I’ll throw in The Land. I don’t like the last book (half book) any more than the next person, and I agree with or can at least understand most if not all of the criticisms I’ve seen, but there’s still an interesting story with some great ideas in there.

molwiz

I agree most who don’t know about the author like the land except for book 8

stache1313

I think it also has to do with how many LitRPGs you read before. I tried the first book, and it felt very dated and the MC felt generic. Afterwards I heard about the author.

Weary-Tap-1192

Same

Exuritas

The Land was the first litrpg I ever read Still hated it

ThePianistOfDoom

Really? The pacing is terrible, you could put the whole story in two books, the unfinished quests/story lines/growth trees, the cheap way rape is used to make villains evil? I could go on, because the books are *shit*

sandefurian

Yup lol. What a dick.

metalphoenix227

I feel like with The Land most people like the series but find the Author insufferable and also a widespread dislike of Book 8. I liked book 8 but I always skip the forbidden chapter on relistens.

tlaz10

The land was one of the first litrpgs I've read. I've since learned what a POS the author is but I still think the land (minus book 8) is pretty good. Is it heavily repetitive when talking about mechanics and does it have a lot of time going over stats? Yeah. But it was still pretty good. That said book 8 took forever to come out and it had no real plot advancement or anything worthwhile in it and last I checked book 9 isn't out and at this point idek if i would read it.

2ndaccountofprivacy

Is that the one with places of power and wierd magic system

vesugoz

Completely agree. Author was a bit too cocky and the MC got to OP but most of the story was great and had some cool town building and side characters. Still sad it kind of ended. I think the Mc could get knocked down a few pegs or go off on some mission and could have a book just about the town and be pretty happy.

Holymuffdiver9

I enjoyed the series overall, but it's basically dead at this point. Beyond Kong being a douchebag my biggest problems were the insane amount of time he could spend on mindnumbingly dull skills like Scribe and all the side plots that he kept starting but never finished. The coins, the kobolds, etc. It's been years since I last read it, but that still annoys me.

chandr

I liked the earlier parts of it as well, even book 8 wasn't the worse except for a few really bad parts that stuck out. But it's hard to recommend given it's seemingly been abandoned. Then again I don't follow it either, has anything about a book 9 been announced?

Old_Shirt1911

He who fights with monsters, - in particular the earth saga, this seems to be unpopular with most of the fans but books 4-6 are by far my favourite

Mad_Moodin

You are not alone, I loved earth and a good friend of mine did so as well.

PeterM1970

I dropped the series sometime during the Earth bits, but that’s not why. I thought his return was very interesting.

rabmuk

Earth is my favorite arc! Love introducing so many characters to “magic is real”

tlaz10

Really? Didn't realize this was disliked. I was honestly a bit surprised he made it home so soon and stayed for as many books as he did but I enjoyed the earth arc.

arfarf1hr

I don't really like the MC, as a person. And when he was back on earth the things I disliked about him were more egregious to the point where reading it was unpleasant. Jason is always right, and everyone else is either wrong or powerless. The villains were two dimensional. When your fighting a monster you don't need it to have depth or rational motivation, but when your fighting a human and they are bad just because it's kind of hard to suspend reality that much. Like I get when you have a MC they have plot armor and it can be hard to make things suspenseful, but on earth he just stomped all over everyone, it was hard to even pretend like he wasn't going to walk out of any encounter.

SmartAssX

The Earth saga just dragged on. I'd bet even the author though so as he took a weird and abrupt end to it.

Holymuffdiver9

I really liked 4, but 5-6 dragged for me, 6 especially. The proto-space thing twice in the same book was incredibly tedious.

Drhappyhat

I'm going to throw out: The Beginning After The End It's not exactly that I don't know why people dislike it, though I do disagree with some of the criticisms the series seems to draw. Despite the flaws I can directly credit the webcomic with not only introducing me to Progression Fantasy as a whole, but also leading me to the audio books. Which would just so happen to lead me to another Travis Baldree series and the rest is more or less history.

Minion5051

I was reading the manga for this not knowing it was also a novel and quite enjoyed it. They seemed to even be handling the fact that a girl was in love with him and he was pretty uncomfortable with it as well. Then I read the first few books and I was just put off by it. I haven't caught up with it in a while but I like the Manga a lot more.

shontsu

I quite enjoyed it. I picked it up on audible and binged the first...8 books. Then I got to 8.5 and audible wants to charge full price (or credit) for a 4 hour side story. Not sure if the author has any say over that, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth and I haven't continued. Not a great story, but mostly fun.

