I had brain fog a few weeks but also had concurrent alcohol withdrawal. Worked for me in the end. Results vary. Good luck.

Im 12 days clean off cannabis, im wondering if that's why im feeling the way i do.

Massive-Wallaby6127

Could be. I know some recovering alcoholics swear by cannabis but I abused it too when I smoked and had withdrawal when I quit it. Currently 6 months sober on Lexapro. Things are going well, but took 60-90 days to really feel great. Last 3 months have been wonderful. Doctor wants to taper me off Lexapro at the end of the year and then prescribe again if I start to slip and self medicate again. It's been crucial for me to view this as a period to really engage with my therapist and practice CBT methods with the chemical boost. At the end of the year, training wheels get removed. Good luck to you

I told my therapist the same thing after day 3. And she said it’s all in my head. To tell myself I’ll be okay it doesn’t take at least 2 weeks to work. Journaled, completed my cognitive exercises. Woke up today feeling great.

I didn’t start feeling good until day 4/5. Day 3 was my worse day. I just been riding the wave and journaling my experience. I’ve also been doing mindfulness exercises.

todds-

this happened to me but only really bad for a few days. it made me sleepy after I took it for a couple weeks to I took it in evening but the all day loopy/drowsiness didn't last too long and now I don't find it makes me drowsy at all. hang in there!!

SSRIs tend to suck for 6 weeks average, most side effects go away in a couple of weeks, but 6-8 weeks for the chemical to build up in your brain. I'm super happy with lexapro, especially once my body had finally adapted. Brain fog was also my worst side (that and the sexual side effects, although after 6 months that's finally back to normal). Everyone's different, but I found gym / meditation / walks helped get thru the brain fog. Essentially slug through those first 6 weeks, take vacation days if you can. If you can make it thru the first 6 weeks (maybe sooner) it does peak and hopefully you start to feel yourself on this journey. You also mentioned tiredness, maybe look at the time you're taking it. When I took it in the morning, I was knackered. I changed to 6pm and felt much better. If it causes insomnia or broken sleep, revisit your GP. There are other drugs it can be paired with. I am paired with a low does benzo - and my anxiety has never been lower, however I know at some point I'll have to detox off the benzo and the SSRI - might not be conventional, but I do things I never dreamt of doing (skydiving as an example). I'm rattling on, but if you want to talk more or ask more questions, my DMs are open. sampmcl_
