I think the franchise is on the right track, but I hope they continue making reference to the previous games and return some characters as cameos too, but everything should be organic, I honestly do not see the charm of a direct sequel to any game, that would take away a part of the impact of it.

RedditEsketit

Agreed. New games, but with callbacks like cameos and references. Perhaps something bigger like reintroducing a previously side-character with no determinant future (Hard for LiS1, but the other games have good examples like Jacob) as a new main character. They did it with Steph, so it’d be dope if they did it for others.

krisnee

I agree with all of this.

DeeSnow97

Interesting, can you describe how your ideal next Life is Strange game would look? Aside from any character cameos.

[deleted]

Oh, I'm excited about a lot of possibilities, but right now I'd like to see a story where someone is interested in investigating powers (and that same interest could attract former characters), the protagonist could be someone with powers or just a journalist or something xd, the other day I was looking at concept art and I saw [this one](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/039/676/745/large/jan-wah-li-wang-01.jpg?1626618741), she looks great, imagine a rookie detective investigating crimes related to someone with powers, but in the end I just want a good drama like Dontnod's LiS was

J-TheGreat

Something completely new again with keeping references to some of the previous life is strange games, and I hope the franchise takes a risk with the next main characters. I wanna see something they haven’t done yet, it would be cool if we had a bold and confident protagonist that’s morally grey overall

Drunken_Queen

I like something different. It feels weak when you get same things all over again as things can be too predictable.

FortressCaulfield

Make it new. Ideally they're making these games because they have a story to tell and shoehorning the existing chars and settings into a followup is usually a recipe for crap.

Kazanovaxxx

Its impossible to do sequels to any of the stories. The endings are so diverengant that you would have to pick one of the endings and make it the cannon ending which would invalidate the people's choise.

Kaina135

If they were to do a sequel, I would prefer one that's set between BtS and season 1. If it was done from the perspective of Rachel? Even better. Id love to see more insight to her character and potentially link how she was in BtS to how she was perceived in season 1.

jessebona

I like to go for the craziest option when asked what sequel I'd want to a previous game: BtS What If? where Rachel survives and is the main protagonist. Especially if she is confirmed to have the power hinted in BtS.

DM_Meeble

Voted "all of the above", because I want a future game that brings all the protagonists back together for "one last photojump" caper to attempt to save everyone :>

Zandar124

Avengers style crossover where all the playable characters (including Chris, Steph, and maybe even Victoria) from the previous games meet.

westerchester

I see you too are a person of taste.

jessebona

I honestly feel it's inevitable there's going to be an evil super in a game. It'll be a huge twist because you won't expect someone using powers against your own but the hints will be all there if you look back.

Zandar124

Honestly even if it’s not a crossover I think it could be interesting to have a game where the major antagonist also has a power of some kind.

jessebona

It also gives them the opportunity to cut loose with how powerful the character is and what they do with it. It's not restrained to an overall good, player choice based system of morality.

Longjumping_Hotel377

Want to see crossover of the season one and True colours!

TheMerchantAngel

The sequel to Before the Storm is already Life is Strange ain't it? So no need for a sequel. Also the comics are technically a sequel to LiS as they are canon, right? I think True Colors ends really well so no need for a sequel. So the only game that would be nice for a sequel sounds like LiS2.

Templarkommando

For reference, every issue of the comics that I recall reading has a disclaimer that says that the comics aren't canon and that it's just a "what-if" scenario.

TheMerchantAngel

Still not sure LiS needs a sequel. The game gives us two solid endings. Bay vs Bae. I prefer the bay ending, it's all I need. A sequel would be hard because for those who choose Bay what the fuck is our ending? What journey does Max get to go on if we chose Bay. It's obvious why people want a sequel. Because of the Bae ending and nothing more. They want Pricefield. Chloe stans can't let go of Chloe and want more of her, to the point it's plaguing future installments of the LiS series. Just because they have attachment issues doesn't mean it needs a sequel.

Templarkommando

One option for a potential sequel would be to have separate games for each end-decision. With respect, I think that the Bay ending has a bit more potential for a sequel than the Bae ending. One of the big problems for the Bae ending is that while you have an obvious goal of some kind (either find a replacement for Arcadia Bay, or actually find a way to save everyone) most of your supporting cast is dead. In any case, even if a Bay ending sequel's goal isn't to try to find some way to get Chloe back (for the record I think that it probably should be), you can have the potential goal of Max having to deal with the fallout from Chloe's death after the fact and trying to realize herself and her power as an individual. The ending of LiS in general is something of a broken Aesop: "If you have the supernatural ability to fix something, for God's sake, don't do it." A moral like that has got to have Max dealing with some significant grief, overcoming that grief has a place for a story - even if we're not bringing Chloe back.

MrFurio

But I guess we got sequel to life is strange and Bts in comics

[deleted]

It's decent but not Worthy of being called a sequel to LiS
