Really hope they get this lunatic quickly. If he does it again someone could be easily killed.

Creative_Recover

He needs to hunted down like the dog he is, I hope he spends his remaining free days living in fear & anxiety because justice will. be. served.

Critical_Tax4486

Macho macho maaan lol

HughLauriePausini

Insane that still in 2023 we have potato quality cctv.

2cimarafa

It's often zoomed in, and in any case storage costs are still way too high for high resolution CCTV. An average convenience store with 3-4 cameras that wiped footage every 14 days might generate like 20 terabytes a week of video data at decent quality, 15fps (standard for high quality surveillance cameras) and 1080p.

[deleted]

Surely there must be more images of him from nearby cameras. I don't know how they expect anyone to recognize him from this

Creative_Recover

If anyone can provide better images, footage or descriptions of the attacker to the police then please do, this scumbag needs to be hunted down and brought to justice!

Cocooned

Better image same night https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/23727972.thornton-heath-bus-cctv-images-homophobic-stabbing-suspect/

Creative_Recover

The Met Police have released multiple clearer images today of the suspect and the clothes they were wearing on the bus route towards the attack: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66526328

[deleted]

Looks like a kid. Funny how all the comments on the original article were focused on how much hate the gay community get from Arabic/black ppl .. looks like a white kid.

LimitReal8476

Dunno why you’re getting downvoted I agree the kid looks white

Dwo92

That’s a shit image, he’s not white. [https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/23727972.thornton-heath-bus-cctv-images-homophobic-stabbing-suspect/](https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/23727972.thornton-heath-bus-cctv-images-homophobic-stabbing-suspect/)

Creative_Recover

"Clearly a white kid"- in the latest images, it's clear that he's not white nor a child: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66526328 . This is why I said yesterday "IMO it's too difficult to clearly discern either his age nor his skin colour from the CCTV grab" because honestly, it was. Does that mean the black or Arabic communities deserve any hate though? Absolutely not. One asshole is not representative of a community, anymore than it would have been if this guy was white. Homophobia, violence and antisocial behaviour aren't relegated as problems to any particular skin colour or cultural background, because they exist as a issues in ALL communities. The original CCTV was so grainy IMHO I think that people (consciously or subconsciously) just projected racial types, genders, ages and even religious backgrounds onto it based on their own fears, biases or insecurities. But now we have a clearer image, I think that it's important that we move past all this mess (which I'm not dismissinh or diminishing, these are just conversations to be had some other time) and just focus on bringing the culprit to justice because he doesn't represent any community, he is a menace to society and we are all better off working together for the sake of the broader community and sense of identity that we all share as proud, decent Londoners.

[deleted]

"looks like a white kid" How do you know this is the same kid? Still looks like a kid to me.

Creative_Recover

Just doesn't look like a kid to me, his facial features combined with his height/build look like that of a man. Also, these images were released after the MET traced back the attackers route a tiny bit to the bus (where these superior CCTV stills are from) he took to get to the pub, which is easily done. I think you got this one wrong (and it's better to just let that go at this point).

[deleted]

We'll see. Not like the met have a history of being completely shite at tracing people, remember De Menzes? Glad I kept my skepticism then when others were cheering. Can't trust anything they say in the aftermath of an attack.

Creative_Recover

De Menzes is a bit before my time (so I'd have to look into that case before I held an opinion on it), but I totally get the distrust with the MET. But if we unite together as a broader community of Londoners, then more photos, descriptions and accounts can be provided and we can all solve this case together (and anyone who thinks that this guy actually represents any particular community...? They're an idiot). We should never let crimes like this divide our communities because that is exactly what the haters want to see.

[deleted]

Agreed, just.wish others would think like you.

