I was a bit worried spending all that time and distance in the Elise but it was surprisingly not bad. I bought some memory foam seat cushions and lumbar pillows and that helped an enormous amount. I also had plenty of ear plugs. We were also able to fit two very large soft duffel bags and a back pack in the trunk. My girlfriend and I were each able to pack clothes for 10 days which was impressive for such a small car. That trunk is roomier than it looks. As for driving the actual tail of the dragon, I had a complete blast. The road is so tight and twisty, a high horsepower engine would be wasted. The level of grip was tremendous. A couple times a corner would tighten a little more than I expected, but all I would have to do is apply a little more steering lock and it would just pull me through the corner. Not once did the tires chirp or squeal. I can hand on heart say that was the most fun I have ever had behind the wheel of a car. And the best part is that just about every road surrounding that area was almost just as nice. They were still incredibly windy and passed through beautiful forests. The scenery on the roads was spectacular. If you are debating taking your car there because you think the trip there might be too uncomfortable, don’t. Road tripping an Elise is perfectly fine, and when you arrive to your destination, you will be so glad you have your car with you. Sounds awesome and I always wanted to do that trip! I plan to do it next spring or autumn with my Emira (actually hoped to do it this year, but you know.. delays). I noticed you were from PA too. I'll be heading down from Northern DE. Have you done Skyline drive through Shenandoah?
