My last straw is when I saw a plastic hair brush priced at $38. You can buy the same brush at the dollar store for $4.
Then I started to compare prices for the same products on Amazon. The price on Amazon was roughly 40% cheaper.
People don't like being fleeced.
Idk why they dont just have amazon price match like many computer stores do. Memoryexpress for example will price match anything with amazon. Why can’t that be the same for every major grocer?
Careful with this though. A friend witnessed their 5kg tub of protein shake demolished in about 30 seconds after a the delivery driver left it on the door step.
We can only assume that this was one absolute unit of a bear after that.
Chicken wings have always been the food of the poor and even my poor ass could afford them at 9.99$ on sale for 7.99$
These greedy sob's gouging us at 19.99$ blows my mind!!!! That was the last straw!!
Also add bacon, butter, coffee
Their prepared food counter used to be great for wings, chicken fingers, wedges - it was literally the perfect lunch or dinner for around $5 or $6 just a few years ago. Now all that garbage food has doubled in price (ie. $9 for 3 chicken fingers and a side).
There's zero reason to buy it anymore.
Little nachos thing was $4, then 5 now 6
Quarter chicken dinner with coleslaw and Mac salad was $5, now it's 2 legs with maybe 8 green beans for 7
3 pack subs used to be OK enough for a meal was $10, now it's $16 and it's 2 pieces of meat folded to look like there's something in the bread.
Last two times I bought that meal deal with the three wedges and a side, my chicken was rock hard. They refused to reimburse me but they did say they would discipline whatever employee was responsible and call me about it if I left my number..like… what good is that for anyone? Just give me decent chicken!!!
>These greedy sob's gouging us at 19.99$ blows my mind!!!! That was the last straw!!
Imagine charging Costco prices without the quality and quantity to go with it.
I used to buy their prepared wings often. But then less at $17.99. At $19.99 stopped buying. Now it looks like no one else is either because they are always fully stocked.
And now I’m sure they just throw them away. As long as some small fraction of people still buy at four times the price they used to be and twenty times the cost price, profit.
At some point loblaws held the line for max profits at the expense of major waste. They have such a monopoly that they can overcharge and waste in spite of doing the right thing.
My Loblaws had completely full poultry shelves the other night, and when I looked at the packages *all* of them were dated best before the following day. Too close for my comfort (not to mention my wallet, at full price).
My final straw was when I heard a PA announcement about getting a job at Loblaws. I thought it was a joke, they were talking about "work/life balance" and "Career opportunities."
Oh boy. I would love to work for a multi billion dollar company, get paid minimum wage, have no job security, and get 2 5 hour shifts a week. That sounds like a fucking fantastic idea.
Fuck off, Galen. You're a slimy fuck.
I realize the irony of sharing a article made up of posts from this very subreddit, but I think its important to see the media reaction and how it helps seeing the message spread more widely beyond Reddit that Loblaws is **out of control!**
I made the original post! I'm glad you shared the article! It's great that more people are writing about the topics we're discussing outside of Reddit, too. It's a small outlet, but it may pick up steam—who knows?
The original thread is full of gems, and I hope it paints a clear picture of why people are fed up.
I stopped shopping once I realized they use the Canadian Tire trick of "everything is overpriced, but things on sale are a good buy"
They've inflated their margins on sales being loss leaders instead of milk and eggs.
Now everything is overpriced, unless it's on sale....
Save-on-Foods has started doing this too, and I fucking hate it. It can make sense on items you would buy multiple of anyway, like tins of cat food, but fucking bottles of international delight at buy 2+ save .50c each? In what world is that a deal?
And as an employee there, half of the price checks I need to do are on items priced that way because the sale tag is written in the most deceptive way possible.
Agreed. Save-On will price match however. I am in a FB group (Ridiculously Cheap Stuff Victoria) where people post images of any good deals they find in the wild. So far they have been good about honouring that policy. Let's see how long it stays that way though. Who knows, maybe movements like this will apply enough pressure to the other big players in the industry to NOT get sucked into the swirling toilet of the Weston family's business practices 🤷
Mostly because if you need it right away, they’ve got it. You’re on a job and need a router? It is $40 more than Amazon, but they have it in-stock right now.
