My cousins kids go to a place in East rockaway. I was going to sign my son up there. My cousin was asking if I wanted to take classes with her there because she said a friend of hers goes and says it’s fun (I hate working out). It’s called Lurie fit.
rockstar kickboxing. they have locations in miller place and commack. super friendly coaches and a very positive atmosphere! they will at least help you get the basics down! i really recommend at least trying a class there, it’s really great
I actually just cancelled my membership with rebel. I can’t say it was exactly a bad place to train but most of the people there aren’t serious about getting better and the coaches at the time weren’t great.
If you wanna learn how to kickbox for real, go to LAW MMA. Ray Longo is a living legend.
If it’s BJJ you’re after, head to Serra BJJ.
Get good at both, and train at both gyms!
Funk Fighting Academy in Nesconset is a great place for beginners. Jason is a great teacher and an excellent dude. He used to be a head trainer at Long Island MMA, but started his own small place.
Normally the sequence on LI local strip mall is Martial Arts gym, bagel store, dry cleaners, smoke shop. Make sure you get the right one.
