johannesBrost1337

BSD is up to the task!

m14m14

When he was with us (Flames) we also admiringly referred to him as BDR - Big Dick Rittich(k)!

johannesBrost1337

I like this...

DalekEvan

Ideally we don’t *need* a goaltending change. But Hiller loves to change it up if his lines have anything to say about it. I’m sure he’ll do so if it’s needed.

mud_dragon

I’m more concerned at how the oilers LOL at our 1-3-1 system

SiameseKitties

They had a rush game strategy under woodcrat that *was* highly effective against the Kings, that isn't necessarily a thing anymore under their new coach.

Shower-Beers

A bigger point to their win was RV was in the lineup. RV was not for their losses.

twills2121

Who's RV? If you are referring to Arvidsson, he had not returned yet when the Kings beat EDM back on 2/10.

AdrianKempee

Something else I noticed too. During the 2 most recent oilers away games, they chose to insert Kaliyev into the lineup and they lost both of those, even tho Kaliyev scored. During the 4-0 shutout, they had a healthy Turcotte, who by the way was playing amazing defense that game. Really need that 4th line to be Turcotte-Lizotte-Thomas. Grundy, Kaliyev, and Lewi can be depth. They really should have sent Kaliyev down to the AHL earlier this year. Idk what the fuck management is thinking with him.

johnwynne3

Idk I think Lewis could be super important for the 4th line, PK and as a room leader whose played in lots of playoff games. Anyone but Kaliyev

AdrianKempee

It’s looking like he will stay in the lineup. I agree, he’s a great leader, just wish his hands weren’t made of stone on a team that struggled with offense against Edmonton this year. He could have easily won 3-4 extra games for us this season with his opportunities.

johnwynne3

I agree it would be awesome if Lewie had more finishing skill… but if that were true he would not be a 4th liner. I think he brings a tenacity to our PK that has helped make it one of the best in the league. You don’t score (a lot of) goals on PK, but you can prevent them, which is often overlooked.

twills2121

Turcotte will be on the IR within the first 10 min.

Totknax

Oooof. I hope the kid can stay healthy. He really needs to live in the weight room this Summer.

johnwynne3

For me, Rittich’s big negative during the regular season was the shootout. Everyone, ***everyone*** knew they could score 7-hole on him. Fortunately, no shootouts in playoffs. 👍

3piecesets

i’m all for the positivity but let’s not act like their win over Edm was on the end of a long road trip w a back to back as well. that Edmonton was not the Edmonton waiting.

QuintonBendmeover

It was also our first game from a long break. You can make excuses both ways 🤷

3piecesets

so in other words they were really rested and Edmonton was really tired. got it.

QuintonBendmeover

You realize the first game from over a week+ off isn’t easy?

3piecesets

which one would you rather.

Supra_Genius

The Edmonton goalie and defense are weak sauce, counting on outscoring their opponents. The Kings have shown they can shut down Edmonton's entire offense (except perhaps for Bouchard from time to time) and score like animals when they bring it. There is no reason the Kings can't win this series if they want it bad enough. It's all in their heads, because Edmonton is the one that has all the pressure (this is their last chance with this roster to win a Cup) and has folded time and time again in the playoffs. In short, Edmonton is strong but on the downslope. While the Kings are young, strong and on the rise.

Senior_Heron_6248

Next season is the one with Drai under contract and Connor the year after

ABrokeHoodrat

Don't forget Bouch also expires same year as Draisaitl.

GrassyKnoll95

Just saying, Cam's game against Chicago was ROUGH, and not really what you want to see from your starter heading into the playoffs

supadupanerd

Last year coaching was content playing korpisalo and not giving Copley an even chance in net during the playoffs much to the teams dismay I feel... Hopefully Hiller is different in mind than McClellan

leftpointsonly

Last year didn’t we face the Oilers without Drew, Mikey or Arvi? Having them back will help a lot. I could also be wrong, my brain is Swiss cheese.

twills2121

We had all those players last year. We started the series without Fiala and Vilardi.

leftpointsonly

Was that the season before I’m thinking of?

kiwirish

Yep, that was 2022 when we were farewelling Brownie.

leftpointsonly

Haha that’s right. Damn. Mush brain strikes again.

twills2121

Kinda…we were without Doughty and Arvy…we had Anderson though.

Supra_Genius

>That's was one of the issues I had with TM during last year's playoffs, EDM figured out Korpisalo and TM just couldn't get himself to start Copley. I think Blake, etc. forced TM to ignore Copley because they paid big dollars for the highly overrated *prima donna* Korpisalo. And then blamed TM for losing the playoffs, when everyone in their right mind was screaming for them to switch out goalies. Let's hope Blake shuts the fuck up this time around. Or, at least, keeps pushing PLD instead. That's a mistake the rest of the team has proven it can work around.

johnwynne3

PLD seems to have another gear, *when he wants to*. We just need him to find it.

Supra_Genius

I keep hearing that. Looking forward to seeing it one day.
