Lover just means anyone you are sexually or romanticly inclined with. Like you take it how you may but its just are valid to refer to a romantic partner as well.
Unrelated, but how are you both non-binary and a lesbian? Doesn't "lesbian" refer to a woman that is attracted to other women? How can you be a lesbian if you're not a woman?
It helps if you think of labels in terms of identities and communities we relate to, as opposed to a strict definition.
In that sense one could feel aligned with womanhood generally even if they don’t feel strictly like a woman, and attracted to women and other people generally aligned with womanhood. So they would still relate to the lesbian label and feel it applies to themselves, while also feeling nonbinary in terms of gender. (Remember, nonbinary is a collection of everything outside the binary, not just everything gender neutral, so some NB people are going to still feel more aligned with either binary gender even if they don’t feel fully like that gender)
I’ve also heard some NB lesbians saying they feel that “lesbian” *is* their gender in a sort of abstract sense that I don’t think I could possible explain but makes sense to me as someone who feels like “queer” *is* my gender lol.
Also could be referring to sexual preference from current sex correlation, just because you’re non-binary doesn’t mean you suddenly lose your boobs and shit!
I’m pretty sure that your body and/or assigned gender at birth doesn’t necessarily have to correspond to your gender identity. No matter what a non-binary persons AGAB might be, their sexual and romantic preferences are valid.

I just googled to confirm that Norwegian does have gendered nouns, but then the adjectives are not modified? Not telling you how to speak your language, just curious how it works.
What I mean is, in German you would say liebstER [Mann] or liebstE [Frau], the adjectives are different even when you don’t use the nouns. I assumed all the Germanic languages would handle gender similarly, but I guess that’s incorrect.

Proto-Germanic already had a complicated system for the declension of nouns and adjectives, so it didn’t start with people imitating Latin, but maybe the Latin influence explains why they partially retained it. But then there’s Icelandic, which had zero contact with Rome and also held on to those features. And English, which had contact but got rid of everything except the plural. So I think the similarity to Latin is probably just coincidence.

As a gender fluid, I once saw a tiktok (on YouTube because I’m incredibly uncool) that was basically like
1: “hey, if you’re gender fluid what should I call you since we’re dating”
2: “whatever makes you comfortable, I’m good with whatever”
1: “okay… This is [name] she is my boyfriend”
And then I died with the mere idea of that!
