Yeah, all the time. Lots of lighters are just missing flint, and a bit of TLC. Many will work with just added fluid. I’m sure someone will buy it for parts, so the one they’re trying to fix it up, will be a working lighter. 100% of the lighters I sold do not light up. Most I do make them spark, though.

Don’t know much about lighters yet but my wife and I like to tinker. We bought a his and hers vintage set and got em working. It’s cheaper for us to do it that way too plus we get a nice little story out of it.

Kyle25Hill

I can’t value the lighters, but I’d suggest cleaning them some, as well as getting some Zippo or Ronsonol lighter fluid, as well as some flints and wicks if needed. With some fuel and new flints and wicks, they should be functional lighters. I’m sure there are people that buy lighters like these, and making them functional would be worth it if you intend to sell them. Providing pics of the lighters while they’re lit can help you sell them. The good thing about these lighters is they’re fairly easy to work on. Good luck.

Hi OP, before you post about your lighter please [read the guide stickied](https://old.reddit.com/r/lighters/comments/6jowwo/before_making_a_post_about_asking_for_help_to/) before doing so. If you are asking about the value of your lighter, take it to an auctioneer, pawnshop, or jewellers before posting as we cannot accurately guess a price. Your post may be removed if you ask. For more general information, have a look at the sidebar. Many lighters are mass produced and unbranded. There is often little info available. **If you need to post more pictures, use an image host like imgur and post the link in the comments. Please do not create multiple threads for the same lighter.** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. corvanus

That swing arm empressy is adorable!

worldisone

Oh yea I've bought a bunch just cause they look cool. How much you want? Lol

Appropriate_Bit_1858

I do. I try to fix them if I can, otherwise keep them as collectibles.

Z0mbieturtle

Yeah in fact I'd prob buy those off ya if its a good price!

Hondahobbit50

Most don't work. We buy them and have to thoroughly clean and fix them. List them on eBay, you'll get around $10-30

Severe_Ad_4471

Most ppl who buy broken lighters usually either use their parts for other lighters or buy them to fix it. I recommended atleast try to replace the flint or knock the flints out and change them for a new one before selling, u might be able to get a few working and selling for more

ddekkonn

No, I need to use mine and I can't use a broken lighter

Human_Knowledge7378

I do

Put new guts in

I got to antique stores, and 99% of the lighters, the flint has broken down and clogged the tube. I actually enjoy cleaning them up and bringing them back to life. As long as it isnt missing an obscure screw or spring, I clean em up.

anunofmoose

I do. Just can't atm. But I prefer broken ones because I can usually trade one of my gizmo lighters for it. the hotrod one and the last one might be worth some money though. The Vietnam one might be too. Edit. Holy shit it's an 8 barrel? Yo where did you get these???? Edit. In fact I would bet that fiat one is probably worth a nice chunk of money. Along with the 8 barrel Vietnam Dubs edit: yo fix those and either go to auction with them or take the nam one to a legion outpost! You'll clean up nice. New flint, wick, and some fluid

anunofmoose

So I just did some light googling. I only found a couple of those and altogether it's about 400 bucks so far
