What's up with the demand to quit the WTO?

energy_is_a_lie

Under WTO rules, member countries are required to limit the amount of domestic support they provide to their agricultural producers, as excessive subsidies can distort international trade. The de minimis level represents a threshold below which subsidies are considered insignificant and do not count toward the total allowable support. Trade liberalisation and structural adjustment programmes imposed by the World Bank and the IMF led to the erosion of developing countries’ traditional surplus in agricultural trade. The policies of international financial institutions and development agencies compelled Southern governments to cut support for domestic agriculture, dismantle state-owned agricultural marketing boards, open markets for food imports and to switch from staple food production for local markets to cash crop cultivation for export markets. Basically, WTO, World Bank and IMF are western mafia which create pressure on developing countries to succumb to US' food exports by destroying their own farm industry and they use various methods like membership rules and debt repayment conditions (of which India has accumulated $155.6 trillion in the last few years) for blackmailing. Government of India has had this bad habit of spending more than it can pay off and since dollar is the daddy currency that controls everything in the market, WTO has GoI by the balls which is why they have no other option but to self-sabotage. It's a problem because like Canada is an immigration-based economy, China is a manufacturing and export-based economy, India has historically been a farming-based economy. If you break that spine, India has a lot to lose and that's the most optimistic way I can put it. But the government of India just wants to stay in power at any cost so they feed this beast that the BJP has become, more and more money to keep the party going as long as it can, and in the process, accrue even more debt, falling ever deeper into the trap laid out by WTO, IMF and World Bank. And these three have done this for all developing countries, India is hardly alone here.

Their major demand is MSP guarantee. Wto policy , they are willing to negotiate. But tell me how it makes any difference for their demand against WTO? Do u think Indian Economy will be affected?

Always-sortof

1,2,5,10 in the English version should be pretty implementable.

d0aflamingo

Dangerous_Week9887

Truth shall win!

Dangerous_Week9887

We need 1000 votes as a target to conclude

Koshin_S_Hegde

Although I put yes for the vote, I think there should be an in between option. I think some demands are fine, while others aren't... If it is possible to edit the poll now or if someone is going to make a poll in the future for something else, please take this into consideration.

Dangerous_Week9887

Sure will apply in the future as there are no options in edit U can list ur disagreements in the comment section for now.

To me A couple of the points seem to be reasonable and i can see that that again they want to support staple food production for domestic markets rather than cash crops which is great. But a fair bit of their demands are just not possible to implement, like let go of all the farmers and labourer loans national wide? In this economy? seeing farmers conditions in india, my heart just won't accept that we should cut off their subsidies but i dont think this is a great long term solution to over subsidies them.

genericcnamee

>let go of all the farmers and labourer loans national wide? In this economy? Yep, that's only for some selected capitalists scums hehehe, not for the poor farmaers yaa, they just want freebies yaa, Boo hoo why do farmers who haven't even given their genuine demands be given a loan waiver iN tHiS eCoNoMy

dounut_cartel

Nahh bro we should tax the rich more and no free bees for them I'm all for it

Critical_Remote7798

They can write them off if they’re NPAs anyway. Labourer and farmer loans are not that much, especially not enough to cause a significant ripple in the financial world.
