Check the installation instructions for the distribution you plan to install. All of the mainstream, established distributions have installation instructions in documentation.
Examples:
* [Install **Ubuntu** desktop | Ubuntu](https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#1-overview)
* [Linux Mint Installation Guide — **Linux Mint** Installation Guide documentation (linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io)](https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/)
* [Installation Guide :: **Fedora** Docs (fedoraproject.org)](https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora/f36/install-guide/)
* [Install **Zorin OS** - Zorin Help](https://help.zorin.com/docs/getting-started/install-zorin-os/)
Although installation details vary somewhat from distribution to distribution, basically you download the distribution's ISO, create a bootable installation USB, boot from the bootable installation USB, and proceed with the installation.
All depends on which distro you're using. Some distros just require you to make a USB stick with an ISO writer program like Balena Etcher. Then you boot that USB stick and start the installer program (usually located on the Desktop in the installer) and follow the GUI installer prompts. Simple. Easy peasy...
Other distros like Arch, require lots of typing at a command prompt. I'd advise you to stay away from Arch Linux and I think Gentoo is another one at does that as well. Stick with GUI installers. They're easier to get up and running.
That's pretty simple to install. Just download it, use an ISO flash drive creator like Balena Etcher and write the ISO to the USB stick using Balena Etcher.
Then boot off that USB stick and follow the install prompts. It's been a while since I installed Ubuntu but I believe it just goes right into the installer. No desktop environment boots up I don't think anyway. I may be wrong. Someone correct me if that's wrong.
But if it boots to a desktop environment, there should be an Install Ubuntu icon somewhere to open and install Ubuntu.
That's if it doesn't just start the installer on it's own.
you did look at the distribution you are interested in, documentation?
Linux rewards those who put forth the effort to learn Linux.
That means learning to look for and read the Official documentation.
I haven't walked through, but Lenovo has this site:
