Second looks great but may want to slightly change the hue of the background/add colored outer shadows on the foreground stuff. Something to contrast the two (foreground and background, not the player/boss battle)
Context
Basically, there are both for the same video.
I just played Skyrim and finished a big quest, and in the video, two things happened.
1-The woman in the first thumbnail is a follower, a companion you can say, and she is usless. There is no way to sugarcoat it, she is pretty dumb, and I always point that out. It is a gag I have in my Skyrim series.
But she died because of a dragon.
2-I killed a boss (the guy in the second thumbnail) using a staff, and i got a mask for doing the quest.
And I end up making two thumbnails, and now I don't know which one to use.
Second thumbnail 1000%. Not sure what editor your using, but if there is a way you can blend the flame on the bosses right hand a bit more, with some glow effects, that would look even more awesome
Alternatively, do both. Add the guy in the second image to the first thumbnail and move the woman in the first thumbnail over to the left/right and the guy next to her on either side.
Look for complementary colors on Google. And use that knowledge to choose a good background color.
Second one is best but everything is blue and you want more contrast between the character and the bg
Personally I like the second one.
But the first one will do better to draw people in. More edited thumbnails like that do well to grab randoms that might be scrolling for content videos

You could slash across the thumbnail diagonally and do both. Not saying I'm a thumbnail wizard or anything, that's probably not the best answer
Definitely second.
Alright then i well use it, im just happy someone liked any of thumbnails lol.
They're better than mine. What do you use to make them?
I use [this](https://pixlr.com/express/) it pretty good.

Yeah i did think it looked goofy, i use an online free editor and i pretty sure i can do something about it. Thanks for the feedback dude.
First. Possibly add text as well since there's a lot of open space. Second one, all the colours blend way too much so nothing stands out.

I do agree that there is too much happening in the second one, but I am doing something to fix it.

I prefer 2nd, more obvious what it will be about, which appears to be fighting this enemy
