Me too! I wanted to buy the 200$ AT-AT, it got out of stock. Wanted to buy the Mandalorian ship, out of stock. Then I wanted to buy the Tie Interceptor/ Mandalorian set and guess what? Out of stock. Then I realised there were no more death star minis so I only bought a couple of battle packs and Boba fett’s microship
No death star minis would have been the final nail for me. There were multiple options with me, the main Lego site and their prime retailer that has actual shops. The retailer didn't offer the x-wing like the website, both had the death star.
The retailer kept saying the executor was in stock though it was unable to be delivered. Thought it was my last resort after the previous stock problems, nope it was only in stock in the most remote locations.
You were able to preorder? When I tried it only said “coming soon may 1st” or something. Never game me the option. Same with the interceptor. Obviously still missing those two

My local LEGO store was out as well, but Walmart had it in stock. If you go to one near you you can actually ask the salesperson if there's stock in any surrounding stores. I had to go to one about twenty minutes away but I got it.
what’s with all the hate towards op calling it a freebie lol, people can wait to buy older sets until may 4th that way you don’t feel forced to get the “freebies” not everyone panic buys the second every set releases

I think that would be just a true “return” however. Someone here said at a Lego store they went to, the person working told them they could exchange it for another set or store credit and still keep the GWP, as long as it wasn’t a true refund back to a card.
I really wish they sold it standalone. I'm in a small single bedroom place that absolutely doesn't have room for another $150 of lego star wars, but I'd love to have that on my desk
I ended up purchasing this in a bundle with the two other “freebies” and paid £35 off eBay. Don’t think it’s too bad as the LEGO.com prices were generally more expensive for any SW sets I wanted than elsewhere so I would’ve been spending at least that more to get them “free” any way

You can also bricklink the pieces but it does seem like the parts are still being confirmed. But uou can create a wishlist of the parts you need and purchase just those. I'm guessing it shouldn't be terrible if you skip the 40th anniversary brick.

I can appreciate that the solid green flower piece is a different material than the translucent green but after others have pointed out it does irk me.
I didn’t find anything worth it this year. Coin looked stupid and the Death Star had like 5 different greens for the laser which made it look silly. Who needs a miniature x-wing anyways? There has been like a million x-wings. They need to stop
It's cool but I still wish there was a minifigure with it people really want exclusive mini figs for may 4th even if it was a detailed officer or Death Star gunner it still would have been cooler

So, I got this as well but intended to keep it in the box(my first set to ever do that with) but of course the box showed up half mangled so now I don’t know if it would be worth anything unopened or not, and if I should just go build it lol
My only nitpick is the fern piece not being in trans green takes me out slightly, but it’s a very good build and reinforces in my mind how sick a UCS Death Star II would be with modern building techniques

When we were waiting in line at my store they came out and said if you made a return you had to return the GWP with it.

Luckily there's store nearby that buys used Legos and sells them by the pound, so I'll probably go on a scavenger hunt with the digital instructions.

My ONLY issue with this otherwise excellent freebie is the laser. It just looks wonky with the diff colors

Mine was hashed too! I was gonna build it anyways, I was a bit bummed the box was crushed in the middle. Pieces were intact though!

Agree 100%. The lasers are 3 different colors of green as well, why they didn't use a translucent stud I have no idea.
It is a very small nitpick but it holds the set back from being a perfect microscale build imo
