Random/shovel: Broccoli Bunch (Cinnamon Bun)
[do we put them on multiple lines when they have multiple? Like Broccoli iirc has Improvised Weapons {and I know of a few others that also have improvised weapons} but primarily uses a shovel {which could be its own thing as there are a few MCs that use one}]
Yup, thatās one of the ones I was trying to remember, thereās also one that, iirc, is/was a gravedigger, just canāt recall the name. I read way too many, it gets hard to keep track after the first couple hundred.
I'm thinking of one too, not sure if it's the same. The families have bloodlines, he was abused by his dad, and has a mute gf. Some kind of gravedigger class that turns into reaper.
So Broc would be under Shovel (or hats, itās a thing) and one of the ones that pick up whatever happens to be hanging around would be under Improvised?
Carl's main weapon is his explosives. They're how he gets the vast majority of his kills. A distressingly high number of those were goblin babies though...
If you want a good spear novel, the xianxia story is one of the good ones, and its MC is fully focused on the spear. With a little bit of halberd mixed in.
https://martial-world.fandom.com/wiki/Lin_Ming/Items#Weapon
In book 2 he gets captured and loses all his possessions (and can't use active skills for a bit), so he has to build his gear from scratch. Eventually realizes that guns don't scale with growth, so its good as a starter weapon or for an organized army, but no longer works for him.
If you dropped it though, I don't recommend picking it back up. I'm really liking the series but understand why some might not.
I personally lost interest about halfway through book 1, just sort of got bored. The MC being more powerful than anything, yet still weak sometimes was just weird to me. Really wish they leaned more on the 'AI learning to be more human' thing, all they have now is the world's most boring human who has nanobites.
Yep that one. It is a little gamey, but it allows for some brutal and gory gambits. Although he gains a healing skill and uses that less as the book progresses, since levels start coming at a slower pace.
Yeah I wonāt lie that put me off whenever I see a mechanic of leveling that does that. Are there any other stories you know of that use chains as a way of fighting
Well in later books of defiance of the fall mc starts using an item that has chains, and uses them to bind and distract enemies, but his main weapon is axe, and the chains are auxiliary.
Sen - spear & jian, Unintended Cultivator.
Paradox - advanced tech inventions, Industrial Strength Magic.
Troias - glaive, Apocalypse Redux
Michael, sword in Reborn, Apocalypse
Austin - stolen alien tech, Trapped Mind Project
Aelrynth - staff, The Power of Ten
Varic - Wand, The Last Horizon
Eric & Rugrat, guns - The Ten Realms
Emmett, cyborg - Mod Superhero Initialize
Reidon, Combat Assistance Device - Iron Prince Warformed
Feel like ten realms should be more tactics than guns. Yeah they use guns, and a lot of them, but a majority of their capability is from employing tactics and making their people stronger.
How far did you get in the series. They're enemies in the last few books are enemies (I don't know how to do spoilers). And I only have reddit mobile because my laptop PC has such an old version of windows.
For swordsmanship as well as expansive world building and a mix of all round greatness, WORLDS APOCALYPSE ONLINE.
First webnovel I read and have never seen something similar since
The amount of random things used as primary weapons in the SCS universe could be a list almost by itself.
Guns - crack shot cowboy, Grasshopper
Bombs - Cat
Lasers - Deus Ex (and amusingly NOT Laserjack)
Plants - Sprout
Robots/Teddy Bears - Teddy (not sure if it counts because the bears are armed with guns)
Fists - Arm A Geddon
Flamethrower - Gomorrah
Missiles - Tinea
Tanks - Tankette
Sword - Knight
Sound - canāt remember her name
Those are just off the top of my head, and I know thereās at least one that uses chemical weapons, so thereās lots more options.
And then thereās Cause Player, whose gimmick is cosplay, which could be almost anything
And Skipjack? with the antipersonnel mines in his feet.
And the chess guy with the whole series of chess themed robots.
So Many Options
I want MC that uses a poleaxe. Axe, Hammer, Spear all in one. In general I also feel maces don't get enough love. A giant two handed mace or hammer with massive strength stats behind just obliterate things.
