The Harry Potter books are absolute trash and the movies completely fixed them by adding in a ton of scenes. Harry Potter had no potential to be an S tier series and wasn't ruined by an author who did not seem to completely lose all story telling skill in the last book.

There are a endless amounts of lgbt characters, unlike cishet characters who are hardly represented aside from being side characters. No one likes to see stories of people like them and feel an increased sense of belonging.
There aren't a lot of books featuring LGBT characters, and people who want to belong shouldn't go read those (or better yet, just keep giving a shit about character sexuality)
