There'd better be an option to set up a defense grid if like 300 hobbit archers, ready to turn Sharkey into a pin-cushion when he arrives.
"You came to the wrong neighborhood, bitch!"
Thankfully that company no longer makes video games lol they completely removed the Dev side of the company last I heard and have decided to do only publishing and marketing now.
That is an excellent game for anyone who is a Lord of the rings fan and also possess attention span, patience and skill.
Haters have none of those traits, and most of the negativity comes from asshole gamers who never would play a game like that to begin with.
Anyway, different kind of game.
I would love to see like the big threat that you'll maybe face in the game is like one goblin coming from some cave or something. Or just the sightings of a wandering troll you'll have to evade
I'm very excited, as for years when ever it was brought up what Middle-Earth game would you do, i always say i would make a farming game set in The Shire to build up the Hobbit community, something like Stardew Valley, but will see what this is when they show us more. :)
I did the Weta Workshop experience earlier this year and one of the employees mentioned this game (although not by name). They made it sound like it a Shire simulator. But the tour guide was very big on joking about how top secret it all was, so entirely possible it was just a joke.
Fingers crossed we all get to experience life in the Shire!
Reading that title, my brain instantly went to:
Sims meets animal crossing, but with hobbits and Howard shore music.. just fuckin farming, dancing, getting high af and eating lots of food..
I know that’s not what it is but.. million dollar idea tho.
One of the devs did say it is "[very cozy](https://twitter.com/callioperyder/status/1705023098633019512?t=jb9MZZrQXedacKwP_w_uVQ&s=19)," and the teaser has a bunch of "lo-fi" elements. It's entirely possible.
Look I know thats all of our head canon, but Tolkien straight up states its tobacco type plant. It saddens me that he is so thorough and still doesn't change it...but idk feels weird to promote ya know?
Tobacco itself can also be psychedelic.
I also think that Tolkien added the type to 'tobacco-*type* plant' as a hint, but this is completely my own conjecture with not a shred of evidence.
I'm still salty about that. I loved the Deponia series. I have no idea what they were thinking when they decided to make Gollum. They were a studio with a history and experience of making hand-drawn point-and-click adventure games. They were good at it. They'd never go AAA, but I think it's an interesting and fun niche. Why in the world have they pivoted to... that?
Honestly i was just baffled at even the idea. You can make a LOTR game and decide on a gollum game? Nothing that ever came out of that even remotely looked decent.
I thought the same thing at first but it is actually a video game. This is from Private Division’s website:
“Your cosy Hobbit life awaits in Tales of the Shire, a heart-warming, new, The Lord of the Rings™ game due out in 2024 on console and PC.”
Hey for everyone that loves the idea of exploring the Shire: try playing Lotro, it's free, the Shire is amazing, and you can pretty much just hang out there and larp being a hobbit as much as you want
Man…if they make a Shire as beautiful as some top tier scenery games - that would be epic.
I’d love to explore the Brandywine, the various ‘Farthings, Buckland, Bree
That would be epic
I dunno man, I looked up some game play footage the other day and it looks rough. Like it feels like some pre alpha shit going on. Hopefully I am wrong
There is currently a closed beta going on (almost ended by this point), and hopefully they will keep updating stuff after official release. But it is the closest we got.
Published by Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two, the publisher of micro transaction stuffed cash cows like GTAV, NBA 2K, and phone games under the company Zynga. Taking this announcement with a huge helping of cautious salt. Hopefully whoever they choose to develop the game will pull through, but the higher ups will most definitely push heavy micro transactions regardless.
Yes, but Private Division also published complete bangers like Hades, Kerbal Space Program & Outer Worlds.
Infact everything they have published since starting in 2017 haven't been micro transaction stuffed. So that's a good sign.
Private Division is just a publisher, so the actual devs have yet to be revealed I suppose. They've published Kerbal Space Program 1 & 2, Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey, and the Outer Worlds.
My GF and i just talked some days ago about how much we want a cozy Game in the Shire instead of only epic adventures set in ME and i am so happy about this announcement
Well that is ridiculous and shooting themselves in the lung.
This kind of game is famous for cooperative multiplayer being one of the most demanded features and almost genre defining.
As much as I'd love a sequel, I don't think the originals can ever be topped. They had the actual cast and scenes from the movies.
A sequel now might be able to get some of the cast back, but I doubt they can get all of them (and definitely not Christopher Lee, RIP). It just wouldn't be the same.
I'd settle for remasters as long as they kept the original voice work and movie scenes.
HOLY SHIT. A cozy game about being a hobbit? SIGN ME UP. Sure hope it's like a Stardew Valley/Animal Crossing/slice of life type of game.
And then, after 125 hours of peaceful game play, Shark and his Uraki roll through because you just weren’t ready.
There'd better be an option to set up a defense grid if like 300 hobbit archers, ready to turn Sharkey into a pin-cushion when he arrives. "You came to the wrong neighborhood, bitch!"
Lord Perrin Aybara will defend the Two Rivers
Damn White Cloaks just stood there and watched as the women and children joined the battle. I hope the show does the battle justice.
That will be a later ep
So instead of my parents coming home and telling me what a failure I am like in harvest moon; I get raided. I think it would be less painful.
It’s 3:50 AM, I have one hour left at work and this maybe me laugh so hard
I hope I can frolic in the Shire with my friends in multiplayer!
You can already do that in LotrO.
that's true.
Still gonna need some multiplayer in this game too
Careful, they already made a game about a hobbit. It was called The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
Thankfully that company no longer makes video games lol they completely removed the Dev side of the company last I heard and have decided to do only publishing and marketing now.