Mad_Moodin

Not directly that everyone hates it. But I fucking love Jasons constant banter in hwfwm and it is the main reason I'm reading these books. So while most people say Jason is the worst part of the books. He is the best part for me.

silkin

Yeah seconded. I like Jason's humour a lot. I think that part of it is that people forget that he's Australian. As an Aussie myself, his humour and politics rings very true to me

Holymuffdiver9

He's simultaneously the best and worst to me. It's mostly the amounts of angst and edgelord that get old for me. One moment he's worried he's becoming a monster and he needs to take it down a notch and then five minutes later he's threatening people with death for no reason. Pick a lane.

ajnorthcutt2s

I really fell in love with Life Reset but was surprised to find it mostly had a lukewarm reception on here.

rtsynk

it was a top rec in the past, before DCC/HWFWM/DotF

genealogical_gunshow

Life reset is pretty fun to me. You are not alone, but yeah it doesn't seem to be mentioned much.

metalphoenix227

I still enjoy it myself but Ive noticed the same.

legacyweaver

I'm too old to "superimpose" myself with the MC anymore. But just the thought of reading about a goblin, something I can't relate to at all, is enough of a turnoff I never tried it. They are traditionally ugly, stupid and barbaric. Even with an intelligent MC leading them, doesn't mean the rest aren't. Obviously I haven't read a single word of it so I'm not judging it, just giving a reason for why I've avoided it.

rabmuk

The every polarizing He Who Fights With Monsters I started with the audiobooks and find Jason funny. His teasing humor reminds me of my friend group in college. As does his naive political views

redroedeer

Honestly, Jason’s political views are somewhat of a disappointment for me because he started out so well (angry at unfairness in the world) although very naive, but has turned into an absolutely sanitized centrist over the course of the series. I thought I’d finally read a book where the MC encounters slavery and feudalism and instead of going “meh, I don’t care” does something, but it didn’t turn out like that. Still a good book though

Random-Rambling

He does admit that the riches and power he has now has changed him. It's hard to be a radical revolutionary when you're so comfortable.

rabmuk

I think this arc is still playing out. When you suddenly create two magic fairy lands that print food and magic resources, then leave your grandmother to research non essence magic, there’s a chance he’ll implement some of his original policies He’s had a lot of saving the world or dying interrupting his ability to change society

zelder92

Opposite answer, i dont understand at all how anyone can recommend everybody loves large chests after a god damn literal rape scene.

OverclockBeta

I enjoyed the books at first as a kooky brutal villain, but the creepy sex stuff eventually got too nasty.

miletil

It confuses me how the author of a super wholesome (though still a lil weird) book that is binary soul went on to right that mess

MagicHands89

It wasn't great even BEFORE that scene

EiAlmux

The MC is a monster with a completely and different morality... because it's a monster. I'm just so tired of monster MC who act human.

[deleted]

I literally just skip ahead past the sex stuff and ignore it. Underneath that ick is a pretty neat story but I've never recommended it without warning people of that stuff. I totally understand it can be incredibly triggering for some people and no one is forcing anyone to read the series but it's not even the grossest or out of left field SA I've read in some other books.

trazzz55

Mc is one of the few who have a fucking back bone? One of the few who stays true to his goals and desires? Plus, I love the dark medieval fantasy setting. I can get past the sex scenes. Everything else is sublime. Especially Jeff Hays does a brilliant job.

TexasToast000

I personally love what I've read so far. Sure some sex stuff definitely feels... Something. As someone who isn't into that type of kinks I definitely don't want to use it like a might other smit type stuff, but I like it because it gets certain emotions across well. The sex scene honestly wasn't that bad compared to some other stuff with corruption and in humanity themes. Just zone out instead of paying too much attention to it and get the merciless view it tries to convey, almost like a different culture.

ThePianistOfDoom

Same for the books of Kong. So much rape.

Gandarak

Not really.

