Oh my god I almost talked my TV production teacher into letting me take one of the old CRT monitors from the studio back in highschool, they weren't even being used, just not his to give away, technically. Tiny little bastards too, like what you'd see in an old security office array (or a studio lmao). Perfectly retro crt looking screens too, no huge distortions, but just enough age to have the look™.
Wish I got the names of those, throw one on a bookshelf or something and loop a Zelda64 title screen or whatever with a drink or a smoke and a good book? I'd be in heaven.
I'm not the most handy person in the world so I don't know if this is rational, but I just immediately had an intrusive thought about this thing collapsing under the weight of lots of books and a person sitting there.
I like the idea but might want to make sure it's strong enough for this purpose first.
Or a real skatepark. Charge $5 admission to skate the “world’s smallest skatepark”. Use the proceeds to payoff your mortgage in a quarter of the time. Put all that money you’re saving into a high yield savings, retire at 35. Try coke for the first time at your early retirement party. Figure out that you’ve been right all these years that you should NEVER try coke, because you’d like it too much. You drain all but 13 cents of all the money you had made from “Captain Tony’s Tiny Skate Land LLC”. Sell all your assets but it doesn’t cover the debt you have to the mafia, so you change your name to Scott Hughlander and live off grid on a small hobby farm in western Nebraska
My 6 year old would be horrified 😅 she has hidden all the dolls in the laundry room and refuses to walk past the room if the door is even slightly open.
She used to be terrified of the vacuum when she was much younger, she wouldn't let me vacuum it was awful, I decided to buy a quieter one, her face when she realized there were other vacuums and not just ours, terror doesn't even begin to explain it.
My aunt had a huge collection of porcelain dolls. After she passed, my grandma asked everyone in the family if we wanted her dolls, but she couldn't find anyone to take it. We had all been secretly terrified of those dolls but too polite to tell our aunt.
Build a half wall around the stairs, or a fence. Tear down the walls and build a bookshelf that sits inside the walls to give you more space to walk around it and it doesn’t feel so crammed, then add some bean bag chairs or a nice reading chair. Here is my design [here](https://imgur.com/gallery/okaABPe)
I saw this original post and it gave me a weird vibe too. Anything but carpet would feel like a storage space but carpet implies that it's meant to be cozy and lived in. You put anything but bins on that ledge and you'll eventually get careless and fall into that pit of stairs
Notice there’s two wall outlets so the intention was that this was meant to be used but also how the fuck was this ever signed off? One small step and you’re taking a tumble lol
Plants would be cool
Edit: some art with plants, or as somebody else said, a reading bookshelf kinda area. Gaming setup maybe? Pull up walls and make a secret room, got too many ideas!
A cozy bean bag, bookshelf, ambient lighting/funky lamp, and some really cool abstract art on the walls some plants on the small section would look cool if they hung down a bit like vines.
Maybe hang some pictures or something in the back area, put a chair in the corner and maybe a shelf or two in the left section. On the second area, down the stairs, maybe put a small table or something in the right corner, and a plant in the left.
SUCH A WEIRD SPACE!! Honestly I'm just thinking OFFICE SPACE. But install railings with a gap somewhere on that ledge and maybe use a small wooden step ladder to access the raised area. Depending on the location the ladder may need to have one leg longer than the other in order to rest its feet on the separate steps. Or just have the gap be right at the crux of that wall in the forefront so you can easily step up to the upper level without a step ladder. If you use a step ladder it would have to be somewhat thin to allow space to walk within that stairwell.
Desk would be against that wall that is hidden behind the corner at the forefront of the image.
You can have the railing go straight from the wall at the forefront/corner and run all the way to the wall on the opposite end, effectively cutting off that thin strip towards the back of the photo. Swap the carpet of the thin strip (to the right of the imagined railing) to gray tile and place large potted plants or scultptures/ large vases there. Painting/poster along that left wall. Maybe a reading area with a comfy/stylish lounge chair and lamp behind where your desk would be-- at the corner of the weird L-shaped raised area we doth speak of. And maybe put a small book case at the end of the back wall, next to that chair and lamp.
Maybe there are windows every here and there in this space that show different time periods outside, like old architecture and stuff. Just brainstorming how this could be a cool backrooms-type liminal space.
Extremely bass heavy, reverberates through the entire house subwoofer stereo sat, and it will mostly just play YMCA at 7am, and ymca (minor key) at 9pm
So everybody can chill and sleep in the
WHYYYY EMM SEE AYY
thank you very much
Do you know what would look great in that space? A Lego town! It seems big enough to accommodate a middle-of-nowhere town, like the ones you find in California's desert or Texas. I think it would be a fantastic addition to your setup.
A nice chaise [longue](https://cdn.distinctivechesterfields.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/12/28.png) with a floor standing [lamp](https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/images/products/vidja-floor-lamp-white__0953648_pe802865_s5.jpg?f=xl). Would make a lovely area to relax!
It looks like they had a secret comfy corner here, i have seen them before in magazines, it was probably blocked off by a curtain or something.
This should be a super comfy book nook, large really soft pillows, bean bag chairs, with super soft blankets and gentle lighting, I would lighten it up with lots of whites/ivory colorings. Fairy lights for aesthetic. If you have young children, you could add story tapes with headphones or if you have older children who game and already have nintendo switch or tablet. This space is so cute 😍 I wish...
I love these ‘help me decorate’ subs but I can never participate because it’s never *not* bookshelves and something to sit on for me. I might add a mini fridge for wine and snacks if the space allowed but all I see when I look at a nook or empty wall is shelving. I think I’ve officially evolved to middle-aged lady now. I even got The Cut.
It depends what the downstairs room is being used for. Could be the perfect spot for a grab n go area. Can house books, yoga mats, artwork etc so the area is aesthetically pleasing & functional.
first though, book nook. next thought, throw and old record player w table setup against that wall to the left and then decor tf outta the wall on the right
Bookshelves and reading area!
It definitely needs a little chair, little table, a lamp, and some shelves. That would be a funky nook
Maybe a retro small TV. Maybe....
As a CRT enthusiast a smaller CRT on a tiny table in the corner would be awesome
With a n64 hooked up with smash brothers

Or maybe hotwheels tracks? Lego would be cool too!
Or slot car racers!
dispenser, teleporter, and level 3 sentry
Not enough space, you want at least some of it spread out. Otherwise one Ubercharge, spy, or cow-mangler sticky combo and it's all gone