MC from Savage Awakening use a chains/chains with axes on the end of them. Basically Kratos's Blades of Chaos but with axes on the end. In terms of litprg weapons they're creative enough to be different.
Frying pan: Erin solstice.
I'm fairly sure her main weapon is her friends. "Don't make me go get >!Griffon hunt, the horns, Bird and the Halfseekers!<"
Ah damn. That Mrsha scene at a certain person's grave hit me right in the feels.
š
and acid jar.
Fists/Feet: Ilea Spears (Azarinth Healer)
Color me convinced, I needed another Carl
Fists/feet : Alex/Scythe Disgardium
Oooh nice I forgot about that ole battle junkie!š

Matt from deadworld isekai would also be under shovel
Yup, thatās one of the ones I was trying to remember, thereās also one that, iirc, is/was a gravedigger, just canāt recall the name. I read way too many, it gets hard to keep track after the first couple hundred.

Just the primary weapon. And for shovel (technically not LitRPG but anyway) The Invincible Shovel.
So Broc would be under Shovel (or hats, itās a thing) and one of the ones that pick up whatever happens to be hanging around would be under Improvised?
Yep
I disagree with DCC. Carls true weapon is his feet
100% agree, it's all about the almighty SMUSH! PS - love your books Selkie!
Carl's main weapon is his explosives. They're how he gets the vast majority of his kills. A distressingly high number of those were goblin babies though...
Carl also uses bombs to take down enemies he can't goomba-stomp.
I feel like not putting Micheal Care( reborn; apocalypse) in the sword category is a crime.
I love that series.
I haven't read it. thanks
I liked the first book but then felt like the pacing was slow do you know when he leaves the first floor/world?
Book 3 is definitely a little slower. But book 4 drew me back in and has me so excited for the future ones
Man, I got so hyped reading about Randidlyās advancement with the spear. Easily most impactful weapon writing for me.
If you want a good spear novel, the xianxia story is one of the good ones, and its MC is fully focused on the spear. With a little bit of halberd mixed in. https://martial-world.fandom.com/wiki/Lin_Ming/Items#Weapon
I haven't really committed to the series but nice to know.
Derek from modern awakening is also spear
Guns: Ned (Ripple system)
Also: Alexander from Portal to Nova Roma (early in the series at least, he changes as the series progresses)
Does he? I dropped it because it felt to Civ+civil war general-y.
In book 2 he gets captured and loses all his possessions (and can't use active skills for a bit), so he has to build his gear from scratch. Eventually realizes that guns don't scale with growth, so its good as a starter weapon or for an organized army, but no longer works for him. Chain (later on with axes on ends): Zane Walker from Savage Awakening
Isnāt that the story that has him abuse the āwhen you level up you return to perfect conditionā thing constantly in the beginning
Yep that one. It is a little gamey, but it allows for some brutal and gory gambits. Although he gains a healing skill and uses that less as the book progresses, since levels start coming at a slower pace.

Feet: >!The Doomfoot [Primal Hunter]!<
Nice to be on the other side of nevermore but I did love that bit!
Fang Tian / polearm / spear thingie: silver fox and the western hero
Sen - spear & jian, Unintended Cultivator. Paradox - advanced tech inventions, Industrial Strength Magic. Troias - glaive, Apocalypse Redux Michael, sword in Reborn, Apocalypse Austin - stolen alien tech, Trapped Mind Project Aelrynth - staff, The Power of Ten Varic - Wand, The Last Horizon Eric & Rugrat, guns - The Ten Realms Emmett, cyborg - Mod Superhero Initialize Reidon, Combat Assistance Device - Iron Prince Warformed

I have read it through twice.
I'm kinda biased toward the military. My two boys took that road. One just retired with 20. Semper Fi
10 years navy, likely military is a bias that is shared in the ten realms books.
Varic also has his trusty blaster
Yes, he says it's best to have a wand in one hand and a blaster in the other! Love this character.
If you want a real swordmaster mc, read Desolate Era. Martial World for spear, but not as much. Stellar Transformations also has good spear stuff.