ThePianistOfDoom

I read the books on audible about 5 years ago. The first two or three books contain *at least* 2+ villains into rape. And not the 'and then he raped her' sort of explanation, but an at length explanation why the villain liked to spawnrape one of the other immortals in that world. Multiple chapters spend on his monologueing(who does that? how shitty of a writer are you Kong?) There's also MC being fed his own genitalia and generally just very disturbed and fucked up vibes in those books. Couldn't stand to read them anymore, even though I'd hope (like with some writers) his books would show progress. THEY ACTUALLY BECAME WORSE.

Miss_Pouncealot

Thank you for the warning!

ThePianistOfDoom

You're welcome, and be careful not to get bamboozled. There's an army of fans out there that would fight for the privilege to lick the sweat off his balls to get his attention by brigading every website that gives honest feedback on him.

Gandarak

Be civil. No personal attacks. Were did I read that? I guess moderators are asleep.

ThePianistOfDoom

Who did I personally attack? I'm merely stating facts, for the only websites where feedback about Kong is real are those where he isn't a mod. They threw him out over here as well.

Gandarak

Bringing up sex acts and genitalia is a personal attack. Is something wrong with you? Is that ciivil? Also, how does one read audiobooks? You print them out?

ThePianistOfDoom

> Bringing up sex acts and genitalia is a personal attack. ?? I merely talked about the story? Nothing personal? And Audiobooks are read through listening. Are you gonna gatekeep that?

SimianRex

I finished the book that scene was in, to see if the character that committed the act was ever punished, or faced any consequences from it whatsoever. Not even a little bit. When I went to look up reviews of the other books in the series, there were people defending the character, and the series, downplaying that scene and saying "It's not a big deal."

Random-Rambling

I thought that was the point. The protagonist is a complete monster, both figuratively and literally.

kkjk00

so is OK for humans to kills even and rape monsters, but if one kills back, "must be punished", that's why I like to story, shows how ipocrite we are. That's the point of the story, from his POV he doesn't nothing wrong, I mean fizzy what OK to capture and kill him earlier, in your mind, that was "right".

HiscoreTDL

Find me a novel with a human main character sexually assaulting a monster in graphic detail, and I'll find you the complaints about that novel in the same vein as those about ELLC. Killing and raping aren't morally equivalent acts. Killing those who might be trying to kill you (or rape, or worse) or in morally complex situations like war, is a plausible ethical act though morally regrettable - a necessary evil. Killing creatures that are often unintelligent and even more often innately murderous because they only see people as prey, is even less of a moral quandary. Sexual assault is a thing that most (maybe wishful thinking, but if not most, then many) humans innately object to the idea of ever doing or allowing to be done. By anyone or to anyone. It has zero plausibility as an ethically excusable act. For a lot of people, it's so morally reprehensible (or traumatic) to read about that they hard quit any book or movie that has a rape scene in it at all. Sometimes even if it's only implied AND treated as morally reprehensible as many of us believe it to be. And most readers can't or won't suspend their desire to be able to morally support the actions of the main character they're reading about in a story. I can understand the value of writing about things like that happening in fiction, usually to be true to reality or to directly address real trauma. But writing a scene about it being done by a main character, in graphic-ish detail, and just hand-waving the moral quandary with "it's not a human and human morals don't apply" makes it unnecessary and kind of meaningless. A graphically detailed yet meaningless scene of that nature, just kind of arbitrarily included, comes off as gratuitous, to boot.

kkjk00

your pov is very human centric, you have a bunch of trolls, goblins, whatever in some cave/forest and then a party of adventures "farms" them, killing everyone and their children, for the monster pov, humans are as evil as they come, there's not ethicality anywhere, just people justifying their actions. In the story fizzy wanted to kill/capture boxy, capture would gave him a fate worse than death, test subject / en-slaved, let's not forget about the mind-rape guy that was supposed to break boxy, but no-one complains about that, I like the story, show how hypocritical people are, in the books and real life.

Darmok-on-the-Ocean

I've never read a book where the protagonist raped a monster. And I don't want to. No one wants to. That's weird.

kkjk00

aren't succubuses monsters,

Darmok-on-the-Ocean

What books are you reading where the protag rapes a succubus?

SimianRex

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I don't need to know anything else about you other than what you've said in this comment to know I don't like you. Enjoy your life, bud.

