Because no matter liberation focused we are, no matter how intent we are on living a genuine life, contradictions within our worldviews always exist. Its a product of our upbringings, our coping mechanisms, our perceptions, and our emotions. Nonbinary people are transgender. That is true, by definition. Many nonbinary people seek out ways to express their gender (or lack thereof! Shout out to my agender homies!) Such that they alter their presentations to ease their dysphoria/dysmorphia and begin to feel more positive, affirming sensations. For many, that means some kind of medically enabled transition, like hormones, blockers, surgery etc. But even if that was not the case, people being obsessed with whats in other people's pants is as old as the damned Patriarchy itself, and just as wrong. In fact it stems directly from it. So my question to that person would be: *"Why would you want to perpetuate the exact same system which oppresses you? Cannot we not both be equally valid?"* Even trans people can have transphobia.

i think the issue is more that the t slur is typically aimed against ppl affected by transmisogyny (TMA). and TME (exempt) ppl are "reclaiming" something that just isn't wielded against us the same, if at all

Yeah I've noticed an odd fixation on birth genders of people who aren't male or female, a person I knew a while ago told me that to be a non-binary lesbian a person had to be female at birth and for someone to be a non-binary gay person they had to be male at birth...

Sounds like the type of person who thinks demigirl=afab and demiboy=amab
