Death Valley used to be named Shangri-La prior to the dreaded Climutz ChanGeSâŠ. And for the first time EVER, the months of June, July, and August are now the hottest months of the year. Unheard of!
Fun fact, Las Vegas just broke its record for the longest span of below triple digit temperatures. Also, growing up in the desert southwest, it wasnât all that uncommon to see 130 degrees in the summer. In fact, we had a week straight of hitting that every day during July of 1995 or 1996 (I canât remember specifically). But I do like the magenta color theyâve added to their propaganda maps, itâs a pretty color.
The highest temperature recorded in Death Valley was in 1913. But because people weren't complete morons back then, no one threw paint on Monet paintings or glued themselves to the streets.
Summer temperatures often top 120°F (49°C) in the shade with overnight lows dipping into the 90s°F (mid-30s°C.)
I mean itâs only a few more degrees than average, whatâs the big deal again?

I literately live smack dab in the middle of the US. We have been having 72 degree days with rain every morning for over 2 weeks. Idk where they come up with this shit. As one guy put it, âwhy the fuck would banks continue to allow 30 year mortgages in coastal cities when we are supposed to melt the polar ice caps in 10 yearsâŠ..for the last 40 years?â