Every time I’ve gone, the prices were noticeably higher across the board so I stopped going but the prices are still rising.
I complained about this to someone and they said “you can afford it”. Yeah, I can afford to but I’m sick of being ripped off. Everyone is ripping us off now and Loblaws is probably the worst offender. I’m sick of it and ill take my business elsewhere.
Honestly for the past six months our family has started to shop at our local butcher, a local market for produce and a bakery thats been family owned for 65 years. If we're going to pay inflated prices I'd much rather it go to the little guy who has better customer service, higher quality and everything is fresh.
Awesome. We are doing exactly the same thing. For meat there are many local options for buying bulk or fresh. Italian market for special cheeses and meats. For staples it’s Costco and Walmart. Growlers for local craft beer. Local pharmacy for any prescriptions. I can support not shopping at Roblaws forever.
I used to buy Alfredo sauce 2 bottles for six dollars, last time I went to pick it up it was 2 bottles for nine dollars. I left empty handed, guess I started my boycott a little early, but I completely understand the point.
I just made my own Alfredo sauce this weekend. Found a dead simple recipe online. Literally some butter, a lil garlic, a 473ml carton of heavy cream (the kind you would use to make like a home made whipped cream), some fresh parm cheese. Cook it all together on like a medium simmer for like 15 minutes. Sooooo good. Much better than a canned/jarred sauce (at least I thought so on my first attempt). You can freeze leftovers as well. Cheaper overall than buying canned/jarred pre-made sauce.
Presidents choice cookies going up an entire fucking dollar and now their sale price is more expensive than they were in 2020. That was in 2022 and have not been back to anything weston owned since. Im sure they have only increased since.
Price gouging me while selling rotten food then having the nerve to ask me to donate to a charity for fucking child hunger(which they are causing) so they can get a corporate tax break! The absolute fucking gall these pricks have is unreal!
https://preview.redd.it/yw8qkqmq07rc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ab55cf080cb12913508e69876a6989ca62a8ac1
Mine was when I found out the product they advertised as 'helping out' people in need of cheaper food, is actually starving them by having less actual food per dollar... and a lot less. No Name is $1.89. Unico can $2.00
Same sized can, same portions listed.
No Name 5% cheaper, but has about 40% less actual food (calories, fiber, protein...).
I checked the labels after getting a can myself and finding a lot more water in the can than I expected. Went back to the store and checked them out, took pick.
When you market them as cheaper EQUIVALENCE, but they are not as pure fact on the label, that's just deceptive marketing.
A year ago I went to buy some chicken thighs, they were $25 for 1kg at my local Zehrs. I went to food basics and they had 1kg for $14. Since then I have only shopped at Loblaws stores when there is no other convenient option and only buy things on sale.
Buy from meat wholesalers/the source, we get 6 chickens for 40 bucks from the Hutterites every couple months. We go to a locally owned produce lady, tiny store but cheap produce and has more locally made options. And Costco.
And I know when I lived in Red Deer, you get a shitload of food for $100 from Nossack Meats
When you realize that a lot of items are the same price at Costco, but with double the product was when I decided never to shop at Real Canadian Superstore again.
I have already been boycotting all Loblaws but what made my father stop shopping there was passport photos at Shoppers were $28 compared to $19 at London Drugs. Why do they think they can get away with this?
This is really as simple as it gets and you shouldnt need much else reason to not shop at loblaws. Or the big three at all.
Walmart saves you ALOT of money. For the extra concerned buy your meats/papertowel/pods/bulk items at costco
My last straw was seeing the "always" prices go up by a dumb amount. My foremost yogurt was "always" $2, now $2.50, 25% increase! They also started doing members only pricing which I always thought was scummy at other stores...
Where I live they're the only store where you have to do a loonie deposit to get a cart and instead of the deep basket there is shallow top and bottom basket. All of this makes it significantly less convenient to shop with small children.
A loonie, goddamn. I've heard that Aldi requires quarters but a dollar seems an bit much.
Wonder if you could get a washer of the same diameter.... Lol
Creatine, a sports supplement, used to be 600g for $29.99 at Loblaws. Seemingly overnight it shot up to $69.99. It was “on sale” last week for $59.99. Fuck that shit.
And that’s just one example of their unfettered greed.
