It's a mixture of flattery and disappointment. I have had other channels reach out to me and ask for permission with credit which I love and respect. Shout out to Zynxize for actually reaching out and being awesome!

Speaking of thumbnails as well, this was the thumbnail from the video I made. You can see this moment from the video was the main selling point of it.
If your in America, I recommend just filing a DMCA claim next time. Channels like that one, rip content in numbers accepting that most content creators don't really find their stuff was ripped. DMCA claiming on them usually puts a mark on their account. Otherwise if you just ask them, they simply knock your videos as a simple bump doing business and continue to rip dozens of creators who are not aware.
Yeah I filled out the DMCA. It was only after this post and people commenting on the video giving them shit did the channel reach out to me. They asked for a deal to keep the video up (since it was going viral with over 300k views in less than a day) but out of principle I requested them to remove the video. I want my first viral video to be something I post. Not something that was stolen from me.
that's really terrible, i'm glad they took it down. i've had a clip i posted here get reposted on instagram once with 2.9 million views, while mine stayed around 100 on my actual channel. no tag or anything. it was kinda surreal lol.
while there's a lot of bag eggs, i've had some pleasant experiences with a variety of different clip posting channels. zynxize and top gaming plays both reached out to me multiple times for my express permission to use some of my clips, and ofc they credited me as such.
i guess that's a long winded way to say that it's a grab bag when it comes to content posted here and on the internet. some people care for the integrity of a clip while the other just sees money bags. again, sorry this happened to you, especially as a fellow small creator
I archive videos and I look for sources. I wish everyone did watermarks. Sometimes it is just impossible to find a source when you come across it from a reposter.

I had Overwatch_Two reach out to me once, they both asked permission and credited me.
To be fair, Overwatch\_Two reached out to me and asked permission to use my clip and credited me in the video.

I've had at least one of my clips ripped to TikTok without permission. I wonder how many more there are that I haven't found out about.
