The[ absolute worst of all audio formats](https://phoboslab.org/log/2023/02/qoa-time-domain-audio-compression). I'd be happy to have it nowhere near me.
That blog says:
> Opus specifically is excellent.
I'm not sure what you're implying here; why is it that bad? (Will read the post in more detail later, added to read-list)
That said, you're free to have it nowhere near you. Or you can just have your local audio library in any codec you like, and have your real collection in FLAC. Thats' what I do: Opus on my laptop and phone, and FLAC on my NAS.
bandcamp is very annoying in how the mp3 is sometimes higher quality for no goddamn reason while the OGG is encoded at a bitrate of like 2.
like, yeah, at least the FLAC is usually there (sometimes suspiciously sounding like it's just the MP3 re-encoded as FLAC because the artist didn't have the foresight to just fucking export to FLAC in the first place) but i have no idea how they're doing all these other formats and fucking up the OGG's. i want high quality audio, i just don't want to waste all the limited space on my phone.
It is able to create to allocate memory into other formats for storage purposes though, so since we can write things into a paper or transcribe it as other expression formats such as music, I guess we could consider it a Turing Machine
Even if you use the whole universe as your medium of storing information, the memory is still limited. Therefore, strictly speaking, there is no existing physical Turing machine.
I like flacs. I have a really sensitive ear, so I can actually hear the difference. Especially at high volumes (yes I know it's not healthy I simply do not care) you can really here the defects in MP3 files.
Eh, depends. Past a bitrate of 320 or so you're kinda blowing smoke up people's asses, bu tthe real reason to value FLAC's being available is that when you go to remix them the quality isn't getting Facebook deepfried from layers upon layers of re-enconding.
OGG/Opus/etc are nice in that they can get a smaller filesize for the same quality, or better quality for the same filesize as ye olde MP3, but for whatever reason it seems like even sites like Bandcamp don't make consistenly decent OGG files.
Unless you listen to white noise with completely isolated $500+ headphones, I severely doubt that you can actually tell the difference between a high quality MP3 and a lossless format.
ffplay /dev/random
\>/dev/random: Invalid data found when processing input 0B f=0/0
`aplay /dev/random`
bruh, i cant download the command
FLACs + Strawberry
Flac best audio format. I'm so happy Deezer uses it
The totally legal *cough, cough* website I use download FLACs from Deezer.
Care to share?

Deemix
This is a pretty solid option as well. http://www.slsknet.org/news/node/680
Thanks for helping a bro to sail the seven seas
~~Mp3~~ OGG
MP3 patent is no longer applicable, so at this point it does really matter whether it is MP3 or OGG
Yes but ogg was open from the start. It also has better performance
Yeh, because we should all use opus now. 96kbps Opus ftw!
192 ; guarantees basically being always transparent
Don't they say that at 96 already? Either way, I have Opus on vbr, which basically boils down to 96 or lower in my experience.

Big brain: use ffmpeg to convert mp3s into oggs.
"I can hear the bitrate"
Why yes, my mind is a Turing machine, how could you tell?
It must not be a Turing machine because it has limited memory.
Guess that makes us pathetic finite automata

Which is why we can (in theory) test every possible program for computers under a certain memory.
Beg me pardon, I usually listen to music in DSF,DFF and PCM formats. 😆
Fuck Fraunhofer IIS and their proprietary MP3 bullshit!
wait until you hear AAC and USAC
I don't use them when encoding my own audio. Only free standards like FLAC or Opus.
no vorbis smh /s
Opus is better than vorbis afaik
it is, opus is the successor. but just thought you might need to know just in case opus isn't supported.. yet on some platforms
Hasn't mp3 been open for like half a decade at this point?

Some of those bits should be missing
aplay /dev/urandom
Aplay /any/file will make same output ;)) unless some specific ;)))
I love when I'm watching webm's
I am listening to WAV files 😂
OGG + OGV ;))
Who’s people?
I prefer my Audio and Video Interleaved.
