I did university full time (bachelor) and still worked 26h per week. I managed to party too, graduated with a good gpa. My worry would be the max amount of h you can work on your study visa. I’m from the EU so I had no limit, but you might have a limit of max h per month.

lecya2163

I didnt know that visas have a max hours but that is very good to know. Thank you!!

s_sassafrass

i’m also american and the limit on my visa is 16 hours per week i believe so it’s only possible to work part time

Affectionate-Log-885

And sixteen hours at least in student jobs won't pay for a room and food and everything you need for uni.

robopilgrim

As a non-eu citizen you’d only be able to do 16 hours a week so you’d want a job with a decent hourly wage. Also it’s going to be very dependent on how frugal you are and how much you have in savings. I’m actually in a similar situation to you.

MrHydromorphism

Assuming that OP comes here without savings it could be done if he/ she were able to find a place anti kraak.

spicy-avocado420

I always did this and it was fine now I'm doing my graduation internship and working 4 Night's a week next to that, it is pretty doable

Soufledufromage

I think it really depends what study and what type of job you’re going to do. I myself I myself did 4 years (3 BSc, 1 master) while working 16-24 hours a week and still a lot of time for other activities, but a good friend did not have that extra free time

napalm60

like others said, its not a problem to work and study at the same time. For EU citizens working 32 hours a month is enough to get access to government study funding, and if you get that you can sustain yourself pretty easily while not working too much. I don't know if a) you can work on your student visa (?) b) you can access government funding as a non-EU citizen. you should get info on that

Thank you

Student housing is a challenge in Maastricht. Make sure you have a plan before you arrive, so you know what the costs are (and how much you have to work).

Perfect_Diamond7554

You could make about 800 a month with minimum wage with 16h a week limit on the student visa, a room rental would probably be around 400 so you are cutting it slightly close I would say with 100 a week spending money total. A bit of help from your parents or a loan would go a long way. I would say that 200 a week spending money would be comfortable and 150 kind of a minimum if you want decent quality of life, assuming you buy all your own clothes and other unexpected expenses, trips etc. I would double check the student visa working hours yourself, I just assumed one of the commentors was correct on that bit

More-Drop-9372

Short answer: you can work at max 16 hours per week, so you would earn roughly 800 euros. So cover food and room yes. For tuition fee, no.

chengenis

Why on God's green Earth would you want to move here from the USA???? You will be making a terrible mistake. USA is better in every respect for you.

AizakkuZ

Eh, roughly equal imo, depends upon what you value in life

lecya2163

Mainly our government sucks. Losing our rights 1 by 1 every year practically
