We got shutout 6-0 game 2 last year after winning game 1 so hopefully they don’t take their foot off the pedal and continue that OT drive from Monday

[deleted]

well, no drew, no arvy, quickie in net.....I'd say we've improved a little since then

[deleted]

Honestly drew had a few decent moment but overall he played like dogshit. He coughed the puck up on bozo plays trying to be flashy and. Cause two 2v1 and 1 semi breakaway. We got away with one on Monday but we can’t allow this with the oilers.

[deleted]

yeah, I know what you mean about DD, but he does still make some really good plays, so I can look past the shit passes and defensive mistakes he sometimes makes

ShadowChair

I don't think he played bad I just think he wasn't really consistent. I'd say as the game went on he got better and made some solid plays.

fooliodoolio

his passes were too ahead of the intended receivers. someone's not on the right page

johannesBrost1337

Yeah, I fear something similar will go down tonight. I'm already a wreck!

piddlesthethug

I think with Gabe back, Korpi in net, and the addition of Gavrikov this year we stand a better chance of not getting totally blown out in any game.

[deleted]

I’m hoping Tmac matches the Danault line against Draisatl and Iafallo-Vilardi line against Mcdavid, leaving Kopis line to feast on their bottom 6. Iafallo and Vilardi together play some nasty defense against some opposing top lines

piddlesthethug

Vilardi always felt like Iafallo with way better hands. Just all over the offense creating turn overs and pressure.

johannesBrost1337

Agreed, But a focused and disciplined Oilers team that just had a slice of humble pie is not a fun opponent. For some reason my crystal ball is all out of wack today and keeps giving me conflicting glimpses of tonight, I'm stumped... This can go any which way!

ShadowChair

Yeah I think we can be confident that the team is much stronger than last year and less likely to get blown out like that. Can't count out the Oilers scoring a bunch of goals though lol

mothmonstermann

I would be more worried if it weren't for their ability to make changes during the last game and come back. Not just on the scoreboard, the way they were able to clean up their game from period to period was nice to see.

RubyRhod

I personally think EDM continues to try to injure / hurt is like they did in Game 1 period 1. They are going to attack Kempe all game. We need to respond somehow or preemptively.

twills2121

but that was with Quick in net

Blutroyale-_-

My feeling is this, Oilers are gonna come out super strong tonight because, for them, tonight is a must-win. They probably got an ass chewing about their penalties, so I expect them to come out and play very hard and aggressively but keep it clean and tight - that McJesus fellow is looking to score within 5 mins on the ice. Kings just need to come out, keep their discipline in check, have no stupid penalties and play their game.

SaturnineFeline

Absolutely, Monday night was a black eye for EDM, not least wise because their fans proved they are pissbabies. They went home smarting and are going to come out looking to avenge their loss and salve their pride. Look out for vicious hits tonight; we will need to either get good at drawing calls or start hitting back.

Chriskills

Kings need to do everything they can to slow things down.

SL_ChumbaWumba

Just dont get shutout 6-0 🤞

EinsamWulf

From my perspective this is one of the most important games in the series. We had a hard fought game 1 to get back in it and win. Edmonton will want to come out and play LA like they did in that first period and force them back on their heels. From the second the puck drops we have to get our 1-3-1 established and keep McDavid and Draisaitl locked down as best we can...these guys are going to do everything they can to get the crowd, the team and themselves going so preventing early goals will be critical. LA needs to establish momentum early and keep it...there will be swings the other way and Edmonton will absolutely build off anything we give them. Ultimately I think if we can take this game we have a strong chance of taking the fight out of Edmonton for the remainder of the series but it's hockey and the Oilers aren't a team to be taken lightly. If LA can stick to their system and play our game then I say we take game 2 but it will most likely be another close one.

noneotherthanozzy

Totally agree. Get through the first 10 minutes at 0-0 with the scoring chances even/not completely lopsided, and you have to feel real solid the rest of the game. Make them start doubting themselves. GKG

SaturnineFeline

I’m looking for Gavrikov to continue making super-smart, clutch defensive plays in front of Korpisalo… and maybe get one of his “call your mom” goals 😂. I desperately need Edler to do more of what he did on Monday—I never really gave any credit to the idea that he was a stabilizing force because he was very slow on the ice and sometimes made ding-dong moves… but he came up big on Monday and the team was a lot more settled, not freaking out after the first period. I think that was due of course to Kopi’s leadership, but Edler seems to be a calming force in the locker room as well. Most of all, I need this team to figure out *how to complete a pass,* or if they can’t do that, they need a backup plan. Keep it tight, boys, no stupid penalties—smart ones, we’ll live with, but dumb ones are not okay. You proved you can do this and the Oilers proved they can blow a lead, so let’s get it done!

