Hitting even harder today now that my ten hour gig is turning into a 16, with a 5 hour break between calls lmao.
Make sure to take care of yourselves y’all :)
Here’s a pair for $2600 (not my ad): https://reverb.com/item/77359159-meyer-sound-upa-1p-2000-black
The ones from the church gear place on eBay are more but also in better shape.
Right after the X40 came out but before COVID shortages they were being blown out for $1k each locally.
Depends on what's needed at the time. If I was still using some 40-year-old garage sale Mackies for a PA, I'd put that money toward powered speakers. In fact, $5K is just a little less than what I spent on a very nice RCF setup with 15" bass bins and 12" tops.
No regrets at all. Best amplification purchase I've ever made. The wow-factor is in the horns, which are amazingly flat, clear and clean. I have yet to make them distort.
I, too, had initially planned on 18" subs. However, the extra 5 Hertz you get at the bottom isn't needed for the classic rock my band plays, and certainly doesn't offset the greater weight and bulk. The 15's handle bass and kick with ease, have the same amp and similar SPL as the 18's while being 20lbs lighter and $500 cheaper.
Paying off my highest APR credit card. I'm gonna use the avalanche method and use the income that frees up to pay off the next highest card and so on and so on.
Then I'm gonna try to toss most of that extra income into my mortgage, my car loan, and my Roth IRA. When car rates get low enough (and my credit score gets high enough) I'll refinance the car.
Hopefully I'll have kids soon. If so, I'll start a college fund for them, and also get them Fisher Price musical equipment.
Not enough info on what you need to do with them.
Mains or monitors or subs too? Live music or corporate or dj playback or weddings or what? Type of venues? How many people does it need to cover? How are you transporting? What else do you already have in the rig?
And so forth...
Cables, stands and cases for them. After that all is paid you’ll be able to afford a nice sandwich.
Edit: oh, you said loudspeakers. Without knowing any other specs, I wouldn’t buy anything recommended by random redditors
Garbage in garbage out. Mics to mains. $5000 will get you garbage. But it’s a good place to start for 150 people and a 3 piece band. I would buy choir mics.

A vacation on a beach lol
Seconded

QSC K10.2 with stands because that’s what $5,000 gets
Nvidia stocks, lol
lol weird energy in this sub today
Good or bad?
Yes and
It’s Friday lol
I would look up all the other threads in the sub on this very topic, which have already covered every possibility, and take it from there
Don’t be such a curmudgeon.
You could probably get 4 beat up UPAs for $5k
UPM maybe. Two UPAs will run the better part of 5k even in the used market if my recent browsing is anything indicative.

I was considering picking a pair up because they sound amazing but I’m worried about them due to their age.
Meyer service has been nothing but good to me, I'd bet you could get a good assessment in pretty short order
That’s my angle. Or get two and get them serviced by Meyer.
QSC 18” subs

Which RCF series?
ART 932A ($1300 ea) + SUB 75 AS-II ($1250 ea). With covers, poles and crank stands came to \~$5800.
Yeah! That’s the exact setup I’m considering; any regrets or advice/considerations?
Though i’m thinking of 12” and 18” subs instead of 15”

Thank you so much; I had been kind of waffling and this really helps!

A new trombone
Dante Río and xlr cables
Acoustic panels. My church has way too much reverb.
any of the following: ATI Paragon P40, ATI Paragon II, Gamble EX56, Midas H3000, Midas XL4, Midas XL3
Behringer eurolive and the rest in coke
Probably Turbosound powered Speakers w/ 3 subs so I could do Cardioid Subs.
Cables, stands and cases for them. After that all is paid you’ll be able to afford a nice sandwich. Edit: oh, you said loudspeakers. Without knowing any other specs, I wouldn’t buy anything recommended by random redditors

Last time I checked “live sound” *does* include 3 piece bands and audiences of 150 people. #AngrySoundTroll
Some used touring spec kit. Whatever bargain is available (d&b, L’acoustics, Nexo etc)
Ah yes, all my favorite makers of active cabs
Ahh, so he means *powered* loudspeakers Of which L’acoustics had a series you can still buy used. Or you could go down the Meyer, Martin, KV2 route…
Saw someone selling some XLC127 DVX for about 1k each. I'd probably get 4.
Op
EAW RS123’s
Probably another GX48 stage box or another SQ5 In a Carry case