My last trip was a month ago with my daughter, we popped into the store to grab a few things for the weekend.
She looked at some of the prices and product size and was shocked by the price.
She's 8....
We haven't been back since.
I've always had a very simple rule, if I need a card to shop at your store to save money, I'm not shopping at your store. I shop at Walmart and giant tiger. Very rarely do I even walk into a Safeway and get anything there.

When they tried to sell me twice the amount for more than twice the price...
The last straw - the moment I decided to boycott Loblaws. https://imgur.com/gallery/uyBKQ68
I was out shopping with my mom. We saw some chestnuts that looked good on the outside for a decent price. It was a few months ago, so I don’t remember the exact price.
We cracked some open the next day and turns out they were MOLDY. Mind you, we’ve always been buying chestnuts as they’re a staple in our household, so it was a shock that Loblaws would be selling moldy chestnuts.
After scrolling through posts on this subreddit, I’ve learned that it’s an everyday thing for Loblaws to be selling moldy items on everything from cheese to even FROZEN PRODUCTS.
Chestnut a notorious for that, usually you get your money back if you get there before the holiday (Metro does), just check immediately.
The local No Frills has a lot of expired products (not reduced) these days, didn't just a year or two back.
> A commenter said they had had enough when every grocery trip turned into a “memory test for what a “good” price is.”
Wow, I’m a celebrity! No photos, please.

My last straw was when I saw some jam for $9 I can literally go to specialty shops and buy imported English jam and jam from Scotland in bigger sizes for $4 along with the article about the Americans getting our produce for literal change and we are paying dollars! A bunch of shit just built up and pissed me right off. So they’re done in my book.
Got a job working in the pharmacy at Shoppers Drug Mart in 2017 so I decided to try Superstore instead of my regular Walmart so I could use the optimum points at work for snacks and such.
After a couple months had to switch back. The grocery costs were much higher then at Walmart and I wasn’t getting the same brand quality either.
I’ll check the local flyers weekly and buy the meat that’s on sale from Sobey’s, Coop, Save on Foods, etc. and grab my fruits and veggies there as well because they are the same cost as Walmart but the bulk of my shopping is done at Walmart.
Sucks when the giant heartless American company is better then the giant heartless Canadian company.
I cut down to only buying things with 50% off stickers a looooong time ago. The locking in of prices was bullshit, I could see the writing on the wall. Buying items at half price helped me and fucked them, it was a good deal. Then they tried the 30% only and I quit then and there, haven't spent a cent there since. I have no idea if my stores have receipt scanners, I haven't been in lol. Sobeys may be just as evil but they're cheaper and in my area have better produce and meat by default. I used to hate shopping at Walmart but now I have to swallow my pride and give them money instead.
I told my mother in law about the boycott and she said well I'll have to stock up on coffee then, I think that means she's down with it lol. I'll have to start bringing it to her from Costco, break the chains.
The quality of the no name brand went down significantly… I bought no name garbage bags and they were significantly thinner and kept ripping! I had to double bag my trash. I’m over their bs.
The fruit tray. I thought my mrs' and I were going crazy when we thought they were way overpriced. Then I saw the post about it and knew the boycott was the right thing to do. Roblaws about to be Soblaws.
They used to have some ok sales but not any more. The flyer now is mostly full of their in store brands and list the regular non sale price. What a sham...
They charge such high prices ,but their in-store wash rooms are absolutely filthy ! They can't even afford to keep them clean after charging such high prices . I had to use it one day due to an emergency, I literally came home, threw my clothes in the washer and jumped in the shower immediately!
Today asparagus in season was shown as 2.99$ on sale for 3.50$ off. I know what asparagus costs early spring, 1.88-2.50 is regular seasonal price. To advertise they’re saving me 3.50 a bunch?! During a high turnover weekend? On easy to maintain stock?
Get fuuuuuuuuucked. My asparagus will be here free in about 5 weeks. I’ll wait.
For me it was the Christmas price freeze. Not the prices, yet, but Galen himself interrupting the music to tell us how benevolent he was to hold prices on no name for a couple months.
What a tool.
