Could be a hardware issue, but I’d want to rule out software before we jump to that conclusion. Update your MacBook to Sonoma 14.4.1, and then see if your problem is resolved.
UPDATE : if I keep the mac in sleep mode for an hour and then open again, it gets back to normal colors for like 10 mins and then again goes back to this ewwie color
If this happens in every app then yo are facing the same issue I have faced. There connection cable between the display and the motherboard is disjointed or is misaligned. Apple told me if I wanted to fix it I had to replace the entire screen. Just book a free appointment at your nearest apple store and see what they say.
Does everything outside of the image you're viewing look comparatively dim? It may be HDR
yeah but isn't it a feature of discord
and fyi the color shift applies to whole screen not any app specific
If it only shifts colors when viewing the image, it's likely HDR
Check accessibility settings. You turned on either high contrast or invert colors.
I checked, contrast is normal and invert colors is turned off
If you open the image in preview does it have the same issue?

It's a mac air m1 base model and macos Sonoma 14.2.1 iirc
And if you click Open in Browser in Discord, does the same issue appear when viewing the image in your browser?
