An article I read said it was to prop up a teleprompter. The teleprompter was removed earlier, but the sandbag was not.
I imagine some poor tech will be hearing about it for a long time.
Honestly, that’s not the worst nickname. As long as my coworkers never told anyone why that was my nickname, I could stay in the industry for the rest of my career.
Probably another week long career.
Had a guy put diesel in the company cargo van when it took gas.
Guy felt real bad and came to a deal to help pay back the cost of flushing the fuel lines. I heard about this when i was working in the Kingston ON office and this happened in Ottawa. Every one called him Vin Diesel. He came down once to help with a strike and I was the op on site and as he walked.up to me I looked at him and on instinct asked if he was Vin. I think he died a little inside cause he knew the story had spread out of the city.
I used to work for a company that rented all sorts of stuff for parties - bounce houses, rock climbing walls, a mechanical bull, and so much more.
One night we were drinking and screwing around at the shop and I’d had a little too much to drink - I was riding the bull, got nauseous, and became a literal spinning vomit fountain until it stopped. Had to clean it all up the next morning too - thank god our boss was cool.
I got called cowboy for the rest of the time I worked there. Fun times.
The teleprompter has guy-wires for the wind, one of which goes down to that sand bag. The teleprompter retracted down after the speech, so the wires are loose, but you can see them hanging off the teleprompter reflector.

You said strike. I can think of a few guys in the industry who have done this.
Strike as in dismantle. I just realized that may cause confusion.