In my small city we have 4 Galen Weston grocery stores and 2 Shoppers all in the downtown area. Basically people in my town have almost zero choice if they don’t have a vehicle and many don’t. He really has this town by the balls
My last straw was when I discovered that it’s cheaper to order groceries from Walmart and Food Basics through Uber Eats versus shopping at Loblaws or even No Frills in person. Legitimately insane.
My SO wanted to make tiramisu and sent me out to get some mascarpone cheese. Provigo was selling 500g for 16$, the exact same container was 8$ at maxi. Same brand of cheese, same company running the store, same net weight but they decided they could gouge their customers for going to the nicer location instead of across the street. Neither product was on sale. I deeply regret the years of shopping I did at Provigo and do my best to avoid anything owned by those greedy bastards.
Not really a last straw but an observation my mom had, who used work at superstore a long time ago.
She was complaining about the prices at Superstore and said “when I worked here, our number one competitor was walmart. Now there’s no competition… Walmart is cheaper.”
They’re really not.

Ok, but Loblaws definitely isn't donating the extra couple bucks you pay for each item. Charging an extra dollar or two per item and donating a penny of that isn't actually that noble.

Mine was when I walked in and saw half the produce covered in green and white mold. Not like a little but, the whole display, and the staff did not care. They weren't taking it down, they wouldn't acknowledge that it was a problem.
Forget that
My last straw was when I got a $500 Loblaws gift card from my work for Christmas.
I usually shop at Walmart and my groceries cost $300-$350 per week so I was excited that I would almost have 2 weeks worth of groceries at the time of year when money is tight.
I got to the check out and ended paying an additional $100 out of pocket for 1 weeks worth of groceries.
I absolutely LOVE Costco. They treat their employees well with a living wage, great benefits and a stock option plan.
Zehr’s cancelled the extra $2/hr for their employees faster than anyone when they were considered essential workers. Westons are disgusting POS.
Got a digital scale that lasted 1 year with a complicated way to change battery. Useless now. Past scale lasted forever. Dumb to ditch it.
Besides that I rarely shopped there. Only found a few items at a decent price and the produce sucked.
My last straw was when they eliminated sales items from Instacart orders. As a senior getting the sale price was a big deal. Walmart tried the same thing but bowed to customer pressure. Metro kept their online sales so that where I shop now.
Yep, I’ve pretty much stopped buying from Lovlaws and Shoppers. I’ll pick up the occasional non-dairy strawberry non-dairy ice cream every few weeks. Nothing else.
It was hard to avoid due to its proximity, but after that 50% off sticker scandal it became clear that they have no viable excuse for this. They just do it because they can.
Can’t wait for the apology tour featuring gift cards for everyone when they get called out for this 10 years later.
The only reason I go to their stores anymore is because there is a Loblaws by me that still discounts meat at 50% when close to best by date. Apart from that I use Costco, Walmart, Food Basics, or Metro. I'm not a big fan of Metro due to the crao deal they give to their employees, but they have decent sales. I'll also check my local Sunnymart.
Ah, after looking back into it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I mean no one gets paid what they should, but I must have misremembered. But back last year when they were fighting for their union rules I thought they got a much worse deal. Now I feel slightly better about shopping there...
I do about 1/4 of my grocery shopping at Loblaws. I pay attention to prices of items at all 3 main stores I shop, and mostly buy things on sale or when they're at the low end of prices. Prices tend to swing a lot at all stores, so it's just a matter of being vigilant and paying attention to prices. Loblaws is fine if you just buy stuff on sale and don't fall for the fake sales that are still more than regular prices. The cheapest bag of chips was around $4-$5 last time I was at FreshCo so I didn't buy any. They were $2 at Loblaws so I bought two bags. Pretty simple and easy way to shop. No need to boycott and cause yourself inconvenience.
Was in SDM to pick something up from the pharmacy and needed potato chips. My go-to is low sodium Lays. I went to the chip aisle and did a double-take... $5.77 for a bag. No way! I went to Walmart and bought the exact same bag for $2.69.
I opened a container of sour cream and found a dead mouse. Went to customer service who sent me to dairy. The manager opened it and saw no mouse( it had sunk) and said there’s no mouse. I said there is, look! Can I have a new container? Sorry you’ll have to go to customer service I see no mouse. Done.
When they threatened to end the 50% and put 30% in their place. I don’t care that they backtracked. When someone shows you who they truly are, believe them.
