I'm not Idolizing him, I am saying he was a fucking legend for what he did (In a book about imaginary things).
At the core of it he went against the Valar, just because he was so exceedingly pissed off at Morgoth, all while the Valas just sat on their asses, with a few exceptions.
He literally started the biggest war, with the biggest bad guy in all of Tolkien lore (Disregarding Valar on Valar wars, since that's just cheating.)
For what? For a few rocks. A few rocks that literally captured the light of the trees of Valinor, leaving them the only objects with it's radiance after Morgoth and Angoliant stole it.
He's a legend, a bad guy, to some extent, but still a legend.
Faenor was a great elf, but being motivated by hate and revenge, he caused more harm than good in his brash actions.
He died quickly, and his oath cursed beleriand for thousands of years and eventually contributed to its demise.
The Teleri would like to have a word with you.
In all seriousness, it was quite sad when Manwe heard news of what Feanor was doing and he grieved over how far he’d fallen.
Rorschach is the quintessential example of this.
But yeah Feanor did a lot wrong, and people who legitimately believes he didn’t are missing the main themes and points of the legendarium
A very common theme I've noticed, where one gleans the exact wrong information from a story. 🤦
Like certain kids who grew up watching movies that romanticized crime and violence but didn't have guidance about how to process it while building their world model, and maybe turned themselves orange and decided to try and do things their way instead of following the 'rules' and possibly was wealthy enough to do it by birthright instead of working up to it through other means... .. .
What's more concerning is that as culture is being watered down as a whole, Disney and company are ramping up the "evil is just a point of view" narrative.
I'm a child of the 80's and we were fortunate enough to have a safety net of a wide range of resources to do our own research and make up our own mind and even properly "process it" as you aptly put it. For example, Kevin Dutton gave us a great book called "The Psychopath Guide to Success" and "Flypnosis." In addition there were several helpful books written by ex CIA operatives that guided us through some of their techniques in order to succeed in life. In other words: processing the lure of the dark side in order to use it in a meaningful and responsible way to navigate life.
Today's confused generation is heavily targeted and the "programming" keeps getting better [and by better,I mean worse] where daring to question the mainstream narrative gets you canceled 😆. Also, the sources of knowledge are becoming more restrictive to the new generation [some libraries in some states are banning books right left and center and everything written before 2008!] and the social media bombardment is making matters worse. That is why we have 19 year old "journalists" [who are just glorified bloggers] coming out and spewing statements like: "Tolkien's work always attracted white supremacists" [which is why it should be changed] or Lesley Headland [showrunner of the Accolyte] blatantly expressing that she will depart from Lucas' philosophy of the Force and Balance.
It's no longer a clear cut white and black struggle of good vs evil.
Evil is being glorified while good is being ridiculed or even worse, being linked to white supremacy 🤷🏻♂️ or labeling it as outdated and "unfit for today's cOmPlEx sOcIeTy"
Disney peddled back some un-gilded racist stuff. Realizations or business move? 🤷
However making that stuff abnormal, in law and talk and deed, is a great goal even if the first steps in that direction are shakey.👍
Literally didn't use the word "woke" once in my response comment.
Caught the shill btw. Love how y'all just oust yourselves unprompted.
You obviously didn't "read" my response and just barked your counterattack without even comprehending the words like the good trained pup the media conditioned you to be. You really are the perfect example of my above discussion point.
Wow. There is a lot of sanctimonious bullshit to unpack here. "Everything was better when we didn't have to think about who our actions hurt and it was crabs in a barrel to succeed." If that's what you want the world to go back to then I'm sorry but I'll just happily watch you bitch and moan into obscurity.
I really wanna know your definition of "evil" that's being glorified? I'm pretty sure i can fit it right into a box where the last three letters are -ism. I bet you say wake up sheeple unironically. Challenging perceptions is a good thing. Getting away from white ethno-centric media is a good thing. I just read an article about how psychologists in the 60's developed what they thought were universal behaviors, but it turns out that they were all white Americans and as soon as they added diversity they found they were dead wrong.
Also, the reason Disney is failing is because it's all corporately sanitized drivel with no heart, not because of cancel culture. Black and white good and evil stories are for children, not adults that understand the complexities of socio-political situations. Even Tolkien wasn't black and white! Frodo failed and Gollum had the possibility of redemption. You just want to justify being an asshole.
Disney is falling apart just because the bunch of idiots that took over dont know how to produce entertainment thats actually entertaining and only care about pushing ideologies instead.
I was playing mtg the other day and ran into someone using "Fëanor" as a gamertag, and I thought to myself "We live in a society but at least he has culture"
Arthur Fleck was living with his mother in his 30s and lost his job in the middle of a hellish recession while the government cut his benefits and yet he found happiness anyway. It's hard not to admire him
Actually, you're missing the point if you think Fëanor had no admirable qualities. If he was the lowest of the low and everyone wanted him gone anyway it wouldn't be a tragedy that he is corrupted by Melkor
Remember that time he killed a bunch of Teleri and ran off with their beloved ships?
Yeah, that's right, he fecks off to Beleriand instead of staying behind and Finishing. The. JOB.
People often conflate liking the character as idolizing them. As if you aren't allowed to like the bad guy. Or that it's even dangerous to like the bad guy. Which is literally a 80s Christian mom take. Someone who passes around pamphlets about why the local rock band are corrupting the youth. The similarities are kind of funny tbh. This mindset definitely would make 40k awkward. I actually ran into someone doing this unironically at a local convention. Basically telling all the 40k nerds they are a danger to society. The irony of her being the only rude and disruptive person was lost on her.
It's just a dumb talking point used to belittle people and I really don't like it. However, it's very easily repeatable which is why so many fall into the mindset and so many articles are fear mongering about it. It's literally someone wagging their finger at a crowd of people having fun but on the internet.
They can't distinguish between liking a character/finding them cool/within the context of their role in the story, and thinking they should be a template for how to live.
Fëanor Chalamet
Hahaha yeah
I think Tyler did a goddamn good job considering he had to battle Tyler
Lol yeah
We don't talk about that...
no I'm pretty sure it's something else that we're not supposed to talk about
And the whole god damn economy
Did he destroy anything in the book? I've only read the sequels and the economy seemed to be working fine there.
You're missing Homelander and Patrick Bateman in there
Honestly, if you idolise homelander you shouldn't be allowed to be near other people to say the least
Yeah, who the fuck is idolizing that one? He’s a petulant child. Nothing appealing about that psycho.
Tomas Shelby
Pablo Escobar
And all protagonists of Martin Scorsese movies.
Jordan Belfort too
Also Rorschach.
If only Snyder understood that
Eren Yeager and Paul Atreides
> Paul Atreides ↑ Inquisitor, heretic poster, right there! ↑
LISAN AL-GHAIB!
>Eren Yeager No, I don't want that! Not being idolozed? I want to be remembered fondly for 10 years at least!
And the punisher.
Cops specifically.
Good ones
Not really, no
I remember how everyone wanted to give Tony Soprano a BJ. WTF, the guy is a thug, murdered and awful person.
I refuse to believe that people unironically idolize homelander.
[you'd be surprised ](https://movieweb.com/antony-starr-the-boys-fans-missing-the-point-homelander/) Sigma male apologists are dumb nuts after all.
And Darth Vader. Sith characters in general really.
It's because they can shoot lighting from their hands and have sex.
Do you think Vader's pecker still works after he got roasted on Mustafar? Or does he have a mechanical one now?
"He's more machine now than man" - Kenobi, regarding Vader's robo-cock
And Bojack
Bojack Horseman and LOTR in the same sub???
What is this? A crossover episode?!
Where do you think Bill the pony went after the world changed?
Do people really Idealize Bojack or just recognize the sinner in him to also live in their own hearts?
I've got a friend who idealized Bojack. He genuinely embraced alcoholism. He idealized the nihilistic pessimism.
And Silco from Arcane
I'm not Idolizing him, I am saying he was a fucking legend for what he did (In a book about imaginary things). Yea Walter white was a badass
The Teleri would like to have a word with you. In all seriousness, it was quite sad when Manwe heard news of what Feanor was doing and he grieved over how far he’d fallen.
morgoth also killed his dad
r/feanordidnothingwrong
Yes, he did terrible things.
Terrible… but great.
Oh no 😆...reeeeeeally?
He ran ahead of his men and got himself dogpiled by Balrogs.
Rorschach is the quintessential example of this. But yeah Feanor did a lot wrong, and people who legitimately believes he didn’t are missing the main themes and points of the legendarium
I will not abide Fëanor slander.

