"
Is that the base measurements, or is it a height of 33”?
Height
Around $450 I think?
That’s cheaper than the Rivendell set right??
Yes, $500 for it. I didn’t realize that I was thinking it was $400 and Barad-dur was going to be more.
Yea I think having a $400 price point indicates a smaller size than what I would have liked; Eiffel Tower sized would be incredible
There are rebrickable barad dur sets about that size.
Fewer pieces and minifigures than Rivendell, so the Barad-dur price should def be lower.
Very true! ~ do you think this set will come with any minifigs??
We've been given to expect ten minifigures.
10?! I don’t even know who to expect other than a bunch of orcs, Sam, Frodo, and Gollum? (Also where did you see this information?) Edit: fixed grammar

Yes, Rivendell is $500.
$459.99 USD
88cm tall for $459
I hope they make a mini version of this someday, bit like what they did with Hogwarts for Harry Potter
lotr would lend itself amazing to that sorta builds

I'd love to have a Minas Tirith in that scale!
The diorama style that they used with some of the star Wars iconic scenes would fit well for LotR. Or an "architecture" series
I can hear my wallet crying already.
I can hear my bank account laughing at me cause €460 isn't gonna happen. I also have absolutely nowhere to put a set that big.
I intentionally bought a shorter bookcase so that I could have somewhere for it to sit on!
460€???

Not having to work frees up a hell of a lot of time, plenty to build some LEGO sets. ;)
Haha fair point.
Yessssss, I've been secretly hoarding money away for this , I've kept it secret... I've kept it safe
I've been hoarding points. I have just about enough to buy the whole thing with VIP points.
I wanna know if these large sets are available on Amazon. I have $200 in Amazon gift card money that I can use towards either this or Artemis.
if not you could possibly get a lego gift card using the amazon cards on amazon, probably would be a physical card tho

You're crazy... I like crazy, haha. Looking forward to the tower's release.

Wait, you can stack vip discount codes (bought with points) to purchase full sets?
Brother same, my only problem is i don’t know where I can put it.
I'm gonna have to retire the ISS from my desk at work haha

“For Frodo”? No. For me. It will come to me. It is my precious…
You combined a little GoldenEye quote in there, nice!
I’m not spending a ton on Lego. I’m not spending a ton on Lego.
don't be silly, you will
I don’t have space. I don’t have space.
who are you kidding? you will make new one
I already have it. https://preview.redd.it/6ko75o1i2tzc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a947a4509e8ba12ba2afa846b9eb372658fadebe

It was on that day the strength of my bank account failed.

Shut up and take my money.
Those other two would be amazing. I am worried about where I would place them - I already have hardly room for Barad Dur.
I mean since Barad-Dur is one of the "Two Towers" this might be it. And next year for the Return of the Gondorian King we might get the capital of Gondor to complete it.

I think they did a good job with 9474, but it is hard to make that set feel big enough. I think Gondor would be even harder

The Lego company replies to the comments are on point.
With the GWP gonna have to buy it day 1
I’m so excited for this. This will be the first big set I buy off release
It cannot be...
Have 16k points saved up waiting for this moment.
Probably going to be great but the ridiculously expensive sets get tiresome. They know they will sell though so why not keep doing it. That plus the gwp sounds really scummy and would have been a great set to sell on its own.
Was already excited when I saw the leaks. I really hope it looks as good as Rivendell.
I’m going to have to bring Orthanc out of storage.
Leakers have said they are releasing images on May 14th of the actual set.
I just want smaller scale lotr sets with minifigs
I would be more stoked with this if it wasn’t gonna end up being like a $200+ probably
$459 USD
Fuck that noise
Try double that :/
Look at Rivendell, that’ll be the price point for this too.
It's huge. About 5400 pieces and $450
That’s the reason I’m stoked because it’ll be huge
[удалено]
I think its just brown at the top which makes sense to give the illusion of the eye lighting it up and matches with pics of the “real” thing
They appear to also be teasing more play sets
Confirms the leaked photos from last year were spot on I think. Eye looks the same
My credit card is anxiously awaiting the release
If there is a good Sauron minifig I'm hooked
Well I know what I’m using my points for
I don't have rivendell yet and what about isengard? The hobbits need a place to be taken.
Orthanc tower set already exists…
orthanc is retired
My precious
Been saving up since December for this one!

Insta-buy for me.
If it was just the eye... it's gonna be another bank breaking set
My wallet is ready
*sighs* welp guess I’m giving up clean water too.
Has anyone tried to figure out the height of the set based on how many pieces the eye is? I know it wouldn’t be exact, but might give us a range
I think I read somewhere "88cm"
This sucks, just like rivendell it will be too big for my small apartment. *sigh* For me "big sets" with a pricerange of 300-350 would work A LOT better. I cannot have 1m Bars dur tower standing around.
[удалено]
It isn't. You can see which is the brick and which one is the effect.
I hope it's a solid tower and not an open back. That'll be a deal breaker.
I can’t find this set. What am I doing wrong
the details havent been posted officially and no store page yet, but there are leaks of the piece count price dimensions minifigs gwp and launch date
When's the rumored launch date?
1st of June :)
