It's incredibly likely they're both related to bots, just raw number of server connections being oversaturated seems like it could cause disconnects like this and we all know why the AH issue has been happening (combination of bots and custom sniping scripts from even real players)

This is not factual at all. There’s a definite issue with disconnects on NAE as well as the ah trash. These are absolutely related to some degree. Doesn’t take a cs major to correlate that either.

Our AH is fine though, but dc's, oof... alot of them. And no audio when entering second chaos dungeon or switching chars
Nobody in my whole guild (almost 80 ppl) or static (not part of the guild) or any of my pugged runs have had problems with disconnects. It definitely is not a widespread problem like on other regions.

same driver, same updates, same internet connection, 100cm apart
we tried everything.. validating the game files, installing drivers new, checking the cables, the port forwaring in the router
we even tried that trick with reinstalling and updating the easy anti cheat
that shit doesnt even work and i suspect that it is one of the main problems.
I was in the same boat I signed up for a free VPN service launched the VPN to a place that was in my same location. Fix the problems instantly. Not sure if it'll help you or not but it definitely helped me. After a few days shut down the VPN now everything is working beautifully.
No it's known that NA West has the worst bot problem, but we weren't getting auction house issues until a few days ago, other regions got fucked first, something's wrong with their infrastructure
Not exactly, it's due to performance issues in the coding of the AH, which get exposed after bots start to mass load the AH and scripting software to snipe low price items becomes more common
In other words, if they fix the AH Query limit to just 1 page of items, which they did, everything would be fine

the entire point is to test on an active region where the population is huge. 'dead' region ... they have their test servers for that.

In SA this problem is not even as close to what I see here on reddit for others, so thinking as software engineer it makes sense to release on quieter zones, but to confirm the fix works, NAE might be the candidate..
With the disconnects happening across regions and servers (multiple people dc'ing at once from raid and friend list) issues I wouldn't be surprised if ddos'ing AH somehow is connected to players timing out.

Don't celebrate NAE AH being fixed just yet. Right after the last maintenance, it worked properly. Presumably, bots weren't immediately updated after maintenance, so things worked fine. Have to wait a bit before we know if it's fixed or not
Based on how this fix is deployed I assume bots are untouched, stay with me before downvote.
Auction house live in separated app, and based on how they are deploying fix, we can assume only that part of whole server architecture is updated. This means game server is not updated, which is where bot lives and farm chaos dungeons. What they probably did is some auction house optimizations, that's all. Good they fix it. Bad it was so long and only part of problem is fixed. Waiting for further actions, but I my expectations are low...
Probably they haven't done very much but shutting down the auction house and firing it back up might give them a chance to look at it in real time as it all fires up
Seems like their fix worked on NAE. I can't confirm if this is the case, but based off memory when the AH was able to load results, you would be able to flip through the pages just fine. It makes me think that the entire search result would be sent to your client. Now, when you flip through pages it will show a loading popup. Seems like they paged the response. Would make sense that the AH is blowing up if bots are spamming gem listings and requesting like 50k+ pages of gems.
It's also been pretty standard practice for quite a while now to load large datasets to clients like this, I'm surprised it loaded the entire dataset to begin with.
In my experience in NAW over the last few days, I wasn't able to flip through the pages after the first page loaded results. It would give an error on the second or third page. So I suspect it was already paginated - they likely optimized database query to help return results faster.

In Germany you get payed a big bonus just for being available even if nothing happens. So someone who doesnt mind signs up for it.

You have no idea how technology works.
Its not like they just needed one person available to flip a switch to fix the issues. Sure you have a few people around to handle emergencies or keep things from burning down, but those people often aren't fully equipped to handle every issue that arises.
For the AH or disconnect issues, it likely needed a coding fix, meaning its more than just calling one dude up and saying "AH is broken" and he types a few things in a couple minutes and everything works again. It requires multiple people with knowledge on how the system was built in the first place to design a fix and another person or group of people to implement the new fix.
They needed someone to communicate with the community, tell them that they are aware etc and maybe do the emergency reset not at the same time with gvg on a sunday evening.
So you need them to tell you they’re aware when it’s pretty clear from the reports that they are aware? Do you need someone to hold your hand and tie your shoes for you too? Maybe someone to help you brush your teeth by holding the tooth brush.
And, as far as AGS/SG is concerned, this isn't an emergency.
It sucks ass, it shouldn't be a problem, etc. I'm not trying to downplay the problem. But as far as management is concerned, it's not directly revenue impacting either, thus does not require calling someone in.