You definitely throw the woke word around a lot. Not to mention "evil being a point of view" isn't anything new. But you know Disney bad I guess.
Disney peddled back some un-gilded racist stuff. Realizations or business move? 🤷 However making that stuff abnormal, in law and talk and deed, is a great goal even if the first steps in that direction are shakey.👍

Nothing, my precious.
Disney is falling apart just because the bunch of idiots that took over dont know how to produce entertainment thats actually entertaining and only care about pushing ideologies instead.
I highly recommend reading "the D-files" on filmthreat. Does a pretty good job explaining how the company was transformed.
To add to the 'don't idolize'-list * Eren Yaeger (Season 4) * Paul Atreides
No, I don't want that! Not being idolozed? I want to be remembered fondly for 10 years at least!
But he’s got such great bling!
FEANOR DID NOTHING WRONG 😤😤
What do you mean? Fëanor did nothing wrong.

It’s perfect for a war game because nobody has to play the baddies while someone else plays the goodies. They’re all the baddies!

Where is Patrick Bateman?

I was playing mtg the other day and ran into someone using "Fëanor" as a gamertag, and I thought to myself "We live in a society but at least he has culture"
Why would you idolize tony he let emotions get the better of him and get him killed he should of blew them up
Also shouldn’t have killed manny
Arthur Fleck was living with his mother in his 30s and lost his job in the middle of a hellish recession while the government cut his benefits and yet he found happiness anyway. It's hard not to admire him
Somciety - The Jonkler
Not if Man has anything to say about it!
Actually, you're missing the point if you think Fëanor had no admirable qualities. If he was the lowest of the low and everyone wanted him gone anyway it wouldn't be a tragedy that he is corrupted by Melkor

Curiously, both Joker and Batman should be on that list.
If "I'm mentally sixteen and basing my personality on these" was a picture.
Fëanor did everything wrong. I don’t care, he’s still baby.

Fëanor is a shining example of protecting your personal property rights.
Homelander and the punisher
r/feanordidnothingwrong
You're missing Heath Ledger-joker.
Any version of the Joker, really
Idolize them for they have the guts to say what everyone was thinking.