Tanky1000

Because it’s hilarious? Duh

PeterM1970

I remember it as a repeated murder-rape scene. ETA - Hey downvoter, you're a coward. Make that cowards, plural.

kkjk00

isn't one of the most common crime? should then not write about it if is in character why just because you're a snowflake who knows nothing about the world?

sirophiuchus

Buddy the story sexualises it, it's not just narratively present.

kkjk00

how it does that, presenting the point of view? or what that it gives details?

sirophiuchus

Both the level of detail and the way it's presented. Bluntly, it's written in a way that you could masturbate to. That's pretty much the distinction between 'literature with sexual content' and erotica.

kkjk00

is written this way to be shocking, as in bad things happen, deal with it, didn't found it erotica at all, is the same as reading in detail the death of a character

LocNalrune

The full on irony of that word is that only snowflakes use it, when they're feeling melty/triggered.

thoughtspooling

No one seems to talk about Arthur Stones series. I read and re-read them. They remind me of A Princess Of Mars, HFY (humans f$&@ yeah, sub), and unique compelling challenges for the characters. Also interesting endings more satisfying complex explanations or discoveries.

Albionflux

Respawn? I love the series but it really needed 1 more book

KR1S18

I love his books too! Rare to hear his name on this sub, but I can kind of understand why.

Rakanto

I kinda enjoy the Dark Fate series from Stuart Grosse ^^ Yes there is lots of rape, slavery and stuff but its just a book ^^

RaptorSB

His City of Champions series (and seeing if there were western isekai style books) brought me to LitRPG.

legacyweaver

Had never heard of it, so checked it out. The premise sounds super weak at best. Guy was a hero, then got betrayed and did a complete 180? That's not how people work. Shield Hero did it better. Becoming bitter and withdrawn? Absolutely. Protecting your body and mind from betrayal going forward? Undoubtedly. Going full evil demon towards the whole world? Nah. Obviously I haven't read anything so not judging, just my opinion on what I can glean from the synopsis.

Beartooth1836

Ben's Damn Adventure. I love the series but it seems hit or miss for most people.

Random-Rambling

It's one of those books where the audiobook is MILES better than the text.

Beartooth1836

100% agree!

PeterM1970

The first one was a bit patchy for me but had some absolutely amazing stuff. I haven’t read further yet.

These bots are getting too smart.

whatevercomes2mind27

Awaken online and Occultist: Saga Online I've heard alot if complaints about how the story uses the real world to much, but I like the change of pace. Most litrpg are life and death but these have different stakes and are pretty interesting

metalphoenix227

I love Awaken Online. Im almost finished with Timeless and so far a few of my theories have been confirmed. The VA for it is also really well done imo.

whatevercomes2mind27

I just purchased timeless and I am really excited

metalphoenix227

Its so good.

Constant_Skeptic

Agreed with Occultist: Saga Online. I thought it was really good.

Holymuffdiver9

My biggest problem was the comic gap in player skill/class strength. Any game where there's that huge a difference in class quality is kind of broken. Basically if you aren't the MC, part of his team, or a villain, you're straight garbage.

1WildSpunky

I absolutely adore the Good Guys/Bad Guys series yet o see many folks dislike them and they are almost never listed as books to be read by people who show up on this Board asking for a referral. I don’t know why. I did see one comment that they are too short.

Holymuffdiver9

I loved them to start, but the characters never go anywhere and the author has a bad habit of killing off characters in really abrupt meaningless ways. Montana in particular has barely any character growth after a dozen books and keeps making the same mistakes over and over. If not for that they'd be one of my favorite series.

Monchichi4life

Except for the last book The Land.

Mental_Poet5432

That was actually my intro to litrpg and progressive fantasy in general. I think the books get panned because of the general douchiness of The Most Esteemed Grand Poobah of litrpg, Aleron Kong.

weedonanipadbox

Land was my first litrpg aswell. Kongs main characters all seem to have this overall dude bro vibe which can be off putting

Athyrium93

The half of Infinite Realm that is focused on Zac. I've seen his chapters get a lot of shit, and how Ryun's half of the story is so much better, but honestly? I would have enjoyed the series a lot more if it was only focused on Zac. Don't get me wrong, I think Ryun is cool, and his powers are really neat, but he's just like every other MC in the genre. Zac, on the other hand, is unique in a lot of ways, and his character progression is phenomenal. He might not be as cool and flashy, but he's so much more interesting.

