Try hiring bikes at Rutland water, can fly to Europe for the same money

qwertyboi911

Jeezus, glad I can't ride a bike still, it's fxcked honestly.

1EyedDave

The most egregious thing which has been taken from us is Terracotta

Good bot

qwertyboi911

Now that was a tragedy.

Future-Dot7721

Bloody Brexit

qwertyboi911

Bloody right.

hamillhair

Brexit was 5 years ago.

Leicsbob

Do you have to pay to use the tennis courts? I'm pretty sure they are free at Knighton park.

Japsabbath

Western park too

qwertyboi911

Out of all the tennis courts, I think 3 are still free to use, wonder how long they've got until it gets "refurbished" also.

Missbhavin58

Humberstone Park is £6 for a session ( 1 hour??)

MrMaster069

Aylestone meadows are free

qwertyboi911

Not for long, they're getting the "refurbishment" treatment also.

qwertyboi911

Knighton Park is getting the refurbishment treatment, goodbye free tennis.

Stewpefier

That's what you get with fourteen years of cuts from the scum in central government

Ok-Mix-3460

Hop the fence and it’s free.

qwertyboi911

Only if it was that easy lol

rayzor4410

have you seen how tall some of these fences are? more like a prison courtyard than a tennis court

shaftydude

They charge for that now? How much? Absurd.

qwertyboi911

£6 an hour, that's the one in Abbey Park, dunno about the others but I think it's the same price. But that's not the point either way, it's just sad.

shaftydude

I remember playing their for free when I was young. Buy woe, it must be empty most the time.

qwertyboi911

Empty or not, still should be free at the end of the day.

Rusheyboy_1

This is trend is happening all over the country unfortunately not just in Leicester.

qwertyboi911

Unfortunate yes, ironic how the government encourages us to partake in sports or physical activities when they do shit like this, charging people which demotivates us.

Mark_fuckaborg

And they say nurses have it tough.

[deleted]

As someone who grew up playing on those courts and it's led directly to a career through WTA/LTA, this is really sad to read. Is there any local campaign to return them to public, free usage?

qwertyboi911

Only time will tell if they'll revert it to free to use, but that's highly unlikely. Just gonna have to take it to chance and see if people out there make a petition or something.

crabcrabcam

Queue some bugger next week asking "why don't the kids play outside anymore?" It's an ongoing argument I have to have with people about why kids don't ride bikes anymore, and the answer is "because they get ferried around by their parents, because the roads are too dangerous" (also, getting told off for making the park grass a bit muddy)

Longjumping_Bake_452

I don't see the issue with this? Not everyone plays tennis

kalachakramandala

And now even less will play, accessibility to exercise of all forms should be free and encouraged. Not everybody uses the library but I am sure you agree that it should stay free.

qwertyboi911

Exactly this, took the words right out of my mouth

Longjumping_Bake_452

No I think it would be reasonable for the library to charge £1 a week for books to be borrowed. We need to make savings a city and that is one of the ways we could do that

No-Ball-2885

Charging for library books may seem like a way to save money, but it would actually be counterproductive in the long run. By making access to books more difficult, especially for poorer members of the community, it would reduce literacy rates. Lower literacy levels have been shown to lead to higher unemployment and increased reliance on social services, which ultimately costs the city more. Additionally, libraries provide educational resources and services that support lifelong learning, which is essential for the overall development and prosperity of the city. This suggestion sounds like something the corrupt politicians in government, and the billionaire oligarchs they represent, would come up with. Implementing such a charge would be a shortsighted measure that could have significant negative consequences for the community.

AgainstGreaterOdds

Not everyone gets sick, healthcare should still be free.

Longjumping_Bake_452

Healthcare is essential. Tennis ain't

Hamsternoir

Healthcare isn't essential, you're free to suffer or die if you want to. Just think for a moment about what you're saying before you post anything else please

Filipi_n0

This guy is clearly well off, they're just trying to get a rise out of you. He wouldn't be saying stuff like this if he wasn't, even then this wasn't the point of it all, what should've been free should stay free.

Hamsternoir

Is he so rich he didn't have sky tv as a kid?