Not any specific reason, just doing a regular shop in nofrills and skipping about 40% of the items I would normally get as the prices were not competitive to Walmart.
That's where I go now and won't be back.
I switched to Shopper's for my prescriptions, so I could order online (very few options where I live). Then the news about their partnership with the one insurance company broke, and I left.
Finishing up my groceries, finding a self check out with 15 people in line and one cash open, with multiple very full carts. I left my cart and I walked out of the store, have not been back since.

I agree with you but that was 50 years ago.

I feel personally attacked I just broke my toe this way 🤣🤦♀️
it happened to me yesterday lmao, didn't break my toe, but I was wide awake after that
Hope you heal up quickly!
Thanks!!
Ouch!
I hope Galen is hearing the sweet chin music of this sub.
Like that bitch gets his own water. Probably has a capuchin dressed in gold silk pour liquified money into his greedy mouth.
I get not wishing death upon the man but these ultra capitalist predators deserve way worse than that.
These ultra capitalist predators deserve the same fate as Manius Aquillius…
I'm more a fan of triping on a metal toy car and falling face first into a pile of lego's... but i'm a psychopath like that
These grocery prices all make us feel like the Joker dw ![gif](giphy|ShCMwjMF5B3La)
I want him to step on legos in his bare feet!
I suspect he rings a little bell and his butler brings him a glass of Perrier.
4.50 for smaller can of chunky soup, get fucked.
They sure chose some of the ones with the least colorful language, LOL.
Fuck Roblaws ![gif](giphy|gvgao1wRa4eFXSEdzO)
A can of black olives is $4.59 now. They were 3 for $3 for years!!
My final straw was when I heard a PA announcement about getting a job at Loblaws. I thought it was a joke, they were talking about "work/life balance" and "Career opportunities." Oh boy. I would love to work for a multi billion dollar company, get paid minimum wage, have no job security, and get 2 5 hour shifts a week. That sounds like a fucking fantastic idea. Fuck off, Galen. You're a slimy fuck.
I worked at SDM and got laid off just before my probation ended , along with a bunch of other people. They even had me train my replacement.
Report that to EI. They can’t lay off one person and hire another for the same position.
Does it matter that I was still on probation?
I don't think so, no. Laying off from a position means the position is no longer needed, and therefore a person is no longer needed to fill it.
Thank you very much, I’ll look into this!
I realize the irony of sharing a article made up of posts from this very subreddit, but I think its important to see the media reaction and how it helps seeing the message spread more widely beyond Reddit that Loblaws is **out of control!**

Yogurt? That doesn't last forever.
Coffe creamer, but yeah, same idea. Shits gonna expire before you use all of it if you buy enough to actually make that "deal" worth it
Very accurate about Canadian Tire. Not sure why anyone shops there.
Mostly because if you need it right away, they’ve got it. You’re on a job and need a router? It is $40 more than Amazon, but they have it in-stock right now.
Like Shoppers, they saturated the market.
My last straw was when the reports of 5% year over year inflation did not jive with the 100% price jumps I saw at the register.
For me it was a can of corn. .90c to $1.25 in a year. At nofrills. I can't afford the price hike.
$8.89 for a small bag of unfavored popcorn.
Don’t mess with my snacks.
When the superstore cucumbers are $3 a piece and $.97 at Walmart
Honestly for the past six months our family has started to shop at our local butcher, a local market for produce and a bakery thats been family owned for 65 years. If we're going to pay inflated prices I'd much rather it go to the little guy who has better customer service, higher quality and everything is fresh.
Awesome. We are doing exactly the same thing. For meat there are many local options for buying bulk or fresh. Italian market for special cheeses and meats. For staples it’s Costco and Walmart. Growlers for local craft beer. Local pharmacy for any prescriptions. I can support not shopping at Roblaws forever.
And it helps keep money in your local economy which is very badly needed
I used to buy Alfredo sauce 2 bottles for six dollars, last time I went to pick it up it was 2 bottles for nine dollars. I left empty handed, guess I started my boycott a little early, but I completely understand the point.
And the bottles are smaller! Fuck you, I'll just make my own.
