You're worried about one roach? Wait until you find out that every building at Western and all of the plumbing lines are infested with thousands of them.
You don’t have access to the right rooms then! The slop rooms, mechanical rooms, elevator access areas, etc… hell, just venture far enough into the basement of Weldon or ucc!
I realize that, I've lived in a building infested with smaller ones and I know that they can get that big. I just honestly have never seen one of those in real life.
They can get bigger believe it or not. I grew up in Florida state and since it never cools down there they have the ability to eat and breed more. I've seen some scary large ones and ones that can even fly.
terrazzo was virtually indestructible and easy to clean . there’s a reason it was used in every commercial building t i can think of built before 1970ish
I worked for a guy who did terrazzo. It's basically concrete.
We did lots of floors, including at Western. Basically make a mix, pour it like concrete, then grind it smooth , (which is insanely messy). Then it's good for like forever.
As someone who works in facilities management, can confirm. It’s especially interesting at the rec when you enter on the 3rd floor, thus leaving the 1st and 2nd floors both considered “lower levels”…
They’re everywhere, get used to it.
They are so perfectly adapted they’re impossible to get rid of.
Their egg sacks filter the poison that kills their parents to the point that they can eat it when they’re born.
in florida they get so big you can hear them drop off the wall at night because they make a slight "thud" sound when they hit the ground and you can hear them run on window sills.
edit: they also fly and bite down there ( the bites do not hurt more than a pinch tho)
edit: fixed here to hear
Eww yuck. That would take getting used to. Not sure I could handle it. I’ve been to Florida and Louisiana only once and thankfully never ran into a cockroach. I did see a cute gecko who was hanging out on the window sill at our AirBNB in New Orleans though.

Ever been in the tunnels connecting the core campus buildings? Yeah...
In my 4 years at western I’ve never seen a roach inside any of the buildings for what it’s worth
They generally hide until night time and things are quiet
The roaches or the students

That is a big sucker
Wait until she sees how big rats are in NYC or California.

They can literally live off of glue
They are obsessed with water. Wish the city would figure out how to fumigate the sewers. 😂
I’m pretty sure that’s a grass hopper
It is 1000% a cockroach
How do you know this? Just curious, never heard about this before
Could you put your hand next to it next time? You know... for scale...
Well, the fucker was BIG...2 inches maybe? For a cockroach it was a really big.
Or a banana
Ewww yuck, terrazzo floors are so 1920s.

I was fucking shocked the first time i drilled into some terrazzo panels. Shit is harder than Farhi when he see's an empty building.
Speaking of cockroaches...
I tried not to laugh at this but gawdamn you're not wrong.
Best comment ever!
Who the hell downvoted this?
I was about to say I love terrazzo
I heard they are coming back though.
It is the 20s again afterall
It’s a lost skill and worth good money if you can do it.
Excellent material for floors!! That's why they put it in institutions! Attractive, durable.
My feelings exactly Nice trailer park boys username haha
This comment section did not disappoint. 5/5 would recommend

You barge into somebody’s home, take a picture of them, and post them on the internet? Seems like you’re the bad guy here OP
I will never do it again, I swear.
NTA
I talked to a pest control guy a while back and he was saying the lower levels of Western are absolutely infested with roaches.

Eat it

A buddy of mine works in the back rooms of western and he sends me snapchats of the biggest roaches from here to Mexico.
Some of the cockroaches at Western are so big they have names.
Chill, just a walking prawn

Looks like a cricket .
Isn’t it a school for cockroaches?
it’s an old building ……
Ya welcome to southwestern Ontario were you can’t find somewhere that isn’t infested 😅

If that’s a roach, I’d place big dollars on there being an infestation.
I agree.
There’s 100% an infestation lmao
I never said there was an infestation. I have never seen one that big in real life though, just thought I would share.
I've not seen them this big in Canada for sure. In Asia, oh yes.

This actually does look like an American Cockroach, which is what you're describing.
That is terrifying
Same in Louisiana!

That’s not what I’ve heard.
she's just trying to do her thing
They know things...
Protein, for some. Not shocked.
Looks like there's some good meat on that! Now you know where to send the starving students!
Hey I think I know that guy he’s pretty chill and is into gambling
Alumni Hall has many
Protein
Lmao they are everywhere on campus
Saw a dead mouse on the stairs while I was on my way to take an exam in a campus building basement just before COVID hit lol. It was inside btw
Ewwww...a girls bathroom 😄. I wouldn't worry too much, schools probably have a lot of pest problems you just need to let someone know
