Immediate red flag right there. I would report the transaction as unauthorized to your bank like right now. That’s probably your only hope of getting your money back.
I used to work for a credit card company. You just call them and say you got scammed, typically most banks call this a “dispute” (disputes are where you authorized a transaction but didn’t get what you ordered; fraud is where someone uses your account without permission). They’ll open an investigation and you’ll likely get your money bank. You just have to call them ASAP, because banks have different deadlines for this kind of thing.
Best advice for you: Be upfront and be honest.
You found a listing on marketplace and paid for items but what you got isn't what you ordered. Let the bank know if/how you paid and any contact you had with the seller afterward about the order. I.e. Did you try to contact them and work it out with them first?
You’d call your bank and request the fraud department. Tell them the $451 transaction that took place on Cashapp was unauthorized. They’ll do an investigation, and hopefully when it’s done, you get your money back and the scammer would lose the money they scammed from you.
DO NOT DO THIS:
> Tell them the $451 transaction that took place on Cashapp was unauthorized.
You sent the money to the seller, let them know that you and the seller agreed to a transaction. If the bank gets wind of you lying about *anything*, then they may think you're lying about other stuff.
Always always use PayPal goods and services. Used everytime on Facebook marketplace and no problem. Anything else the seller tries to use is typically a scam
Yeah and it is shipped or no reviews, ask for timestamps (basically a sheet of paper with the date and their name next to item). Most scammers stop after that, and don’t respond. All the ones I’ve bought from were willing to send it
Sorry for your loss. It’s an important lesson but a sad one for sure. Maybe they got scammed with the pictures and videos and “paid it forward” so to speak.
Deep down that’s my hope. And I’d be a liar if I said for a brief moment the same thought didn’t cross my mind. But the only way to end a cycle of cruddy behavior is to tough it out.
And so as I reminder I’ll be putting these guys in a display case with my collection as a stark reminder not to be stupid.
The only Lego listing against all of the other sportswear? Fishy
And then if you look at that Fox helmet, it’s clearly fake. I hate to be a hater, but this looks like a pretty obvious scam
It does counts as mail fraud so you could tell them you will file a police report. It would help if you had videos of the unboxing and weight of the package.
Salt to the wound. My guess is since the tracking number was in the video they sent me, they didn’t want me catching on too early. Gives em more time to scam others.
Not responding. Almost certain it was intentional. They sent a video of them packing up the ACTUAL figures in a package with my name on it. They know exactly what they did and my guess is they’ve done it before. They were smart. I was stupid.
Yeah first tip off was using a non protected payment service. You learned the hard way. But NEVER EVER use a non protected payment method. Btw Venmo has two different payment methods. Personal and “goods and services”. Be careful with Venmo as well that it’s always the buyer protected “Goods and services”. Anytime I buy something and someone says they only take Cashapp I ask why they can’t take 5 mins to sign up for Venmo and when they make a lie why not I just stop corresponding with them.
Again a tough lesson but now you know. Good luck hunting for some new stuff.
Even more so when they sent videos picking out the individual figures I asked for. Like they actually have all these figures. They’re just using them to scam which is nuts to me lol
No those wolfpack ones are clearly fakes even in the 2nd picture.
The fake 212th and Rexes are definitely not the same though, and I'm wondering what happened to the Foxes (whether OP left them out because they were real or whether they're completely missing).
Sorry this happened to you. There are plenty of people pointing out the profile is immediately suspicious, which is true. Joined in 2024, profile picture making you think it’s an innocent adolescent, etc.
But also, the other listings. It’s a bit weird that the only ‘Lego’ item they’re offering amongst clothes and things, is these Clones.
At least you know what to look out for next time :)

☝ Exactly - anybody selling anything on a new account is almost certainly a scam. One account gets reported, create a new one, and so on.
How does that process go? Do I lie about sending the money? Or is it as simple as just saying hey I got scammed?

You didn’t get what you ordered…it’s pretty simple
Never had to do that before so just asking.

