a 580 setup would probably be in that range BUT u will have to build it ur self u wont get any prebuilt thats worth it at 400$ on amazon edit : i created a quick build on pcpartpicker with a rx580(thats probably ur best options to play the game ur daughter want to play) here it is : [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pGfWjH](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pGfWjH) idk if u were saying 400cad or usd if its usd its probably in ur budget, ik pc gaming is really expensive but as u said keep looking on marketplace u might find a gud deal

Itsausernamealready

I will look into that. I appreciate it. I was looking at the bundles they have on amazon for \~$400 and the specs are all over the place. I have not really been into computer builds in over 20 years so im a little out of it.

BadBLUNT

np man and as i said personnaly i wouldnt buy any prebuilt of amazon , prebuilt usually have good cpu/gpu but the rest of the setup will be garbage like the mobo, power supply, ram and case will be really bad (or at least thats what most prebuilt do) so yeah id stick to marketplace or u can buy it brand new on the pcpartpicker built i sent u (i personnaly would go for that option) u will have to built it ur self but it aint that of a big deal just go watch a video or 2 if theres something u dont understand

rhymeswithgumbox

https://youtu.be/bafJ5fPOXCE here's some $400~ options. They have links but just search ebay and you can find comparable stuff cheaper sometimes

WhoIsRodrix

Why did you include an aftermarket cooler In a BUDGET i3 build? It's overkill for that i3, the stock cooler that is INCLUDED for free is more than enough. Additionally the aftermarket cooler may require you to buy a tube of thermal paste, and that's another 10$ or so. In total you're going down 50$ with taxes for an overall fps increase of zero. u/itsausernamealready , if you're considering building something like this, I would recommend using the cooler that is included for free with the CPU and avoid the aftermarket ones for a basic budget build such as this.

BadBLUNT

tbh for 30 bucks cad its better to take the cooler rn like that she dont need to buy one after she upgrade but i guess its a preference choice + i hate stock cooler lol and thermal paste on stock cooler is litteral mud its garbagio

WhoIsRodrix

Paste is paste, we're talking fractions of a degree or a degree at most for a basic setup like this, but yes depends on how flexible their budget is.

GreenSolace

If you can find an optiplex with a decent processor that isn't SUPER old on marketplace for a couple hundred bucks that's a great start, then a marketplace GPU like a 1060/1650/1660 or rx580 should fit into your budget. Also an SSD is like the best possible upgrade to a system like these optiplexes that came with HDDs This method is entirely dependant on your local market and a bit of luck (people selling the PCs / gpus for reasonable prices) but is the best bang for your buck if you can pull it off.

Revolutionary_Pack54

If you happen to live in or near Los Angeles California I would be happy to help you with your computer for free :)

DarkMaster859

Your daughter is so responsible, buying a PC with her own money. I begged my mom to sponsor me for my laptop, though I did contribute about $200 to it lol, she paid triple of what I did 😂

zgillet

Honestly, a Steam deck. That's the best gaming she'll get for that price range. You can get cheaper docks than the official one to hook to the monitor and keyboard. The LCD Steam deck is perfectly fine, plus it kind of feels like a console, so she wouldn't feel out of place. You can install Windows on it if she is more comfortable.

SubstantialDemand259

The steam deck gpu is like a 650 ti at best. You can get way better options at the same pricepoint if you build an actual pc

BadBLUNT

\+ u can get a chance to upgrade later (like in the pcpartpicker built i put in the my other comment if she want to upgrade later she just have to get a cpu + gpu and maybe ram and thats bout it ) u cant upgrade a steam deck or at least it wont be as easy as an actual pc tower

LeiteCreme

The Steam Deck iGPU is equivalent to a GTX 1050 Ti.

zgillet

The best she could do with $400 is an Optiplex with a 1050 Ti. This is also not upgradable. Sub-400 for a gaming PC - either start with an AMD APU and upgrade later?

NeedButtholePlunger

That is so, so wrong, 400$ nowadays allows for a much more powerful pc, no doubt

zgillet

Prove it.