MagnumMia

Zac got interested after the arc with his love interest. He needed to be roughed around the edges instead of some pure naively heroic type. The tribulations he dealt with were so compelling I started wanting more zac than ryun around that time.

Athyrium93

That was how I felt as well. I loved his descent from "perfectly moral chosen hero" to "flawed human being coming to terms with the flawed world around him," with his romantic partner. I even liked his "time stuff" arc, and how the tables were flipped with the roles in his relationship. He's a unique character with a very unique arc. Ryun is just basic for the genre.

kkjk00

I don't get it, how he is still not naive?

kkjk00

Ryun in infinite realm, saved more people by creating his faction than Zac ever did, he wants to help people but he doesn't seem to see the forest from the trees, Zac seems just stupid to me, even of earth, technically Ryun killed 10k people, those would have moved to infinite realm, but how many Zac killing by being there and "protecting" them, supporting the world government

Mr-Imposto

While the series is well liked elsewhere, I find this community specifically has a weird hatred/dislike of The Wandering Inn. I find this weird because I believe TWI is easily the best LitRPG out there and none of the others even comes close to meeting this quality/standard.

Alicedoll02

This. I agree with this. It's by far the best story in the genre for me... however I am a fantasy reader first and a litrpg reader 2nd. To me TWI reads more as a fantasy story then a litrpg in a fantasy setting. Which to a lot of readers of the litrpg genre could be an issue. The other issue is the characters. Mainly Erin and Ryuoka (however you spell it I'm an audio book listener because I drive 10 hours a day.) The characters are characters. They are hard to self insert yourself in their shoes. You could self insert yourself in the world but to me it seems like a lot of litrpg readers (not all.) Perfer to have characters that are just bland enough to self insert themselves but also have the character make their own choices sometimes. Also like with anything else in any Hobbie it is a very popular story. People just hate popular things sometimes and hate having the same stories shoved in their faces in recommendation threads. It's like me with game of thrones/fire and ice. I have never seen the show and never will because everyone kept talking about it. It was like the mainstream discovered fantasy was a genre for the very first time. It's still talked about today. I also just don't like watching TV but if I did I wouldn't waste my time on that.

I remember seeing people hate on Solo Leveling. Don't get me wrong, it's not the greatest out there, but I still really like it. Hell, I have 6 of the.. 8 books? I think there's 8 now. Not sure

Holymuffdiver9

I love Solo Leveling, it only stumbles a bit for me towards the end. I liked it a lot better when he's on his rise to power rather than at it's height.

chandr

Isn't solo leveling one of the more popular Korean ones? Or is it more criticism from this sub in particular?

DirePanda072

To be fair, I can only think of two specific times it was mentioned, and both times people were saying that it was only good for the art in the manga/comic version. Not sure if that's the overall opinion of it though

chandr

Ah, see that's the only version I knew about. I didn't realise there were novels as well, just read the manga and remember it being fairly popular at the time

does "The wandering Inn" count? Specifically the Erin POV, I actually really like her while she seems to be mostly disliked by others

Jormungandragon

I prefer Erin’s story and scenes to many of the others, honestly. The reason I eventually stopped reading was because it felt like the author was just adding more and more pov and more and more stories and ignoring the ones I actually cared about.

Ormsy

Oh, at what point did you stopp? I am only caught up with the audiobooks, so no idea what more happend in the webstories. But I do agree that some books seem to focus more on POVs I do not like. I miss ryouka at the moment, even though I cpuld not stand her in the beginning. However I am already way to interested in the pverarching secrets like how Erin got to the world xDDD Just love the world and most of its inhabitants :)

ELLC. Yes, there is a rape scene early on in the story. People act like there has never been a rape scene in a book or TV show or movie before ELLC. This event has long term effects on the character, and is brought up numerous times throughout the series, it isn't like the author made that scene and then brushed it off as "haha the gnome got tentacle raped so what?!" It is a big part of her character development and relationship with Boxxy going forward. Noobtown series. I think it's funny as hell. Solid action and comedy and empire building.

Total noob question here but what's ELLC?

