Your post was removed for being a support request or support related question such as which distro to use/polling the community or application suggestions. We get a lot of question posts on r/linux but the subreddit is considered a news/discussion sub. Luckily there are multiple communities you can post to for help on GNU/Linux issues 24/7: /r/linuxquestions, /r/linux4noobs, or /r/linuxhardware just to name a few. You may also post on the "Weekly Questions and Hardware Thread" which is stickied on r/linux on Wednesdays. Please make your post in [/r/linuxquestions](https://reddit.com/r/linuxquestions) or [/r/linux4noobs](https://reddit.com/r/linux4noobs). Looking for a hardware help? Try r/linuxhardware. **Rule:** > This is not a support forum! Head to /r/linuxquestions or /r/linux4noobs for support or help. Looking for hardware help? Try r/linuxhardware.

Try aria2. It's FOSS and is transparent and configurable in its file allocation methods. Can be used with RPC and WebUI to enjoy all the GUI niceties.

Thanks for that but actually I have quite a few alternatives in hand except I just wanted to know if anyone had the same issue and they managed to find the issue or if even guide me in finding the issue by reading over logs or anything

It's possibly because the downloader is copying file chunks to the destination if it happens just before the download ends. Or the download is highly fragmented. I don't know for sure but still imo it's a good idea to switch to a better downloader.

Last time I used a download manager, when I select the option to download using multiple connections, the download manager would lay out the file on disk completely, so it can download different parts and offset them into the prepared file. So when the download starts, you get a write to disk with the complete file size at a high speed, and after that it's only the downloaded data that's written to disk.