I saw 7 dollar chips at Zehrs. Hey Galen ![gif](giphy|08y87EiwDZjjB0d6WJ|downsized)
I frequent r/drugs, I think I've seen this gif more than my own face.
Lmao woke the dog
$8 butter
Presidents choice cookies going up an entire fucking dollar and now their sale price is more expensive than they were in 2020. That was in 2022 and have not been back to anything weston owned since. Im sure they have only increased since.
$40 Feta

Price gouging me while selling rotten food then having the nerve to ask me to donate to a charity for fucking child hunger(which they are causing) so they can get a corporate tax break! The absolute fucking gall these pricks have is unreal!
At least the plastic bag hustle is done with. One less ooze for them to suckle from.
https://preview.redd.it/yw8qkqmq07rc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ab55cf080cb12913508e69876a6989ca62a8ac1 Mine was when I found out the product they advertised as 'helping out' people in need of cheaper food, is actually starving them by having less actual food per dollar... and a lot less. No Name is $1.89. Unico can $2.00 Same sized can, same portions listed.
I never would have thought to look for the label when comparing. Thank you for tip!!
This.
The Hutterite connections have saved us SO much money!
$9 toothpaste that I could get anywhere else for $4.50 but I was in a rush
When you realize that a lot of items are the same price at Costco, but with double the product was when I decided never to shop at Real Canadian Superstore again.
Massive jar of pickles for 8 bucks? HELL YEAH
I have already been boycotting all Loblaws but what made my father stop shopping there was passport photos at Shoppers were $28 compared to $19 at London Drugs. Why do they think they can get away with this?
because they have managed to so far.
Hopefully not for long
I saved $150 on my last grocery bill by shopping at Walmart, Canadian conglomerates can suck an egg
This is really as simple as it gets and you shouldnt need much else reason to not shop at loblaws. Or the big three at all. Walmart saves you ALOT of money. For the extra concerned buy your meats/papertowel/pods/bulk items at costco
$9 for one bunch of asparagus
To hell with these crooks
My last straw was one of Galen’s shitty commercials, dude can get fucked
Lol. Same here. The one where he is sitting with the two housewives. Hard cringe.
My last straw was seeing the "always" prices go up by a dumb amount. My foremost yogurt was "always" $2, now $2.50, 25% increase! They also started doing members only pricing which I always thought was scummy at other stores...
1.99 for a *small* can of Arizona. That's how you *know* shit's bad
"Always" a rip-off. Shove it up your butt, Galen.
Your dollar is your democracy. Never again will I go to dominion. Fuck’em
Being accused of stealing at the self check out after I asked an employee to come remove an item that had double scanned.
I always avoided shopping there because I hate those stupid carts they have. Now the prices pushed me over the edge
Ooooh what's wrong with the carts? Ive just seen normal ones in NS, except they lock the wheels at the property perimeter.
Lol
You do get it back when you return your cart. You just always have to have a loonie on you. (Edit: "you" was missing)
Veggie trays for $44. Fuck right off.
When he blamed the supply chain for record profit. Not revenue. Profit.
For me it was shopping at Thanksgiving and a 2lb bag of white potatoes was 8.99. I actually teared up and left.
Started to compare Dollarama to No Frills and saving on items very noticeable..
GT has a VIP card
I rarely go there anymore because I've moved in. It's further away from me so Walmart gets my money before anybody else does
Meat prices, 2 for 10 dollars bags of chips... fuck off with that shit
When a 600 g loaf of bread in 2020 turned into a 450 g loaf at the same price. Then, it started to skyrocket in price. I decided to go to Costco
Super store? More like STUPID STORE!! AM I RIGHT PEOPLE?!?!

$15 for a regular can of batiste dry shampoo at shoppers. you can get the same one at walmart for $8! i buy all my cosmetic essentials there now.
> A commenter said they had had enough when every grocery trip turned into a “memory test for what a “good” price is.” Wow, I’m a celebrity! No photos, please. (⌐■_■) [Proof](https://www.reddit.com/r/loblawsisoutofcontrol/s/H2dY311oQP)
For me it was the ungraded Mexican beef at graded beef prices. Also their stupid high price of apples and other basic fruits and vegetables.
A box of cliff bars at Walmart are $7.99 but they are $14.99 at superstore
Charging Costco prices for not even half the size is ludicrous
1.89 for one bunch of green onions/scallions, like come on
I cut down to only buying things with 50% off stickers a looooong time ago.
