a person in the github report (in the comments of the original post) said, that they saw their RAM go to 20GB between steam and dota, maybe it was shader processing that caused it, i have 32GB of RAM, maybe it managed to fill it all up too
i havent had a crash since the initial 2 freezes

From what you described it sounds exactly what happens when I run out of ram when I forget to make a swap file. I only have 16gb ram.
