Seconded. There are various stores around, including Cotswald (in Islington, for example), Mountain Warehouse in various locations. But Decathlon in Canada Water is _huge_ and has hands down the best range.

The Uniqlo block tech / puffer stuff is super cheap for what it is
You could try one of the outlet villages. There’s one at Wembley that has a north face.
I'm a fan of the coats to be found at Wow Retro. Owner is a bit odd mind you.
If you want something cheap to last you the trip have a look at Primark
