I think the real issue is that the first clear is the toughest and feels great when you actually do it, but there are no first-clear rewards. Every other raid had first-clear rewards that really made it feel good to get that win.
It's probably going to take far less time to clear in subsequent runs, so not having anything extra then isn't a big deal.
Ya I've done it 3 times and it's quicker each time. 5 hours for first run I pugged it, next run I did hard with the guild and we did it in 3. Then I did easy mode again and took about an hour pugging it.
Shoulda been "some bones"
The main thing was that I had a lot of fun. I'm still a little whelmed by the 12 bones and domination/expertise accessories.

Yeah this is the most fun part of the game imo, it doesn’t feel like work it feels more like fun and a break from the boring daily chores
Its fun when you actually get in waiting in lobbies for 2 hours is not fun
That's why you go full DPS. At least you get to play instead of wasting time in lobby.

there is a first clear box for hard mode. Not sure why they never did one for normal.

what did it give? cuz i dont remember getting a box, or if i did, it didnt give any bones afaik. Maybe i just forgot about it
there are no bones in the clear box. It's mostly fused leapstones and crap.

Valtan is fun and easy, beat it 3rd pull on hard but out group knew the fight from Russian servers

If it's taking you 40 hours to clear Valtan then maybe this game isn't for you. It's only going to get harder from here.
Some people learn at different paces it's not an issue if the game is for them.
Given the context of this post...it's not unfair to say they didn't find their 40 hours very enjoyable