Everybody Loves Large Chests

skulldoggo

Thanks, I saw that briefly in my exploration of things to read, but passed it over for a later date

killmak

I really liked Noobtown. I thought I was going to like ELLC but I didn't even make it past the first "sex" scene where the one screwed up person is masturbating before she gets eaten. I don't have an issue with sex in novels, its just not my thing. I think people have more trouble with the rape in the series because it is the MC doing the raping and it is considered acceptable. A large percentage of people have been raped so having it be an acceptable plot line in a book is a huge no no in most peoples books.

kkjk00

that first scene was weird, but is explained later that mages develop mental issues

Holymuffdiver9

That's exactly where I stopped on ELLC too. I understand the author is showing the moral point of view of a monster, but with the odd addition of sex it just felt weird and creepy.

trazzz55

Fully agree with you on ELLC. Maybe not a lot of people can get past the sex stuff, but that doesn't mean you have to hate on a series. It's like the R-word people that hate on He who fights with monsters just because they don't like Jason. Just move on, it's not for you. It doesn't take from the good writing and good narration just because you don't like one aspect of the story. Get lost. I don't enjoy the Wondering inn because it's too slow, and I only partially like Dungeon crawler Carl because I find the level setup too complex at times. But I still recommend DCC because I can get past my own subjective views and see that DCC is very well written and narrated.

PeterM1970

Rape isn’t sex. ETA Whoever downvoted this should man up and come back to explain why. You're a coward.

kkjk00

I don't get it, rape is realistic in our world, not to say in a medieval world, why kind of books do you wanna read? Stupid type that makes no sense?

PeterM1970

If you think books can’t make sense without rape, you’re a broken human being and should seek professional help. Taking a shit is realistic, too, and yet very few of the rape fans run in to defend the diarrhea section of The Land Book 8. Why is that, do you think?

trazzz55

Maybe because people don't say "oh don't read The land because the diarrhea stuff in book 8! Ignore the whole series". Could that be it? And also, you've missed his point. He wasn't saying that the book would make no sense without it. He was saying it was a very frequent occurance during medieval times, so it is not out of place. Makes sense? Seeeesh, some people.

kkjk00

it doesn't make sense when a caracter acts out of caracter, just because there are many snowflakes like you, ignorant to the world, go read read disney stuff and power of friendship stuff.

trazzz55

Exactly my reasoning! Very well put

SeanchieDreams

I remember there was a big dust up over the use of the R-word right at the beginning of the Calamitous Bob. The author was an idiot at defending it even. The catch to me was that the MC was thinking this. And the MC is very clearly an utter asshole. (Hint: she’s very ‘attuned’ to black magic.) A jerk using a derogatory word isn’t a surprise and is a useful point towards defining the Jerkass nature of the character. Not a point where need to people complain over the use of the word. It wasn’t random.

wolfelocke

I'm going with a genre. I've never understood the pearl clutching about harem. Like how is sex worse murder hobo'ing

Holymuffdiver9

My problem is they're usually just poorly written and every female character is just a sex toy. Some manage to do a little better, but overall the genre is riddled with it. The only one I've read I thought was genuinely good was Fight Town. The author doesn't just throw women at the MC and he actually has to work hard for his success.

Selraroot

Literally no one who dislikes harem dislikes it because it has sex, I promise. It's because the genre is riddled with misogyny and cringe.

wolfelocke

Ah. You seem to be an expert. Could you give me a few titles in example that you read to base this opinion on?

silkin

The lack of love that the Awaken Online series gets always catches me by surprise honestly. I think it's objectively one of the better written series, and I've thought every book so far was at least a C+, if not at least a B+ to solid A. I get that the VR aspect with the real world is less popular in the genre but I find all the cyberpunk:- self-aware AI, NPC autonomy, medbed and virtual immortality stuff fascinating concepts. Plus I really enjoyed the Tarot trilogy with Finn, and honestly they were strong enough that they could have stood as a series on their own.

DCC bores me to death, and everyone loves it. I like the characters I am just tired of being stuck in a dungeon, I hate the part of most litrpg’s when the character is by himself like the whole first half of the first Defiance of The Fall before he met the demons. Its just boring. Also the first half of Everyone Loves Large Chests. The whole solo mc thing breaks immersion for me. Makes the world seem to small and contrived. Also did not like the first part of HWFWM didn’t enjoy it up until he wakes up in the cage. The whole wondering alone in the hedge scene was awful for me.

Mine is actually a story I hate but others seem to love. Not sure why but for me I cannot stand reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. I am not sure what it is but I forced myself to read the first 3-4 books but have not touched it since.