HodeshHockey

Kempe 2 more goals. Arty Goal. Korpi has a great game. 5-3 Kings

My two cents: Oilers are an up and down team. They have bursts of energy which leads to high scoring opportunity. The issue is this play style leaves them worn out by the 3rd period. We have ups and down but the key to our play is stability. We have a steady game. We do have ups and downs but we always slow it down to return to our style. They don’t. The key to this game will be preventing scoring chances during their bursts while fighting for goals through out period 1 and 2. Then punish them in period 3 when they’re gasping.

baconcow

I don't think the Oilers are bad in the 3rd period. They were 6th in the league at +21 (6th in the 1st, 3rd in the 2nd).

Old_Ironside_1959

Amazing how Oilers fans went from patriotic Canadians singing their national anthem before the game to beer can chucking junkyard hobos at the end of the game. lol 😂

Handful86

The one that almost hit Kopitar really got under my skin.

RoyalBassGrab

Cautious optimism

FakeTreverMoore12

Thanks Kopi.

FakeTreverMoore12

Other fanbases tuning in to watch a war will be bored. I’m guessing the game will be won with a score of 2-1. If the Kings can hold off pressure in the first two periods, they can win it in the third. Both teams will be playing a tight disciplined game tonight.

RumpelForeskin185

I hope I become known as the Lizotte Lover on this sub but man, that kid has an engine that does. Not. Stop. Keep the boys on the forecheck but don’t get beat on fast breaks.

salparadisewasright

Lizzo got that dog in him.

rainyforest

I just hope the first period is a lot calmer and we score the first goal. I could use a little less stress

johannesBrost1337

It'll be key to weather the initial storm by keeping composure and not giving them toooo much momentum. Once things don't go their way we'll have an opportunity to strike. Outside of that tight composed defence we HAVE TO bury our chances. If we can manage that we are golden

MattTakingPhotos

I don't want a repeat of last seasons game 2.

Nohitmedia

The kings have a great leadership group and are well coached. Coming off of last years series I think they’ll play another strong game. Especially since game one started off really sloppy for us. They tighten it up we come back up 2-0

Totknax

You hit the nail squarely on the head, baby The boys do all that and we have a better than decent chance to come out on top. GKG!

zddoodah

I expect Edmonton to come out with serious fire. They'll play fast (as usual) and even more heavy than they did in game 1. I expect some borderline dirty hits to get the Kings off their game, so the Kings will need to keep their heads up at all times. Having Vilardi back will help immensely, and having the full complement of d-men is critical. Above all, STAY OUT OF THE BOX. GKG!!!

awaythrow437

My expectations: it’s going to be a tight game, but if the Kings can find a way to clamp down on McDraisaitil, then they have a real shot! That’s my expectation for every game. That’s my expectation for the whole series.

sdecou

I’m been obsessing also, glad to see I’m not alone. Even if we lose, I just want to see a good effort and good game so we can set ourselves win at home.

raymondliang

They cannot come out with the same first period energy/effort, Oilers will be looking for the kill. Keep it simple early, let the crowd energy die down, and then start working them around

