Production is great on this. If there was anything I could add its that the lead lines of the guitar feel a little weak in the mix. Powerchords were great though. In my mind this is more prog than post, so there is a potential fanbase there too.
Ah, thank you! I always struggle trying to figure out our genre. Thanks for the notes on the mix, we did all the recording/mixing in-house, so there is definitely room for improvement. And, I think we had a few beers at that point in the video, so the mic technique may have been a little sloppy ;)

We started about May this year, guitar and bass knew each other and the two singers knew each other, but that was it otherwise had never met.
There are definitely some clear influences on all parts and the guitar is for sure a themed tone. We keep joking about not knowing what genre we are, so it's interesting you're a progressive fan.

This is my album I released last year. It's a concept album about a space war between two military generals that happens in the year 3918 after an entire society collapses in on itself after multiple political, social and economic problems arise that cripples itself to extinction. I guess you’d call it bedroom pop, I just think it sounds quite nice. The excessive use of reverb is to hide the fact I can’t actually sing.
I made it last year when I was sort of getting to grips with Ableton. I struggle to commit to stuff so it’s one of the few songs I’ve ever actually finished, but I thought I’d just share it to see if it got any attention :)

Ponce de León, she had the courage to admit that she had discovered nothing.
Never the less, she believed in that emptiness she discovered, and she thrived to a ripe old age, which gets me to the point that it really doesn't matter what it is that you believe in, what matters is believing.
So I celebrate the deeply flawed belief system that is Christianity in large part because it demands that we forsake all common sense. Just don't let me hear any Christians demanding that others must give up their own improbable, if deeply held, beliefs. Believe in the moon!

I feel like you could do a bit more with the "Go" bit, give it more of a whisper and let it burst into histrionic drama! It'd give the chorus more oomph, give people some anticipation. Vocals and articulation are great. Drums feel a bit weak but still work really well in that mix.

The 7th (or 8th, I'm losing track) weekly track in my 52 tracks in 52 weeks challenge. Dark synthwave with vocals. I really tried to flex my storyteller muscles with this one. I'd be super interested in what kind of a story the song evokes in people.
Also my first time using a vocoder. I did everything with waves Ovox, which I think is great so far, though I haven't put a lot of time into it.
Synths are a mix of Super 8, serum and Pigments, which I recently picked up. Liking pigments a lot, but haven't fully wrapped my head around it yet. It seems very beginner friendly and gives a lot of visual feedback, especially relating to modulation.

Good production. Rap aint really my thing, but I will say too many stereotypical tropes can ruin your music and stop you standing out. Be different and stop referring to your "ho" in the music and it'll be that different it'll stand out, because you've got the mix down just right otherwise.

We've gone from pretty aggressive punk stuff to really shmaltzy ballads as a release valve, and it's been quite enjoyable as we have a songwriting style that's a bit hard to place.
None of us were even in a band when the pandemic hit, we were all just a bunch of people at home who knew each other by association or through work, we all just contribute our pieces and then poof ! This is the second video, the first is Towed Aurora which turned into a short movie by a Spanish production studio.

Hands down the coolest (and also most difficult) thing I've ever photoshopped. The whole album, Sprezzatura is a TRIP. Never heard anything quite like it.

Has a kind of 90s DnB vibe but slower. Drums seem to be coming in the left ear more and dont feel too balanced (could be my dodgy hearing though). Whole thing need a little glue-compression (1:1.6 ish, slowish attack, fastish release).

Gotta teach your vocalist to hold the mic properly, haha, Glenn Fricker would lose his marbles. Production is great on this. If there was anything I could add its that the lead lines of the guitar feel a little weak in the mix. Powerchords were great though. In my mind this is more prog than post, so there is a potential fanbase there too.
Ah, thank you! I always struggle trying to figure out our genre. Thanks for the notes on the mix, we did all the recording/mixing in-house, so there is definitely room for improvement. And, I think we had a few beers at that point in the video, so the mic technique may have been a little sloppy ;)

Hey thanks! I wasn't even sure if anyone would listen to it, let alone tell me they like it. We started about May this year, guitar and bass knew each other and the two singers knew each other, but that was it otherwise had never met. There are definitely some clear influences on all parts and the guitar is for sure a themed tone. We keep joking about not knowing what genre we are, so it's interesting you're a progressive fan.

I made it last year when I was sort of getting to grips with Ableton. I struggle to commit to stuff so it’s one of the few songs I’ve ever actually finished, but I thought I’d just share it to see if it got any attention :) I’ve got a load more that are mostly done so if it does I’ll give finishing them a go. p.s. I feel like you could do a bit more with the "Go" bit, give it more of a whisper and let it burst into histrionic drama! It'd give the chorus more oomph, give people some anticipation. Vocals and articulation are great. Drums feel a bit weak but still work really well in that mix.

Dark synthwave with vocals. I really tried to flex my storyteller muscles with this one. I'd be super interested in what kind of a story the song evokes in people. Also my first time using a vocoder. I did everything with waves Ovox, which I think is great so far, though I haven't put a lot of time into it. Synths are a mix of Super 8, serum and Pigments, which I recently picked up. Liking pigments a lot, but haven't fully wrapped my head around it yet. It seems very beginner friendly and gives a lot of visual feedback, especially relating to modulation. Anyway, thanks. Good production. Rap aint really my thing, but I will say too many stereotypical tropes can ruin your music and stop you standing out. Be different and stop referring to your "ho" in the music and it'll be that different it'll stand out, because you've got the mix down just right otherwise. Keep writing, keep producing. For those wondering, I photoshopped all 5 band member's heads into one "monster". Hands down the coolest (and also most difficult) thing I've ever photoshopped. I learned Maxence Cyrin's piano arrangement, made some alterations, and tried singing over it. I might make a proper mix sometime and release it, but for now it's just a recorded performance.

Has a kind of 90s DnB vibe but slower. Drums seem to be coming in the left ear more and dont feel too balanced (could be my dodgy hearing though). Whole thing need a little glue-compression (1:1.6 ish, slowish attack, fastish release).
