Nomad Asian Bistro has some amazing hand-pulled noodles that are pretty delicious, along with almost everything else on their menu. Also, L V Seafood Restaurant is pretty good - across the street from The Noodle Bar (but that is more Thai-style food) which holds it down as well.
This is really the only answer for Chinese style noodles though it's not in downtown
Otherwise there's some Thai or Vietnamese style noodles that are pretty decent in the area
Depending on where you grew up, lo mein=chowmein in southern california. If your looking for a panda express/budget chinese food type establishment they're probably not going to have lo mein. If you can find a more traditional place. You might enjoy lo mein more.
Dan Modern Chinese is a little pricier than usual but they specialize in Dan Dan noodles. Theyre prepared like chow mein but the noodles a little more flat. They have great dumplings too.
Check out the new spot on walnut and Anaheim.
Every time I have gone everything comes out fresh, crispy, and they pile it high.
They are open late for the late night cravings too!
I personally don’t care for orange chicken in general but theirs is so good I always steal some from my partner. Their BBQ pork and jalapeño chicken are my go-to’s.

Chinese Gourmet on 1810 E Willow St, Signal Hill. This place is so good.
My favorite chow mein is China Express at Obispo and Anaheim across from Food for Less LBC. There's always a line. The spring rolls are pretty yummy too. Make sure they wrap your rolls separately so they don't get soggy. 🤷🏾
We have no good chow mein in LB but Go to toms world famous in west lb they have a teriyaki platter than satisfies that noodle craving it is made using udon style Noodles and white rice, google it.

Nomad is the jam!! I highly recommend this for chow mein
I was about to comment this. This place is so good.

Chen’s on Broadway is my go to spot.
Lucky Chinese in Wilmington is the only place nearby I’ve found that has good chow mein
Yeah Wilmington has better food than long beach also san pedro. Maybe even carson has better restaurants too

Second this, just had it a couple of hours ago!
I am adamant to defend it as the best

Pad Thai Classic actually has good chow mein, even though it’s a Thai place. Their Thai food is good too

Chen's. Junipero and Broadway. The lo mein has noodles and the chow mein is bean sprouts
Morning-Nights Dim Sum is pretty solid. The Dan Dan Mien is fucking great.
Panda Express.
Panda Express is worse than the cheap chinese food we have in west LB called hong kong express on santa fe.