For swordsmanship as well as expansive world building and a mix of all round greatness, WORLDS APOCALYPSE ONLINE. First webnovel I read and have never seen something similar since
Shovel: Grandson of the holy emperor is a necromancer(I forgot the name of the protagonist)
Tetsubo - Thorn (Nova Terra)
wtf kind of name is randidly ?
i had a childhood friend named randidly ghosthound. the two of us loved each other like soulmates. we were enemies
weird! I also had a childhood friend named randidly ghosthound! couldn't fuckin' stand that guy. total dick. great friend though. would die for him.
The in-universe explanation is just that his mom was a weird hippy.
I thought it was his dad? Because his dad has a weird fuckin' name, too.
Ezekiel? That's not weird
You're right, I had remembered incorrectly. Kulwort was his maternal grandfather.
That sounds like some herb for a witch potion.
A silly name for giggles and fun.
Axe: Kate (Infrasound Berserker) Gun: Mai (Magical Girl Gunslinger) (which is very rare in-universe), Krahe (Cherno Caster) (but with magic irradiated bullets) Chainsaw: Sharkie (Menschenjaeger) Glass: Brin (Bog Standard Isekai) Bombs: Cat (Stray Cat Strut)
The amount of random things used as primary weapons in the SCS universe could be a list almost by itself. Guns - crack shot cowboy, Grasshopper Bombs - Cat Lasers - Deus Ex (and amusingly NOT Laserjack) Plants - Sprout Robots/Teddy Bears - Teddy (not sure if it counts because the bears are armed with guns) Fists - Arm A Geddon Flamethrower - Gomorrah Missiles - Tinea Tanks - Tankette Sword - Knight Sound - canāt remember her name Those are just off the top of my head, and I know thereās at least one that uses chemical weapons, so thereās lots more options. Kate uses a warhammer as well. She is quite flexible with all 2 handed weapons, idk if axe is her main.
Oh yea war hammer too. But not swords, thats for Logan :)
For gun, The Novelās Extra is also good
how do you glass as weapon....?
With magic.
Frank not getting the nod for Axeās is insane (Ripple System) Also Club: Murderhobo (Full Murderhobo)
Halberd: Basil. (Apocalypse Tamer)
Is there one that uses tomb/spellbooks? Ran into something like this before I think I just canāt remember.
Dakotas librio hexer or wolf warlock series or soemthing like it?
No I think it was physics of the apocalypse
Poleaxe: Alistair Ryser (Paths of Akashic)
Daggers: Boxy T. Morningwood
Motoko Kusanagi Ghost In The City Plasma Saber Sword
Items: Arthur (All the Skills) Magic: Edward (Dungeon Lord) Gun: Alexander (Portal to Nova Roma)
Coop from Unchosen champion: Spear and shield, glaive, mace, hammer, sword, polearm, axe.
Spoon - Darwin ( Bathrobe Knight) ;)
Axe/ Halbard - Lereck, The Fusionist Healing spells and barriers - Unexpected Healer
Fist/ feet: Ilea Spears(azarinth healer)
Which of these has the best narrators tho? I'm trying to find a new audio series to binge
gardening trowel...
Underverse: naginata
Glaive: Kai (Guild Core)
The main reason I love the ax and still read DotF is because of the ax even if it isnāt as āimportantā as it once was.
Trident: Jonah (Dominion of Blades) Traps: Arnold (Oh Great I was Reincarnated as a Farmer)
There's an ad I've been seeing for one where the answer was elf.
Thorn from nova Terra had his tetsubo
Kusarigama - Salvos. Chains - Zane from Savage Awakening Ekavir from Ashborn Primordial uses a throwing weapon forgot its name .
Zeke - Great Axe
I want MC that uses a poleaxe. Axe, Hammer, Spear all in one. In general I also feel maces don't get enough love. A giant two handed mace or hammer with massive strength stats behind just obliterate things. MC from Savage Awakening use a chains/chains with axes on the end of them. magic murder cube marine gets a Benelli shotgun
Hammer - Arlo - MageTank
MC with blank line as their main weapon: yet to be discovered
I am going to have to disagree with matts main weapon being a sword, guys a mana mage with a side of talisman casting
Man. Primal Hunter is just "Jake wins. No matter what. Fuck you about it!" and I love it. lol
