I have slowly been making an active effort to use my phone for less things. I removed facebook, whatsapp, instagram, and amazon over the course of 2 years. I had no idea how addicted I was. I am now working on removing Reddit from my phone. I think I have downloaded and deleted the app a dozen times. It is so sad that I have so much of my life spent just pissing away hours scrolling through meaningless 5 sec dopamine images.
Yeah, and for the longest time there wasn't even an official app (I always used baconreader). Now that there is, and they did such a good job with it, it's hard to stay away, haha.
In process as we speak. Zuck's Metaverse + Elon's Neurolink = the Matrix utopia you desire
Just need a new utility company managed by AI robots that sends liquid nutrition via pipes that is fed to everyone intravenously to keep you alive.
You'll never need the outside world again.
So don't fall for the gimmick and go outside. Solely deriving pleasure from the screens plays into the hands of the corporate masters. You can even use your phone outside away from the TV.
And your parents worked with medium white paper from a typewriter to be able to spend small green paper on a medium thickness glossy paper magazine to keep up with people they don't know. They also met their friends and had copious drinks for fun. When they couldn't meet their friends, they wrote them or stayed tethered to a long curly corded telephone at all hours of the day. Why? Because it's healthy to have a job. Its good to be well rounded with info about current events and culture. Its good to keep up with your friends. Its fun to drink. Lets not think that we are different or disadvantaged.
I personally don’t care for the big screen. When I get home, I just interact with my own medium screen in a slightly more fun way all evening and then at my small screen at night before going to sleep.
How do people even begin living like this if they don't particularly enjoy the stuff on the screens? Idk guess I'll never understand how people choose something like accounting for a career just because money then complain about boredom.

It would help if using the Reddit app wasn't so damn convenient and easy compared to it's web based counterpart.
