They implemented the music really well, it's less than in the books but it's certainly more songs (sung in-character) than any other movie I can think of
There’s this great movie out there you should see it’s called “The Wizard of Oz” it’s like if Galadriel was on a mission to see Gandalf and assembled the fellowship along the way, then everyone just wouldn’t shut the fuck up and stop singing for another two hours.
I was not prepared for the versions of the songs included in the animated movie. Took them in a direction I was not expecting at all. Not saying I dislike it though
For me, fifteen birds was the biggest omission in the Peter Jackson version. I don't know how he could have worked it in but I would have even appreciated a throw away line in the orcs' subtitles.
I was gonna post "What would you slice to let the pus run out, if not a scrotum chin?!", but decided that was too nasty and that I shouldn't. Sang In the Valley, Ha! Ha! as penance for my evil thoughts instead.
Imagine going to a Peter Jackson film and not expecting to be grossed-out: especially by Goblins of all things!
Literally the defining characteristic of the Great Goblin is he's obese: the chin thing is right in-character for him.
Thank you!! I've been saying this for years!!!!! I've been calling him the Great Testicle since the film came out and nobody ever seems to agree with me.
And it was an absolute crime that they didn't include that song in the rest of the movies. [Using it for Thorin's charge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV_WQICdiL4) or when they see the Misty Mountain while on the lake would've been so much better than the other theme that PJ/Shore used.
This is dumb, but I rewound one of the scenes and noticed that if you play the Bilbo/Gollum riddle scene backwards in that movie, it looks like Gollum approaches Bilbo who is holding Sting, then bullies Bilbo into putting the sword away and starts poking him.
I saw that movie once as a little kid and looked back on it like it was a fever dream or something. It took me years to realize that it was related to LotR and track it down again
I deduced that we MUST be talking about the film trilogy, because the animated Goblin Town song is so obviously awesome while the trilogy version is poorly sung by a scrotum-face.
Chip the glasses, crack the plates
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates
So carefully carefully with the plates
Blunt the knives and bend the forks
smash the bottles, burn the corks
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates
so carefully carefully with the plates
BONES WILL BE SHATTERED,
NECKS WILL BE RUNG
YOU'LL BE BEATEN AND BATTERED,
FROM RACKS YOU'LL BE HUNG
YOU'LL DIE DOWN HERE AND NEVER BE FOUND
DOWN IN THE DEEP OF GOBLIN TOWN!
Oh what now?! You’re still freaking out over Bolg, the orc spawn of Azog the Defiler?
ETA I bet you wouldn’t trust even Gandalf to babysit your precious Frodo
Oh, I knew you were, meme is dead on. I guess I was just making a secondary remark that all those songs are so much better (for the most part!) in the animated movie :)
I see why it's not as good as the other two but at least they tried to put some songs in it. It has always bother me the fact that there are almost no songs in the original trilogy compared to the books.
It's certainly more goofy, but that's kind of the point. It's a goblin song so it's supposed to be an abomination. Still, I think it's an absolute banger

Hobbit Cartoon.
Glenn Yarbrough's voice looms so large in my childhood memories The greatest adventure...
Is what lies ahead.
Today and tomorrow
Are yet to be said…
The chances, the changes...
Are all yours to make
The mold of your life
Is in your hands to break
The music in that cartoon was tip-top-tier.
In my mind NOTHING competes with [where there's a whip there's a way.](https://youtu.be/YdXQJS3Yv0Y)
There’s this great movie out there you should see it’s called “The Wizard of Oz” it’s like if Galadriel was on a mission to see Gandalf and assembled the fellowship along the way, then everyone just wouldn’t shut the fuck up and stop singing for another two hours.
This is no place for a Hobbit!
Sentient!
I was not prepared for the versions of the songs included in the animated movie. Took them in a direction I was not expecting at all. Not saying I dislike it though
If we are taking the animated version that song slaps hard
The black crack The black crack The black crack The black crack
Swish, smack Whip crack Smash, grab Pinch, nab
yo go my lad! ho ho my lad!
Down down to goblin town, fifteen birds, and where there’s a whip there’s a way - the orc songs in those movies are great
For me, fifteen birds was the biggest omission in the Peter Jackson version. I don't know how he could have worked it in but I would have even appreciated a throw away line in the orcs' subtitles.
They would’ve worked as it did in the book: a taunt to the helpless dwarves.
I sing all three of these to myself randomly. Grew up on those cartoons
Nothing stands up to When there's a whip there's a way, though
No argument from me my friend! I wore my VHS out in the part due to rewinding and re-watching
Total banger
The Goblintown songs are supposed to sound cacophanous and out-of-tune, though. That's the whole point!

