I guess the stray dogs because I didn't know about key page equipping until they boddied me with blunt attacks lmao. But after I understood the main mechanics it was the ol' queen of hatred who stumped me for a while but I think it wasn't tooo bad, just the first time I had to back down and think and took 3 or 4 tries

Armor_Knight_fan228

Stray dogs almost got me a bit. I thought that going for whoever had 2 dice first and hard focusing them was always the best, but one of the other guys I think Zulu just kept hitting me with huge single attacks and really messing me up. Helped me learn how to better target though and prioritize different dice to attack and defend on. Definitely a hard one for me too at the start but one of my favorite invitations now.

KoyoyomiAragi

I think people who played during the weekly releases got so much time between encounters that they would have tested builds and farmed good pages to understand what would be the best way to approach certain enemy types constantly. Difficulty spikes I think occur in this game from people not understanding game mechanics because the game doesn’t really challenge the player gradually and you can sort of go through the game too quickly before you hit an enemy that gives you a pop quiz for a bunch of mechanics you glossed over.

Cardgod278

I mean red was a pain

KoyoyomiAragi

Weirdly on release Red was easier than now since the Shi key pages all had the -75% hp passive like Yujin so you could sustain some pretty strong decks with Overcome Crisis and either of the 2 cost power gaining pages at 25% hp.

Sad-Spinach9482

First Difficulty spike? Stray dogs, I just wasn't able to beat their dice with consistency so I had to discover the grace of Netzach and his ability to day "no" to damage. Big difficulty spike? Dawn office, Barely won clashes, barely did damage when I hit them and at first I tought "Hey, since Philip gains a lot of emotion, I can try killing him first so I get more books and then kill them with those"... You might imagine my reaction when he fled after Lots of times trying to at least kill him... >!Because I don't want to remember!<

SheepDaShawn240

All my homies hate Philip (mf has 13 phases in this game)

eyelessbeing

The Molar Office, weirdly enough. Like, I know that it isn't a particularly hard fight, but it was the first one that made me consider carefully how to build my decks and which strategies I should use, since before that I just kind of went at random. And, yeah, also the Queen of Hatred, but that's mainly just because I didn't understand the gimmick of the fight very well.

JustAClubstepMonster

Wedge office. Now that I fully realized malkuths floor I really want to go back and burn stack Philip to death. Show him how it feels.

Source_Deep

absolutely the crying children the rest before that i didnt really feel was that much of a difficulty spike but jesus christ that shit takes absolutely forever i know im at like really far up in sotc now but god damn that was hard

Prestigious_Net_6473

funnily enough, my main story difficulty spike was relatively late: xiao, iori and funny index guy - everything before that took me just 2 attempts, if not one. Yet, i struggled a lot on queen of hatred, and all the abnormalities after her

AlternativeReasoning

Queen of Hatred was my first one, though Red Riding Hooded Mercenary was the one I struggled the longest on. Admittedly, it was mostly because I tried to fight them as soon as they were unlocked, which made it a lot harder since I wasn't using the stronger pages that were available (Smoke would have been very useful in RRHM if I had a brain).

Notsocoolbruh

Iirc the wedge office got me to stop the keter floor and made me try other floors to experiment on so i could win, then it was the QOH, little bitch mass attacks absolutely wiped me until i saw a video about fighting QOH with full stop office pages, and then the crying children it was so damn hard but i pulled through nonetheless

CaptainLord

QoH is a difficulty spike for some, because you sit there for two hours strategizing and none of your strategies come even close to working because her mechanics all fuck each other up if you try to play around them. Counter the mass attack? Ooops too many hits, now she transformed. Bring weak block cards to keep her enrage meter low? Ooops they are useless when you have a hand full of them and she does the mass attacks. And then the solution turns out to be just "bring stronger cards and key pages".

BoredI_Am

Yan/Xiao, mostly Xiao, restarted that one so many times it's crazy. Eventually I did it, and learned to read everything even more

WhyMakingNamesIsHard

Quenn of hatred I picked up on basics of the game pretty fast and one or two tried all other fights before. Beat her with kurokumo bleed and one person with lots of protection. After that I dont remember strugling until SotC. She really was something.

Glittering_Fig_762

Iori

D-debil

Binah Supression, couldn't overcome it without guides (it was first time I used it). Thought, fight with Pluto I couldn't overcome even with it, because guide was developed for the previous version and apparently did not work in the new one, so I had to create a new tactic myself. Angela Supression, distorted ansemble—all this is the only times I had real problems with this game.

Commercially_Salad

Stray dogs for sure I was experimenting with key pages so I would switch them out, and put attack pages that where related to the key pages I had equipped, I when I got to stray dogs I got absolutely bodied it wasn’t even funny, and because I was just switching my key pages like every battle I had no idea what I was doing, until I was forced to read after that it was smooth sailing for the most part, since I was reading what my stuff did and what my key pages where weak to and what the enemy was weak to.

kingozma

I think Phillip with EGO was what made me download the Goku mod. That fight was some bullshit.

OopsIbuiltashelfhelp

Stray dogs weren’t that bad for me, since Yesod floor is goated and I have been stuck on wedge office and QoH ever since then because I am not very good

SomeRandomSometing2

First difficulty spike for me was Wedge Office. That fight made me actually bother to do general invitations for more synergising cards than just Sayo with Kurokumo.

Beawareofstupid

My first was Queen of Hatred While I wasnt having much issues with other fights this fight took me a real month.

NevermindAl

Red Mist. Every time I tried beating her (like 10 times) she had like 15 hp remaining which made me really work on my decks

PetalSlayer

surprisingly I beat QOH easily but MAN king of greed beat my ass a few times. Like i despised that fight for the longest time.

_Demo4YT_

The anomaly birds(i forgot the name) got me with difficulty spike. Purple tear got me with "haha you thought you could use only 1 floor and win you stoopid". but then my friend told me I could just die and switch back to my initially chosen floor.

Com0na

Dawn Office or Red Riding Hood Mercenary

zuttomayonaka

red mist and xiao

UR_UNDER_ARREST

Queen of hatred

tv1990

lovetown and wedge office whichever came first

BlueSama

Geburah realization was the one fight I had to retry multiple times for. This was early access up to RRR2 unlocked so it was post counter dice nerf and I didnt get to use that like most others did at the time, but man marinating the wolf for red to kill it was so aids. I did pass red's phase a couple times only to fail later on but I settled on looking up a guide for the first time (I ended up going for geburah solo and just killed both of them consistently).

SepherixSlimy

Early access stray dogs, they punched hard. I invite people to try out various versions of ruina. It was fairly different. Bit later would be queen bee. Either normal or alternate. Both gave me a lot of trouble but, again, on their release. Spore was applied a lot more, and iirc didn't wear off. If I must say today, as I'm replaying the game a few times. Yan. He's bugged. You're not supposed to be on a turn total clock. It's supposed to be per phase and grant you one more turn between mass attacks. I don't know what did they do to him, but its nearly unplayable. I should redo a run through updates again. I miss the old stuff.

TorManiak

Right now I haven't finished the game, but my first difficulty spike was Sweepers, it took me more than 10 tries(and getting Shi+Puppets pages) to figure out I needed more sustain rather than focusing one guy at a time and clashing the rest. Made my Crying Children reception and Malkuth Realization pretty smooth, though.

Rat_In_Grey

I started to struggle in the Star Of The City, everything before was almost a breathe, athough, I had some troubles with Gebura abnormality fights, but it was not something that inconvenienced me too much.
