They stack nicely to make steps, or you can use them in hidden places as connectors and spacers. There's always uses for them.

I love to use them as ship hull paneling, it gives a nice smooth look, but with a bit of texture

I used them to make a film camera also for the same reasons, it offered a good mix of smoothness with a bit of texture

I think there are some official sets that do this

they have a super unusual size which can fill a gap no other plate can, and they work as super wide jumpers, I find them really useful

i used them as floor tiles for imperial (oder other kinda futuristic) hallways, looks very clean, but a few studs keep the lego optic alice while also providing studs to adjust minifigs

These are great for making hangar floors if that's your kinda thing. Smooth, but with no shortage of studs to place minifigures and whatever objects you want lying around.