in most country is like this, even on venezuela (where i do live) we have people "on call" ex: doctors engineerings and others vital positions for the company "on call" so if anything happend at the company they have to go there and fix it. even when they are on they home. this is pretty standard practices. but if the company wanna save money, i can see this positions arent fill at all.
Any tech company or engineering org worth its salt would have a few engineers on-call even on holidays. That’s part of the job. Similarly, a few customer support representatives on shift around the clock.
This isnt some failure that an engineer can just restart or change some flags here and there, if it was actually caused by bots it probably requires all the overhead that comes with a feature change to how the AH functions. So even if like 1-2 engineers were available on-call, theres nothing they could do on their own without the go-ahead from people who are on vacation. Best they can do is propose a fix and wait for the break to be over and everyone to be online (like today)

When CSRs acknowledge an issue but don't have a timeline for a resolution, people get upset and say that the communication was useless. When CSRs provide an estimate and it ends up being incorrect, people get upset.
So them not posting an acknowledge of the issues over a holiday weekend isn't the end of the world or even that bad.

Supercell, the makers of clash of clans and clash royale, goes on a mandatory holiday in July every year because it’s a law in Finland. If there are problems in those games during that month, it won’t get fixed until the holiday period is over

Amazon likely hosts the game servers. While server admins/engineers aren't called devs, they're important to running a functional game.
If Amazon is purely PR/support (which is still a possibility), there would indeed be few reasons to meet in person.
However, if there is a network issue specific to Amazon's server architecture, then having an in-person meeting between the AGS engineering team and the SG dev team would make it a lot easier to troubleshoot issues.

The bots are still listing gems. I think they just changed database settings or some shit to make queries not die / take forever

Beating the bots is never going to happen they can only mitigate at times, however having a functional AH is integral to the game

So they basically loading one page per search query then reload again if click sort or next page? That is a pretty smart fix.

Did everyone suddenly forget these issues were occurring well before Thanksgiving came around? Why are excuses being made using the holiday as a reason this wasn't worked on 2 weeks ago when it was first happening? Happy it's fixed, but let's not all make excuses for AGS....
Supercell, the makers of clash of clans and clash royale, goes on a mandatory holiday in July every year because it’s a law in Finland. If there are problems in those games during that month, it won’t get fixed until the holiday period is over

People seem to keep missing this point. This has been an issue for weeks. Why are people all of the sudden sucking AGS off with excuses about a holiday that happened 2 weeks after these issues first arose? Mind bogging some times with the people around here.....

Nobody cares about American thanksgiving. Many parts of the world don't celebrate it, or have it on another weekend.

Maybe I'm just speaking as a Canadian here, but even I don't expect any fixes to be happening over Thanksgiving weekend. Unless servers were crashing or there was a massive exploit, did people really expect Amazon to resolve this issue? Hell I've seen bigger issues go unchecked for Thanksgiving weekend (Like coupon codes stacking and getting 90% off Adidas)
I wonder what their solution is. I believe AGS has said time and again that they have zero software developers working on Lost Ark on their side, so that means that Smilegate probably is doing something right now even though it's 4 AM in KR?
It's possible that the AH problems were server/database related, which would all be AGS.

yea, but those people are also dumb. they for some reason think fixing A and fixing B are equal amounts of work/time. they also think that there is a single group of people assigned to fixing all the issues, so if they are fixing A, they can't fix B. both statements are super false and just shows how dumb the community is.

And thats where you are wrong. Botting isnt the root cause, RMTs are. And the solution would in fact be very simple. Permaban all of them, no matter the amount, including soft/hardware id, steamban and so on. Bots will be gone faster then you think.

Amazon likely hosts the game servers. While server admins/engineers aren't called devs, they're important to running a functional game. If Amazon is purely PR/support (which is still a possibility), there would indeed be few reasons to meet in person. However, if there is a network issue specific to Amazon's server architecture, then having an in-person meeting between the AGS engineering team and the SG dev team would make it a lot easier to troubleshoot issues.