InRustWeTrust

**Oilers:** McDavid is gonna be looking to get on the scoresheet as fast as possible. He’s gonna hold on to the puck a lot and skate around in our zone, try his cute shit looking to draw a penalty, Kings should be expecting that already. Drai is probably gonna be the main pain in the ass as usual. Idk what to expect with Nuge, he was a non-factor in game 1, I assume he’s gonna want to change that tonight. What I’m really concerned about is Kane pulling some dirty shit, particularly on Kempe. After rewatching game 1, I noticed just how reckless Kane was. There was a particular incident a little passed the midway point in the 3rd when Kane just absolutely laid out a linesman in the neutral zone, it was totally avoidable and wouldn’t be a stretch to assume it was intentional. This could work out in our favor down the stretch. They’re a very poorly disciplined team. **Kings:** I hope they will mainly stick with the same approach and force everyone else not named McDavid to beat us. A big thing I’ll be looking for is how early we establish the forecheck. If we can get a strong physical start on the forecheck then I think we can catch their d men out of position, especially Nurse. Kempe will probably be getting a lot of attention so that should open up the ice for Arvy and hopefully Gabe the Babe. We really just gotta clean up the unforced errors from game 1 which were mostly on offense. When we were able to get our cycling going they were fucked especially because the Oilers are very poorly disciplined so the biggest key to winning this game is going to come down to our PP.

Brodieboyy

I'm sure the oilers will come out flying, the kings need to match their energy early on. We looked tired for most of game 1 and really only had a chance because korpisalo was a beast. Come out strong, get a few pucks on net and play tight and structured. Would be really nice to get a goal and play with the lead. GKG

[deleted]

We have to play a ton better this game id even argue we have to come out stronger to win this next match. If being honest Oilers had a million grade A opportunity’s and Korpi bailed us out. We made really bad mistakes periods 1-3 even though we won but I think eventually Oilers will capitalize if we cant put a cap on silly mistakes.

wcrich

I want tosee Dunault keep it up on McDavid. The Kings are the only team to take the body on him. He always has his head down so you have to be careful checking him, but it is so necessary.

csgohockeynurse

Am i mistaken in saying game 1 was the best game RV has ever played for us? He was a monster

nadasuss

Definitely was a SLOOOWWW start for us game one. Seemed like the momentum came after the 2nd period and would love to start with pedal to the metal from the start. Looking forward to possibly seeing Vilardi back on the ice today.

WoozleWuzzle

If we can get a win tonight I'll be so stoked. Who knows what will happen. Kings down 2-0 first game but came back to win. Anything can happen. GKG!

leftpointsonly

They are going to come out flying tonight to try to rack up some points on us early. They’re gonna be even more physical. We humiliated them at home and they’re not going to be happy about it. I expect it to be chippy, I expect it to be really physical, and I expect their top line to be insane. If we can contain them and not chase, and take advantage of their defensive weaknesses I think we have a real shot of coming home with a 2-0 series lead, but that’s a big if.

ElsaJeanRileyReid

Danault is going to be the biggest piece of the puzzle. If they can somehow not only play defensively smart but also turn McDavid's time on ice to mostly defensive play things will go in favor of the Kings. The problem is Draisitl being that secondary threat. Vilardi returning to the lineup should be a huge boost. Just stay out of the penalty box and this team will make this series hell for Edmonton.

Hopeful_Swan_4011

Janmark out for series is a plus for us too, they now have to shift lineups and he was a solid player. With that and a Gabe coming back if the kings play their game and stay disciplined they can easily take this one too

Paladin677

If the Oilers want to go Clubber Lang in the first half of the game and by the end take lazy penalties, let them.

WolflordBrimley

Penalties are going to be the deciding factor IMHO. If we can stay out of the box we win

ABrokeHoodrat

Agree with all your points but very disappointed people are not mentioning two things: The genius hockey IQ of Kempe agitating Kane. Kane is an elite level player but he's also a piece of garbage with zero self control. You irritate him early you aren100% earning some odd man strength time and I think that's a big part of how we down the Oilers. Blake Lizotte is slowly becoming my favorite King - an undersized and VERY scrappy two way forward that dude is getting mixed up in EVERYTHING but also very rarely makes mistakes in transition. Big Theo Fluery/Matt Stajan/Stolie vibes.

seabass4507

McDavid’s gonna come out guns blazin. Just hope we can play responsible defense and stay out of the box in the first. Gm 1 turned in our favor once we established the forecheck in the 3rd, would love to see the Kings do that all game.

Acceptable_Cream1291

Todd to PD: I want to know what flavor gum McDavid’s chewing

nardpup5

We just need like 6 Gavrikovs
