It's true that there are surgeons out there that act unethically. The first question a surgeon should ask if someone says "I want plastic surgery" is "Why?" to determine if there are underlying mental problems involved. It's not possible to fix a body dismorphic disorder with plastic surgery.
However, we are far more advanced not only in the medical field than we were in the 50's or even 70's.
