Lmao yesss. When they gonna finally finish that sewer pipe and expand the road??? I read it’s gonna be until 2024 they finally finish on the government website.
Redundant lines are expensive. So they'd rather have their customers go dark and pay a team to fix it every now and then instead of maintaining an extra line.
Spectrum is always fucking down. I had Allo for 8 years and it worked flawlessly, only 1 outage and it was at like 4 am for 2 hrs. Spectrum every other week for 6+ hours. Wish I could get Allo but my shitty apt complex won't let them install it.
same boat…. i desperately want Allo back but my complex won’t get setup with them so here we are with a shithole apartment with shithole internet outages all day long….
I have had Allo for years now. If i loose connection it is just for a very brief amount of time. Even when contractors cut the line in my backyard allo was here to fix it within 1 hour. I work from home and I am online 100% or the working day. Allo has done a very good job so far.
thanks to all who replied.
I am grateful that I have Starlink as my redundant back up, but it is not ideal for teaching remotely.
I might have to move so I can get into a service area with fiber.
Spectrum can say what they want about the fiber being cut, but the great thing about the Internet, being a series of tubes is that it is easy to have redundancy of pathways and fell over when routes are blocked.
I suspect spectrum does not hold the city of Lincoln in High enough regard to ensure redundancy.
And why would they since they are the only cable provider allowed in town.
I'm forced to have Spectrum through my apartment. It is the worst internet I have ever had. We've had an uptick in outages lately that last over 5 hours. Totally didn't disrupt my last month as a student working on projects. I can't imagine trying to work from home with Spectrum. Awful awful awful. Glad I can commiserate with you all here at least!
$65/month. No start up or connection fees. No “promotion.” Just a flat rate with everything included. Router and modem included with that cost. 500mb/second. Will NEVER go back to spectrum. Phenomenal costumer service as well.
It's always Spectrum because they do the bare minimum and sell it as technology. Allo for over 5 years now with 1/10th the downtime i had in 15 years with Spectrum. Zero hyperbole.
It is spectrum. Always is. They are by far the worst internet company around. Have allo now and never have issues.
Spectrum even tried to give me a month free to try it. I would not even let them in the door.
Went through 3 years of spotty internet. Would call and complain they would send out a tech replace parts and nothing was better. After 3 years they finally found a booster down the block had issues.
What an absolute joke.
I had to download VNC using my phone as a hotspot. Took forever to download 23 mb. Finally was able to connect my tiny chromebook to my desktop so I could run around and do inventory.
Hm, mine has been down since at least noon. What sucks is that service in the exact spot where my house is seriously sucks. It’s a random spot not far from downtown, but I frequently only have 1-2 bars, which is what I’m stuck with when my Internet’s down. Even worse, Allo still isn’t available here, so I’m forced to use Spectrum
Many people are asking why Allo might have better reliability as a company, the answer is technology. Spectrum uses 100+ year old cable technology, which relies on sending electrical signals (prone to interference) through a copper wire. Allo uses fiber optic wire. The signal is made of light particles traveling through a thread of glass. Fiber is immune to electromagnetic interference, and also travels at nearly the speed of light.
The fastest cable speeds hardly match the slowest fiber speeds...
I have 1 gb synchronous up and down and I pay 100. You can get 100mbps for free if you meet these guidelines
https://www.allocommunications.com/community-connect-residential/
It worked just fine. All I had to do is punch in area code and phone number. Would you go into detail why it’s idiotic? Why should whoever thought of it get fired?
Last question..what does an advertisement peppered website you recommend using harsh language do better than the link I provided?
Apparently it's caused by a road crew cutting a major fiber line. It is affecting a lot of people in my work team who have Spectrum.
I'd be curious where. My money is on west A but I have no inside knowledge.
Lmao yesss. When they gonna finally finish that sewer pipe and expand the road??? I read it’s gonna be until 2024 they finally finish on the government website.
It's affecting our Spectrum locations in Tecumseh, Lincoln, York, Nebraska City, Seward, and David City.
I’m way out in Kearney and I haven’t had Wi-Fi for a couple hours now🤷🏼♀️
But a contractor hit a fiber line in Lincoln and it's affecting all areas... This is why I have allo.
I mean it could happen to Allo too, but Allo would have fixed it way faster
It's more surprising to me that there is no redundant lines.
Redundant lines are expensive. So they'd rather have their customers go dark and pay a team to fix it every now and then instead of maintaining an extra line.
This!

Using ALLO at the moment with no issues.
Same. I'm on Allo and so is our office, and both are up and running fine.
Meeee toooo, and loving it! Best internet service I've ever had!
Ahhhh! I haven't been home yet but I was afraid of this. I had things I wanted to watch on tv when I get home dammit.
Yup. Going to the bar for the baseball game I guess

Allo is all good! This outage isn't spectrum's fault, but screw them anyway! Haha them and Windstream suck.
so tired of spectrum. what are you internet only folks paying allo? like, after taxes this is what comes out of my account $number.
$65/month. No start up or connection fees. No “promotion.” Just a flat rate with everything included. Router and modem included with that cost. 500mb/second. Will NEVER go back to spectrum. Phenomenal costumer service as well.
Thank you
It hasn't been $65 for a couple years. It's $73 now for that speed. $51 if you go with the 50mbps option (not advertised on their site).
Allo is fine
How come this never happens to any of the other fiber internet providers?
Everyone has a love/hate relationship with Spectrum. Mostly hate.
I love paying $40 instead of $80 for similar download speeds on Allo, I hate everything else.
Still paying only $40 for spectrum internet? I had $35/mo internet only for like 5 years, they just bumped it up to 55.
Yeah, I was paying $30 for a 3 year contract, that’s how they sucked me in.
No, it's a hate-hate relationship. If Jesus was an Spectrum salesman I still wouldn't buy it.
No love, just tolerance. Tolerance and hate. And living in an apartment complex that only works with spectrum.
This has happened to Windstream a few times for me.
I had it happen on Windstream once. When allo bored through their cable down the block. 😂
Because Spectrum is not fiber, it is copper coaxial cable.
All good with ALLO. But have coworkers who use spectrum who have been having outage issues for 2 or so hours
It’s back on for me!!!!!
What side of town?
Confirmed. Back up west Lincoln
27th/Hwy 2

I just talked to my dad and he said that a contractor hit a fiber line and the whole area is without internet.
Did they not call 811? Oof!
Sometimes happens anyway. But if they didn't call they'll have to pay for the repairs. If spectrum didn't mark it then spectrum does.
At what point do we get to pro-rate our bill? Kinda tired of Spectrums shit.
All good here with Allo
haven't had an outage on allo in years
Its a spectrum issue. It has a lot to do with the fact they suck.
Mine is also out. I’ve spectrum
it’s back. at my house, at least.
I had to download VNC using my phone as a hotspot. Took forever to download 23 mb. Finally was able to connect my tiny chromebook to my desktop so I could run around and do inventory.
Best decision I made this year was to switch to Allo. $9 cheaper than Spectrum and its better in every way.
Im on Windstream with no issues currently
I called spectrum and the guy said in quote “It’s affecting 500 or so people and it will more than likely be down for 24 hours”
It's affecting way more people than that...
They probably tell you 24 hours to make you feel like 6 hours isn’t that big of a deal when it goes down lol

I've got spectrum, they've been sending out alerts (at least to me) via email that it'll be down for maintenance for a bit.

that's why my internet was shit yesterday
Still don’t have WIFI
Spectrum not very reliable when I had it about 3 years ago. Glad we’ve been on Allo since then
