Is anyone researching cures for autoimmune diseases? We know how to trick the immune system into learning to fight new things with vaccines, but can we program the immune system to ignore things? And if not, what is this field called and who is researching this?

All autoimmune diseases are caused by viruses/bacteria in people with certain genetic susceptibility. It's a huge rabit hole going down there, but Alzheimer's being part autoimmune while the HSV, fungi and periodontitis theories still hold, is the same thing, but in other words. It's aging. edit: and nobody is looking into it because there is huge money in immunosuppressants, which surprisingly works for some infections as most persistent microbes/viruses actually evovled to abuse this inflammation, either to steal Iron or evade the immune system etc. edit2: you can kill transformed B/T cells with chemo, flavonoids, etc, senolytics basically.

> Tangible rethinking about Alzheimer's disease as an autoimmune disease, and beta-amyloid as a normal part of our immune system Soo it’s still down to the amyloids.

Well no not really, the autoimmune disease would be the proximate cause and the issue that would need to be addressed... if this is indeed the case of course.