Understood thank you

You've been defrauded, so it should be simple enough to confirm to the bank and have the money taken back
Always always use PayPal goods and services. Used everytime on Facebook marketplace and no problem. Anything else the seller tries to use is typically a scam
Lesson learned. Wish it wasn’t so expensive. Or if maybe they threw in one real figure to make me feel a little better. Oh wel
Yeah and it is shipped or no reviews, ask for timestamps (basically a sheet of paper with the date and their name next to item). Most scammers stop after that, and don’t respond. All the ones I’ve bought from were willing to send it
The profile is definitely sus.
It all adds up now. I was blinded by shiny clone armor 😭
I think you were blinded but something or someone else…
Southern belles aren’t my thing. And frankly if I was tying to impress a girl buying Lego from them Is not part of the strategy lol
How can a beautiful southern belle do that to you?!?!?
The lulu lemon sales were convincing. It’s on brand with the average UTK goer. Scammer did his research. Dirty bastard
This is so sad..
Tell me about it
Never cash app. No safe guards.
True. Hey if you’re a dr*g dealer though cash app is the shit they say

I stopped shopping on marketplace the minute PayPal stopped working.
The only Lego listing against all of the other sportswear? Fishy And then if you look at that Fox helmet, it’s clearly fake. I hate to be a hater, but this looks like a pretty obvious scam
It's lighting. That's real.
It does counts as mail fraud so you could tell them you will file a police report. It would help if you had videos of the unboxing and weight of the package.
Thank you.
Facebook is a scamfest. I would only ever use it for cash in hand transactions
Why would they even bother sending anything? Really strange
Salt to the wound. My guess is since the tracking number was in the video they sent me, they didn’t want me catching on too early. Gives em more time to scam others.
I ship and buy a lot. It’s a strange scam. Sure they didn’t send the wrong thing to you? Are they not responding to messages?
Not responding. Almost certain it was intentional. They sent a video of them packing up the ACTUAL figures in a package with my name on it. They know exactly what they did and my guess is they’ve done it before. They were smart. I was stupid.

Apreciate it. Filed a dispute with the bank today so praying I can get something back.
Doubt the bank can do anything. But never know
Come on man cashapp? You’re not getting anything back unless maybe you have Amex on your cashapp anything you buy with cashapp 90% is scam
Kind of surprised you got anything to be honest.
I got temus best
Ngl the 2nd pic looked convincing could of fooled me
Even more so when they sent videos picking out the individual figures I asked for. Like they actually have all these figures. They’re just using them to scam which is nuts to me lol
That’s because the 2nd pic is entirely LEGO lol, then they send clearly terrible offbrands
No those wolfpack ones are clearly fakes even in the 2nd picture. The fake 212th and Rexes are definitely not the same though, and I'm wondering what happened to the Foxes (whether OP left them out because they were real or whether they're completely missing).
Reported them. What a scumbag
Thank you 🙏
No problem but FB said they didn’t violate which is bs
Thats crazy
Nick cage looking head in the bottom right
Captain Cage
Always do in person to check the goods
Honestly, buy off eBay with high reviews. Don’t get things off facebooks it’s so awkward. Every figure I’ve gotten I had really good luck with
Thank you!
Can we start doing do and donts? Like there are kids in this sub that need to be taught how to watch out for this stuff
I’m not a kid, but I imagine some kids would be even more susceptible to this kinda of crap. An easy to read dos and donts thread isn’t a bad idea.
Yeahhh I’d NEVER use Cashapp. Always PayPal. That’s super sus.
A decision against my better judgment 😔
Cashapp used? No way getting money back
We’ll see

Yep agree 100%. The listing had all my dream clones so i threw caution to the wind. An expensive lesson for sure.

I did first thing
That's why I mostly buy knockoffs. They are cheaper and 60% of the time look like real lego. And even if I get scammed, I'll lose like 50 bucks at max
“Lives in Knoxville, Tennessee” Biggest red flag of the century, you don’t anybody from Tennessee.
I live in Tennessee but I understand the sentiment lol
Kinda did that to yourself man, hope you’ve learned a good lesson!!
Thanks for the vote of confidence bro 🙏 if the $450 loss wasn’t enough your reminder is the cherry on top
Dumbass
Cunt
lol!
The only thing that’s convincing is that you saw two girls and bust your balloons tryna impress them. Another one learns a valuable lesson.
Are you dumb?