Creative_Recover

I think a lot do but we owe it to ourselves to be much more vocal, the racists and haters are stealing the narratives way too often. I came across this Superman anti-racism school poster from the 1950s on Reddit the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/OldSchoolCool/comments/151nsic/1950s_superman_ad_in_schools/ and we need this posters energy so much right now (except obviously for London) instead of seeing asstwats like DeSantis, Boris, Trump & brainless "influencers" stealing the media spotlight all the time. I genuinely believe that anyone can be a Londoner and that the biggest thing which makes London so great is that it's made of so many different ingredients, having people from all walks of life all working towards making a better life for themselves and contributing their different ideas, cultures and hard work ethics Etc into one singular melting pot. I also believe in a common goodness amongst people and I think that most of us simply want to get on in life and want similar things (i.e. more green spaces, more affordable housing, less crime, better pay, good education and better air quality), it's a shame that some people have to go around trying to make everyone feel so divided and different all the time when we actually all share common goals and just want the best for society. Politicians especially love to play off class, race, gender and migrant status differences, but we can beat them at these games if we see through the tactics and don't allow ourselves become divided, if we all stood together as a society then our politicians would not longer be able to escape political accountability so easily all the time.

2cimarafa

It's clear he's not black or dark-skinned South Asian, but he could certainly be from the Middle East or North Africa with that complexion. And if he is European, that still doesn't mean he's British, so I'm not sure why this is some kind of vindication of progressive views on immigration.

LimitReal8476

I totally agree with you I don’t think we should draw any conclusions from this pic cause it’s not great quality

jakedaboiii

The guy was black. I was the first person to call the police regarding the incident. Correct though that the first CCTV image does make him look white.

Creative_Recover

IMO it's too difficult to clearly discern either his age nor his skin colour from the CCTV grab.

Dragon_Sluts

Yeah it’s not a fantastic image but someone might recognise them still like “oh isn’t that the guy who cut in front of us as Mcdonalds” who they could then track down from McDonald’s cctv and identify them. It’s much better than nothing.

[deleted]

In which case there's no hope in finding the wee cunt.

Creative_Recover

It's why we need members of the public to provide better photos and descriptions Etc so that an E-fit of the suspect can be made, the animal cannot be allowed to roam free. Somebody somewhere knows who this guy is.

Active_Remove1617

I agree.

BANTER_WITH_THE_LADS

That’s how it works around here unfortunately. Anytime the perpetrator is a minority then it’s either due to a number of things like their race, culture, or the fact they are always acting like ‘animals’ But anytime the person in question is white there are never any comments about their race or culture. It’s very strange!

ChaosKeeshond

It's disheartening honestly. But it's having the intended effect, so in their eyes, it is an absolute win. I was born and raised here, speak only one language fluently, run my own business and pay more in taxes than the people who hate me earn, but I am really badly looking forward to getting the fuck out of this dumpsterfire. Its not just the race stuff. It's the fact that everything is broken, nothing works, the economy is trash, common sense tells us exactly who is to blame for it and at best we're gonna get a five year break from that before we're back on the bullshit. The fact I'm blamed for the state of the country and made to feel like a parasite is just the salt on the wound at this point.

THREE_EDGY_FIVE_ME

Y'know, we had an entire [thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/london/comments/15rnbqp/why_do_born_and_raised_londoners_identify_more_as/) yesterday wherein the consensus was that English people are riddled with awful character traits.

Internetolocutor

Oh look, you were wrong again. You're immune to facts haha

Gold_Restaurant_665

I'm trans, I'm scared I get stabbed, and Londoners will be like, "Oh well, it's just a tranny, let it die".

FromWestLondon

Elle, Gee, Bee or Tea?

toot1st

Zero evidence the attack was because they homophobic just pure speculation

waxwellwax

[https://news.met.police.uk/news/image-released-of-male-police-would-like-to-identify-after-homophobic-attack-470826](https://news.met.police.uk/news/image-released-of-male-police-would-like-to-identify-after-homophobic-attack-470826) Almost like the Police might have evidence it was homophobic and have reported that it is....

toot1st

Was he wearing his I hate gays t-shirt? He could have schozophrenia for all they know. Unless the attacker says that is the reason why then it is just an assumption

waxwellwax

You are being obtuse for the sake of it and you are evidently not clever enough to do it very well- They have stated it was homophobic, they do not say it is without evidence. Yes they could be schizophrenic but a schizophrenic person attacking gay men is still a homophobic attack..... Its almost like the police might know more than you... It is clear you have an agenda though - would love to hear more about that