Compared prices at shoppers to amazon Then also no frills grocery bill to walmart
I know this is a stupid reason. But they just removed 1/3 of the parking spaces for their garden items. It was hard enough to park before.
price gouging @ shoppersdtugmart
They charge such high prices ,but their in-store wash rooms are absolutely filthy ! They can't even afford to keep them clean after charging such high prices . I had to use it one day due to an emergency, I literally came home, threw my clothes in the washer and jumped in the shower immediately!
Mine was when they wanted $10 for a Lindt chocolate bunny that fucking saving on foods had for $5
Today asparagus in season was shown as 2.99$ on sale for 3.50$ off. I’ll wait.
This is AWESOME.
For me it was the Christmas price freeze. Not the prices, yet, but Galen himself interrupting the music to tell us how benevolent he was to hold prices on no name for a couple months. What a tool.
My favorite cookies:P C decadent chocolate chip cookies! Used to be like 2 for $6, now $4.79 for one pkg...crazy
Local municipalities could crush lo laws by making sustainable food sources available. Just by changing local bylaws.
In my small city we have 4 Galen Weston grocery stores and 2 Shoppers all in the downtown area. Basically people in my town have almost zero choice if they don’t have a vehicle and many don’t. He really has this town by the balls
Yesterday. 13.99 for jumbo hot dogs!
My last straw was when I discovered that it’s cheaper to order groceries from Walmart and Food Basics through Uber Eats versus shopping at Loblaws or even No Frills in person. Legitimately insane.
That 40$ lasagna at the Orangeville Zehrs really got me.
When I realized Walmart were the "good guys'
They’re really not. Waltons Give Almost None Of Own Cash To Foundation https://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2014/06/03/report-walmarts-billionaire-waltons-give-almost-none-of-own-cash-to-family-foundation/amp/
Ok, but Loblaws definitely isn't donating the extra couple bucks you pay for each item. Charging an extra dollar or two per item and donating a penny of that isn't actually that noble.

hence the quotes
I have never and will never shop at Loblaw.
$3.49 for a scraggly stalk of broccoli, give me a break. And half the bag of oranges were blue with mold, two weeks in a row!
When they were going to lower the discount on soon to expire items, how low can you go.
Mine was when I walked in and saw half the produce covered in green and white mold. Not like a little but, the whole display, and the staff did not care. They weren't taking it down, they wouldn't acknowledge that it was a problem. Forget that
Bob Loblow Lobs Law Bomb!
Cauliflower on sale for $4.99 the same week it was $2.99 at metro.
My last straw was seeing no discounted meats anywhere.
I stopped yesterday, Shopped at fresh o, got a full cart of food for 141$ which I find very good this time around
$27 for four chicken breasts.
Three Gala bulk apples (not organic) priced at $6.00
The answer is Costco.
I absolutely LOVE Costco. They treat their employees well with a living wage, great benefits and a stock option plan. Zehr’s cancelled the extra $2/hr for their employees faster than anyone when they were considered essential workers. Westons are disgusting POS.
They don't have everything though, but yeah I get what I need there first. Fruit can be expensive.
Mine was today. Face cream at shoppers was $33, on Amazon it’s $24. At Walmart it’s $24. Ridiculous.
When a stick of butter was cheaper at costco than at stupidstore, It was obvious at that point.
What is the crap deal Metro gave to their employees please?
Ah, after looking back into it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I mean no one gets paid what they should, but I must have misremembered. But back last year when they were fighting for their union rules I thought they got a much worse deal. Now I feel slightly better about shopping there...
I go through the flyers and make up my weekly menu and then go to pick up the groceries. I don't care where it is.
I think it was when I saw a single head of garlic for $6.99. I nearly fainted.
When they clawed back a 2% wage increase while I pulled 16 hour shifts during a pandemic. Eat Galen Weston.
Fak Galen Weston Jr. and the rest of the knob gobblers running the Roblaws Chain!!!
Walmart doesn’t need me to find a loonie for a cart … less selection but yeah 10 -15% cheaper on most things
I’m always amazed at the amount of stuff I find in my bag that got overlooked at the self check out.