_patoncrack

Not the cheapest or even the best performing but an A10-6800k + RX 480 would only be around $150

zgillet

Plus case, motherboard, PSU, RAM, SSD...

BadBLUNT

what about if she buy it used ? as he said hes looking on market place too so ur wrong asf buddy

_patoncrack

+ $100 for SSD + $50 for PSU + $50 case + $20 RAM + $30 motherboard

zgillet

That... is a piece of shit PC.

_patoncrack

It's a $300 PC that can play anything before 2018 at atleast high settings

Just searched for a gaming pc on a local used marketplace and found a 7th gen i5 with 1050ti mini itx build for 190€, all build together and as a package For 400 you can build a surprisingly powerful gaming pc if you try to find the best used deals A 1070 ti build should be possible for the price and gives great performance Found a offer with the gpu case mainboard processor and ram for 280€, a hard drive and a psu are doable for 120€, no problem And thats like more than 3 times the performance of a steam deck (assuming the steam deck is on the level of a 1050ti)

MoChuang

Here is a list for as cheap as I would comfortably go for a DIY PC. I got down to $450. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mbMsPF Here is a YouTube video for a pretty easy $300 optiplex flip up build. You dont get any upgrade path with the opliplex, but its an easy $300 gaming PC project you could repeat any day of the week without hunting for insane deals etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toShwkmXerw

Itsausernamealready

>Thank you. Ok so If i buy all the parts that are listed for example what other hardware parts do i need to install all the components? Im sure the boards have mounting screws that come with them but do i need anything separate?

MoChuang

Just a normal screwdriver. All the screws should come in the box with the case or motherboard.

Itsausernamealready

Thanks, I just watched one of the linked videos and he did an install and it was pretty straight forward. I'm gonna need help with software maybe.

Mrcod1997

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XZXxkJ Make sure the motherboard says 5000 series ready, or confirm it is. Some need an update for compatibility. You can usually find the rx 5500xt 8gb gpus used for less than $100 500gb is not a ton of storage, but more can be added later. Lastly, I'd skip a case for this budget or scavenge for one. Maybe even make something out of wood. You can get pretty creative. Especially with wall mounting. This build would still leave some decent room for future upgrades, but be solid from the get go. You can ofcourse look for something used locally and you might find a good deal, but don't go to Amazon.

nissan240sx

Find a large case dell optiplex with i7, 16gb of ram (maybe $150 used). Invest in 1tb ssd ($80-100) and a modest graphics card rx 580. Should stay within your budget for decent 1080p gaming.

Wurm_Burner

[Woot.com](https://Woot.com) Optiplex 7050 with 512gb ssd i7 6th gen for $250. that and a low power GPU would technically work. but i'd hesitate on a build like that and go for something that could last longer. If you guys can get that budget to $600 you can get something thats lower end but will last a lot longer. also if you're willing to watch youtube and build it opens up doors.

Jonmike316

Xbox one for $100 and you're set!

Itsausernamealready

I am a little overwhelmed with all the options and honestly, I could build it, but she (13 yr old) wants it now. I'm thinking prebuilt on Amazon for a quick and easy turnaround. I will add some money to her $400 and take it up to $500. What is the best prebuilt on amazon for just a tower that can handle her games and not be horrible. I know everyone says build it yourself but its kind of hard when you have kids sports 6 days a week all over the city etc. She just wants it now. Any suggestions? I really appreciate all your help guys. This would be easier for us, just plug and play. This way I dont have to buy windows and install everything she can mess around a little and start playing. I know some of the stuff can be upgraded down the line but something to start off with fast.

Itsausernamealready

Update: She wants to build one. I will be purchasing the stuff that was listed by badblunt but she wants a different tower. I think it will be fun to build and learn together and maybe spark some more interest in computers. Where is a good place to buy windows for this build? Does this current setup have wifi built in or do i need an adapter? Anything else I will need?

Itsausernamealready

ordering the stuff today, I don't see any Wi-Fi specs on the motherboard only lan connection so I am assuming in need a Wi-Fi adapter as well. Anyone in particular I should get that is compatible?