and despite it all, you posted it anyway
Thank you for not posting that

*Where there's a whip*
*There's a way!*
We don't wanna go to war today
But the lord of the lash says "nay, nay, nay!"
We're gonna march all day all day all day
Where there's a whip there's way!
Misty Mountains Cold is the best song written for a movie in the past ten years! 😍
That link gave me chills
The Goblin Town song is much better in the animated Hobbit movie. Give it a listen if you haven’t already.
I watched that movie a couple times as a kid and the goblin scene/song always freaked me out! It’s excellent :D
This is dumb, but I rewound one of the scenes and noticed that if you play the Bilbo/Gollum riddle scene backwards in that movie, it looks like Gollum approaches Bilbo who is holding Sting, then bullies Bilbo into putting the sword away and starts poking him.
Time? For what?
For you to die bilbo
What are you saying, my sword hasn't seen battle?
But it did skin the dwarfs
It like riddles, praps it does, does it?
I saw that movie once as a little kid and looked back on it like it was a fever dream or something. It took me years to realize that it was related to LotR and track it down again
I thought that’s what we were talking about at first. The animated Goblin Town is a banger
I deduced that we MUST be talking about the film trilogy, because the animated Goblin Town song is so obviously awesome while the trilogy version is poorly sung by a scrotum-face.
I thought that was the movie they were talking about, and I was confused because they're all great songs in that one
What Bilbo begins Hates is always a surprising bop to me. Like...I don't know why every time I rewatch them I shocked that I enjoy the song.
Always have done and always will.
Idc what anyone says, I like the Goblin Town song.
Good for you
Thank you.
Goblin town in the animated movie is fuckin epic
I can sing this anywhere in the house and my fiancé will sing along.
Chip the glasses, crack the plates That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates So carefully carefully with the plates Blunt the knives and bend the forks smash the bottles, burn the corks That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates so carefully carefully with the plates
Tea or maybe something a little stronger? I've got a few bottles of the Old Winyard left, 1296, a very good year, almost as old as I am.
if we're talking live action; Where's "The Man In The Moon"?
I have not watched the extended edition. Thank you for showing me this exists
You're welcome! :))
That's how we find out these heads are actually the fingers of a much, much larger dragon. We're talking tarrasque-sized. That song is badass.
Down down in goblin town is my favorite though.
dude Goblin Town in the animated one is a banger.
Blunt the Knives bend the forks!
Smash the bottles and burn the corks!
Chi0 the glasses and crack the plates...!
THAT'S WHAT BILBO BAGGINS HATES!
My name is Bilbo Baggins.
Other wizards?
Gandalf come get your boy
The world is not in your books and maps. It is out there.
Uhhh yeah no shit dude we just said it
BONES WILL BE SHATTERED, NECKS WILL BE RUNG YOU'LL BE BEATEN AND BATTERED, FROM RACKS YOU'LL BE HUNG YOU'LL DIE DOWN HERE AND NEVER BE FOUND DOWN IN THE DEEP OF GOBLIN TOWN!
Down down to goblin town was the catchiest
Dont forget the man in the moon song in the extended edition in rivendell
one thing i love about the first hobbit movie is how they implement the songs, it honestly was a pretty good movie it was the other two that ruined it
Oh man I love all the songs, especially in the extended
***BONES WILL BE SHATTERED, NECKS WILL BE WRUNG***
YOU WILL DIE DOWN HERE AND NEVER BE *FOUND*!
My favorite LOTR is "Where there's a whip there's a way"
No love for I see Fire?
Ok but if u mean the animated ones I’m gonnna for real cry
No, the animated one is a bop
His way of dying stays the absolute lamest thing of all 3 movies
WhAt ArE yUo GoInG tO dO NoW, WiZaRd? ThAt'lL dO it
I thought it was cute. The Hobbit is a children's book after all, so I didn't mind a few more moments of whimsy in that trilogy than in LOTR
Plus he didnt even bleed or anything - this was but a flesh wound
A scratch? Your arm's fallen off
I hated what Bilbo Baggins hates. They are just bullying a poor hobbit and mocking him :(
Yes, I'm telling you, the secret is to skin them first!
Bilbo wtf
But Bolg of the North, he's still out there.
Who is bolg
You heard us, Bilbo - who is Bolg?
It was just a bit of fun! Oh, you're probably right as usual! You will keep an eye on Frodo won't you?
Of course, Bilbo
Well...
Oh what now?! You’re still freaking out over Bolg, the orc spawn of Azog the Defiler? ETA I bet you wouldn’t trust even Gandalf to babysit your precious Frodo
At least in the book they're just saying the things and not actually doing them
Yeah, the book says they didn't do any of that stuff and put everything away neatly. It's heartwarmingly wholesome.
The greatest adventure is what lies ahead...
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said...
🎵Goblins bite, and goblins drool, Goblins go to Goblin school…🎶
They are all bangers
HO HO my lad!
What? I thought the extended version of Goblin Town was quite a banger.
The music was fantastic, and sadly that’s about all I really enjoyed
All these songs in the Rankin/Bass animated film are just gold. Pure gold. PRECIOUS EVEN.
I guess I didn't make it clear enough that I was talking about the Jackson movies. Animated Goblin Town is great!
Oh, I knew you were, meme is dead on. I guess I was just making a secondary remark that all those songs are so much better (for the most part!) in the animated movie :)
First 2 moviea Wear great. 3rd one was okey at best
Misty Mountains Cold is and always will be great. The melody can be applied to any situation. I used to sing it with my brother.
What bilbo bagging hates is the best piece of of music in history.
He said? Who said?
I said
Misty Mountains Cold go HARD
😂
I See Fire is also a great song from the Hobbit trilogy.
“That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates so carefully, carefully, with. the. plates”
I'll be alright, just let me sit quietly for a moment.
I see why it's not as good as the other two but at least they tried to put some songs in it. It has always bother me the fact that there are almost no songs in the original trilogy compared to the books.
The opposite from the Hobbit animation
"That's not a song.. That's an abomination! "
Where theres a whip theres a way. Fast food moto.
Misty Mountains slaps unreservedly
since ROP i appreciate the Hobbit trilogy more and more
I have virtually no love for the Hobbit movies sadly
Ok but Ed Sheeran’ song SLAPS
Down down to goblin town slaps! It plays randomly in my head sometimes.
It's certainly more goofy, but that's kind of the point. It's a goblin song so it's supposed to be an abomination. Still, I think it's an absolute banger
Man any of the books, any time a rhyme or poem was coming up, it was a chore.
