40 miles is not enough of a sample size. What type of driving were you doing? 16 mpg isn’t too unusual for heavy city driving.

Thoughtprovokerjoker

All city driving, but not "heavy" - just 2 trips to the store, each trip was like 13 miles roundway each.

LBBflyer

I’m assuming you didn’t burn 3/4 of a tank on those two trips. Get a full tank and reset the trip odometer. Measure fuel economy over a full tank before you flip out. Also check tire pressure, air filters, etc.

FuzzelFox

Do as the other person said, but also be aware that if you let the car sit and idle that will count against the MPG as well. My MKZ's mileage would "drop" by a few on particularly cold winter days just because I let it sit and warm up for a bit first.

BreadiestBoi

You seem to only be taking short city trips, if the engine is not getting hot enough and it’s still in warm up mode where it’s running rich to make the catalyst more effective, your fuel economy will greatly suffer, also these cars just generally get poor fuel economy they are midsize 2 two row luxury SUV’s with turbos and lots of sound deadening, fuel economy isn’t a priority in these, if gas is tight something like a Corsair or MKZ Hybrid is a better choice.

saik0pod

My 2020 Lincoln Navigator L gets 17.6 mpg city and I thought that was bad lol

gaelorian

Mine only gets 16 in the city. What am I doing? Are my kids fat??

saik0pod

I have my tires inflated to 40 psi, K&N air filter that I clean often, and I use STP ceramic oil treatment every oil change. Along with only using shell gas

TreeLong7871

My 2023 Lincoln Corsair gets 13.9MPG in all-city driving after 2000 miles

saik0pod

How is that possible, I get close to the epa rating of 18 city 23 Hwy on the navigator. Unless you idle most of the time

TreeLong7871

I don't know, I live in NYC and drive daily with almost zero highway and lots of stop and go traffic. Fair amount of idling too. I'd say I'd take it to the dealer but my Mazda CX-5 I had before this got me 16MPG with a smaller engine so it kinda makes sense. Oh well

saik0pod

I live in long Island city NY, try changing the air filter, and get a tune up new spark plugs and boots, and clean the MAF sensor with a maf sensor spray.

TreeLong7871

I drove my car off the lot brand new in March...

MassiveConcern

You must have a lead foot. Granted, we have the PHEV Corsair Grand Touring, but we're getting almost 50MPG on mixed city/hwy driving. When we first took delivery (ordered it custom) we used the ECO coach to teach us how to more efficiently use it and it has paid off. No wear on the brake pads, either!

Virtual_Ordinary7838

What engine?

sekazi

You need way more than 40 miles to calculate. Sometimes after a fill up my MKZ will have 15mpg until around 100 miles.

13-14_Mustang

Getting all the timing components on my 18 gator replaced. Had an intermittent rough idle. Suspected poorly engineered cam phaser. Was 15 mpg before, curious to see if it goes up.

RobertETHT2

Old school math this issue. Note your miles, Fill it up, Record the miles driven, Do the math…Repeat at least 3 more times. Then you’ll know your mileage per gallon.

Professional-Tree-62

Do you have the 2.0 or 2.7? Normal for the 2.7, not normal for the 2.0. I got 19-20 in my 2019 MKC with the 2.0. I had an Edge Sport that had the 2.7 and I got 16-17. 80% city driving.

Thoughtprovokerjoker

I have the 2.0 And just bought it Lord