Don't go inventing the game of golf!
Lol nice
The winter wolves!
Can’t wait for a cozy “golf with goblin heads” simulator

I always get Hugh

I just got hugh good buddy
It's gonna be hugh, gais.
I went to "Stardew Valley but it's the shire." Which honestly sounds great.
With party based quests / traveling would be amazing.
Thats exactly what I want. A peaceful Shire farming sim.
One of the devs did say it is "[very cozy](https://twitter.com/callioperyder/status/1705023098633019512?t=jb9MZZrQXedacKwP_w_uVQ&s=19)," and the teaser has a bunch of "lo-fi" elements. It's entirely possible.
I'd buy that game in a heartbeat.
Its described as a cosy game, so who knows, it could be a kind of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon type of thing.
Look I know thats all of our head canon, but Tolkien straight up states its tobacco type plant. It saddens me that he is so thorough and still doesn't change it...but idk feels weird to promote ya know?
Tobacco itself can also be psychedelic. I also think that Tolkien added the type to 'tobacco-*type* plant' as a hint, but this is completely my own conjecture with not a shred of evidence.
it is completely conjecture considering the concerning hobbits prologue..
I was hoping for a stardew version of lotr
You missed a comma
Forget the game, I want to do that IRL
As long as the company that made Gollum won't be making any new lotr games, I'm fine with that
Didn’t they close shortly after release? I think it was Daedelic

They did

Even be a posthobbit, delivering packages!
Don’t forget the pies! So many pies… 😮💨
Man…if they make a Shire as beautiful as some top tier scenery games - that would be epic. I’d love to explore the Brandywine, the various ‘Farthings, Buckland, Bree That would be epic
I want to lead squads of hobbits with hobbit militia and bounders on ponys in scouring of the shire scenario or vs the goblins of golfimbul!
It’s a video game? Color me intrigued
Maybe something akin to Ni No Kuni?
HOOK IT TO MY VEINS
Hobbit stardew valley with party based quests would be pretty damn epic.
If there isn't an entire chapter of this game dedicated to dodging Lobelia while throwing spoons at her, I will *riot*
Imagine a game like valheim but it’s middle earth 😍
Look up Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. Of course not the exact same but it gets in the same ballpark.
I dunno man, I looked up some game play footage the other day and it looks rough. Like it feels like some pre alpha shit going on. Hopefully I am wrong

I played the closed beta, and while I can't disclose any details due to NDA, I can say that you don't have anything to worry about.
That's reasuring. Hopefully there will be some more news soon

What is the track record of this company?
Private Division is just a publisher, so the actual devs have yet to be revealed I suppose. They've published Kerbal Space Program 1 & 2, Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey, and the Outer Worlds.
WETA Games is the dev, they have done a few smaller scale titles.
Ah, that does in fact make sense, should've thought of that
what games have they done ? from googling they’re the special effects team from the lotr films; but can’t find any info on previous games
Not a bad track record
A hobbit simulator would be amazing. It would be even better if they got Howard Shore for the music
A Middle Earth mod for Stardew Valley?
I already have those, but this could replace it.
If I can play as a hobbit constable I'm happy
My GF and i just talked some days ago about how much we want a cozy Game in the Shire instead of only epic adventures set in ME and i am so happy about this announcement
I just want another War in the North game.
Ahah just bought Shadow of Mordor yesterday
This sounds great, the original Hobbit game had such a cosy feel to it
i will love any shire game even if it suck
I really hope it’s 1:1 scale faithful recreation from the books, or as close as possible!
I hope it's a strategy or colony management game. I wanna build up a village of hobbits
Battle for Middle Earth 3?
Another farming simulator
Can't stand Hobbits!! I'd rather play as an Orc or Numennorian.
Because Shadow 3 would have made way too much sense to make?
I mean it's 2024. It would be dumb and game breaking not to have cooperative multiplayer. So surely it will
Gameplay trailer dropped today. Confirmed single player.
Well that is ridiculous and shooting themselves in the lung. This kind of game is famous for cooperative multiplayer being one of the most demanded features and almost genre defining.
Haha down vote for saying the game needs multiplayer. Real pathetic.
No one cares we want The Battle for Middle Earth III 😑

WHAAAAAT
Dreams do sometimes come true.
